Story
When you first approach Thanos he greets you quietly—the moment he sees a leash, though, a spark of hope flickers—his tail starts to wag, and he’s happy for the connection. Thanos walks beautifully on leash and leans into gentle neck scratches, relaxing into your touch with quiet trust.
While still a bit shy and reserved, especially in new situations, Thanos is easily won over with treats and kindness. He takes snacks gently and bravely faces the world outside his kennel.
Thanos’s biggest transformation happens in playgroup, where he went from fearful to fabulous! Once he realized the yard was full of friends, his personality blossomed. He ran joyfully, greeted every new dog with a wagging tail, and played with enthusiasm. Thanos is a true playgroup rockstar—socially stable, friendly, and adaptable. He even handles pushy playmates with grace and takes corrections well.
Thanos has shown he just needs a little time and a lot of heart. This gentle, playful boy is ready for someone patient and loving to help him fully come out of his shell.
Meet Thanos at ACCT Philly any day between 10 am and me 6 pm
BEHAVIOR:
04/02/2025 Volunteer notes: Eval: Approached the kennel and he came To the front, soft eyes, quiet, tail down not wagging. Tail starting wagging when I showed him the leash. Easy to leash, walks nicely on a leash. Liked petting around the neck, moved into the petting with soft eyes. Ate treats and took them gently. Tail was tucked for most of the time outside. Balked at going back into the kennel slightly. Needed mild leash pressure and treats and once in turned quickly to try to come back out.
04/01/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Thanos entered the yard very fearful, and quickly warmed up and came out of his shell when he realized that playgroup is fun! He was running around and playing with every dog that came in the yard and greeted everyone happily. He took some small corrections, but was unable to give one to pushier dogs. I would use him as a socially stable dog in the yard when assessing other dogs.
04/01/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Thanos was a shy boy when he came out of his kennel for playgroup, but ultimately let both myself and Taren handle him and fit him for a collar.
04/01/2025 staff notes: I was working outside during playgroup yesterday and volunteer said that she saw a dog loose in the front parking lot. Since I wasn't handling a dog, I grabbed a regular leash and cut through the catch pen to get to the front lot. I approached him and he shied away. The finder was able to get a leash on him without issues, but she had him for 5 days. Likely just takes a little to warm up.
