Story
MARVEL is a 5 yr old Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso) who came to us after she became protective of her family in their home. Marvel is a victim of Covid-19. With the shelter in place order, her family was not able to properly socialize her and she grew up as a “big fish in a little pond”. Her family had many special needs children and medical care professionals needed to visit the home during the pandemic. They arrived wearing masks and Marvel thought that was very scary and began to protect the children from these masked strangers. The family called in a trainer but, due to the circumstances, everything was a little overwhelming for them. We acquired her on the day she was to be euthanized. Marvel has been fine with us. With a handful of treats she warms up quickly to our volunteers. We did have one incident with an unannounced visitor who approached her quickly and the result was a bite. In a home she may revert to her protectiveness so we are looking for a family with Cane Corso experience - walking the line between socialization and keeping her safe. Cane Corsos were originally war dogs during the Roman empire and used for protection - it is ingrained in their DNA. They have also been used for drafting and droving cattle – IE they need a job to do. Just sitting around the house twiddling their thumbs is a recipe for disaster which is what got Marvel into the situation in the first place. We have paired Marvel with playful young male dogs and they do well together with supervision (Marvel tends to play rough and takes the upper hand). We feel that she could work out in a home with a well-adjusted male dog to show her appropriate dog behavior or as an only pup. Not cat compatible. Marvel can fly over a 4 foot fence so 6 foot privacy fencing is ideal. If you are the home that we are looking for, please fill out an application at www.CompAnimals.org. Marvel is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. Adoption $300.November 3, 2024, 10:40 am

Story
Liberty is a 9 year old spayed female cane corso who weighs about 115 pounds. She was rescued as part of a humane case in 2020 and she is finally ready to find a home of her own! Liberty is a volunteer favorite and we have spoiled her rotten while she has waited for her court case to settle. She previously lived with other dogs, but due to being by herself over the years, we would prefer that she is the only pet in the home. Liberty is easy going, house trained, walks well on a leash and will be a wonderful addition. Story
Henry found himself in urgent need of rescue after a good samaritan found him very malnourished and lying in the middle of a road. He was taken to a South Carolina shelter and needed immediate medical attention. We scooped him up and made sure he received everything he needed to get the start in life he should have had. One look into Henry's gorgeous eyes and you will fall in love with his beautiful soul.  His bouncy but gentle style of play will bring endless smiles to your face. He gets along well with dogs of any size.  He is house and crate trained. When it comes to snuggling he is a pro and will even share a stuffie or two with you.  This little guy is the complete package!   Henry is fostered in Gilbertsville (Montgomery County), Pennsylvania and will be available to head to his furever home on or after 11/9/2024. www.mostlymuttz.org https://facebook.com/mostlymuttz #mostlymuttzrescue #snugglebug #greeneyes #adoptable #SeekingFurever #adoptme Mostly Muttz Rescue PA Kennel License: 10872 ##2212427##

Story
Have you always wanted a big strong man that doesn’t know his own size to be your valentine? We have a handsome fella that may fit the bill! Meet Dozer! Dozer is a purebred 6 month old Cane Corso that came to us as an owner surrender. His condition was heartbreaking to say the least. Emaciated, full of worms and having ingested a foreign object, Dozer was a mess. Currently, this gentle giant is working on gaining weight to get back to a healthy size, and his foster parents have also been working with him on basic obedience. Even though Dozer is underweight, he is still 6 months old and 70 pounds, and *shockingly* doesn’t know his own size. He will need to continue his training and learn puppy manners such as not jumping up on people to say hello, and not trying to eat food off the counter. Dozer is great with other dogs, and loves to play with his foster sister (Doberman) in the yard. He is a big daddy’s boy to his foster dad, and loves to follow him around with his big puppy dog eyes to beg for pets and treats. Dozer is the silliest, squishiest boy, and will still have to grow into his skin, his ears, and his head. He loves to snuggle and no one can resist kissing his stupidly squishy face. He is full of goofy antics, and looks like a cartoon character when he runs; jowls flapping in the wind. Because Dozer is such a large, strong, and powerful boy, a family with a fenced yard and children over 10 would be ideal for this big guy. Having breed experience with an XL breed or protective/guardian breed is required to set him up for success. Dozer is fully potty trained and is currently working on crate training (in an XXL crate). Overall, Dozer would make for a great valentine to a family willing to spoil him. Are you thinking this beautiful boy could be the love of your life? Apply for him today at shadowandskyrescue.org!
