Story
How Bradley arrived: Bradley was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement Team. At SDHS:Bradley has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered and is now ready for his new home! Why Bradley might be the one for you: Bradley is a favorite of our volunteers because he is a very good dog when they take him out for adventures. He jumps into their cars with a smile on his face and he is ready to go. He likes water breaks because he uses them as nuzzle with his volunteer and get hugs. He is a good listener for commands and follows hem. Bradley's sweetness is undeniable, and he can never have enough attention from his human friends. He just loves being with his people! We have learned that he loves water. He jumps right in and looks so happy while dog paddling around. He's looking for a home where he can be the only dog and receive all of the love and spoiling from his family. In return, Bradley will be a wonderful companion and loyal friend! He'll always be by your side, ready to brighten your day with his sweetness. Want to know more? Come to our shelter and ask to meet Bradley, the dog who really likes people and water.Bradley has been chosen as a Volunteer Pick! To see what makes him extra special click here. Story
Meet Marie! This girl is always down for adventure (unfortunately, without her people)! This girl has gotten lose 4 different times from adopters and fosters and has trekked from North County to South County of San Diego prior to landing with us. With the proper adopter, this girl is aiming to please, does great with dogs and is devoted to her inner circle of people. Due to her ability to escape, she can NEVER be left unattended (crated when you are gone or can't keep an eye on her) and walked on a double leash. We know this doesn’t make her sound like the most appealing dog in the world, but we promise you, once you meet her, the extra safety measures won't seem that bad.  She wants nothing more than to please and be with her people.  Her escape tendencies come from years living at large in the desert and protecting her pups.  She can jump (impressively), climb, leverage, dig, you name it.  Loud noises and the unexpected scare her.  She has blossomed from being aloof to approaching every new person looking for food and love.  She is loyal, loving, kind and forgiving.  She is solid with dogs and balanced with a neutral mate.  She loves to explore the world on leash and just hang out if that is preferred.  It's been a year in the making but she is more than ready to graduate to her future home.  She needs a forever that will keep her safe no matter what and she'll love your forever in return. Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  NO offleash activities in unfenced areas for life. Story
How this pet arrived:Peanut was brought in by his former owner. Why Peanut might be the one for you: Peanut is a young guy with huge ears, white paws and pretty brownish coloring with a few white markings in all the right places to make him gorgeous. Although technically he may not be considered a puppy, he thinks he is still a puppy and that means he is full of energy and hasn't learned all the stuff for being a a good dog. Peanut is a goofy, playful dog who is looking for an active home where he can get lots of daily exercise and enrichment. Peanut has shown signs of impulse control, so he is looking for dog savvy owners who can continue his positive reinforcement training. We can help you with tips and resources for how to work with a dog like Peanut. He will do best in a quieter environment with a routine and with no kids or kids 12 or older. Want to provide a caring and loving home for Peanut to finish his transition from puppy to best friend companion? If so, come to our campus and ask to meet Peanut who is NOT peanut sized although he may think he is as he tries to crawl onto your lap. Peanut has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and is now ready for his new home. Message for details:This pet is available for adoption in a foster home. Story
Oliver is a loving and sweet boy who needs someone to provide the attention he deserves. Oliver does come with his problems like every dog. He has separation anxiety, gets protective over his family, and sometimes will keep you up at night if he gets lonely. He loves to go for long walks, play fetch, cuddle on the couch, and go for runs. Oliver needs someone who works from home, active, and likes to go for long car rides where he can stick his head out and smell the fresh air. We want him to go to someone who is going to take really good care of him and give him the love he deserves. Oliver would be better off being an only dog. He is also a lover of toilets so beware haha. We would love to get to know about you and your life style, as well as, why you are looking to adopt Oliver!
