Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- BLUE IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW. Blue is named true to her color-a gorgeous gray-blue coat and striking eyes looking lovingly back at you! She is about 2-3 years old and we think she is a blend of cane-corso, boxer, and pittie mix. Blue is now a healthy weight of about 70 pounds. Blue came to our training facility underweight from potentially having had a litter of puppies. She is presently recovering and will be spayed before adoption. She is healthy and heartworm negative, and vetting paperwork will be provided upon adoption. Blue has never met a stranger and loves all people, but true to her breed characteristics, will bark at strangers. We have seen no signs of aggression, with her more likely to be checking out your hand for a hidden treat, or just seeking a pat on the head! Blue is fully crate trained and completely house broken, and can be left alone without worry. She eats well, and enjoys afternoon naps with her person. She does well on a leash, and although squirrels and wildlife can be very interesting, she can be redirected. Her husbandtry skills are great; combing, nail trimming, baths and vet trips are all positive interactions for her. Blue is confident when interacting with other dogs, and seeks out a good romp in the yard. When a litter of puppies lost their momma, Blue was a surrogate mom to them, and gave them the love and support they needed to become confident puppies ready for adoption! On occasion, she can resource guard her humans in a one-on-one setting, so care will have to be taken to place her successfully in a home with other dogs. The trainer at Follow My Lead will work with any adopter to ensure this is the perfect situation for Blue. Frankly, Blue would love to be your one and only! Blue would love an active but not overly athletic home, and would enjoy sunbathing in the yard, and a car ride ever so often. She would enjoy a fenced yard to sniff and explore daily. She has been introduced to children without incident, but given her size and strength, and her forgetting how her wiggly butt can knock a tiny person down, we would suggest children of at least 10 years of age-but we would also entertain families with younger children after chatting to ensure everyone can live together safely. If Blue could be your perfect match, complete our application and Reach Out Rescue will forward it to the training facility that is fostering her!WWW.REACHOUTRESCUE.ORGVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 20, 2024, 7:09 pm

Story
The following is a description of Hubert from his foster mom. Because, honestly who knows a pup better than the foster family! Hubert was found alone and scared on the interstate in Mississippi. When a nice lady stopped for him, he ran right to her. His foster family has had him vetted and neutered, and now they are treating his heartworms.  Hubert is about two years old. He is super cuddly, housebroken, crate-trained, and such a smart boy! He knows sit, stay, and down, and he will run to his crate and sit when you tell him to go to bed. He loves people and his toys, but he wants to chase the cat, and he is too high energy for the grumpy, elderly dogs in the home. So once Hubert has completed his heartworm treatment and is back to his active self, he hopes to have a forever home waiting for him. If you would like to make Hubert a part of your family please follow the link below to his adoption application https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
MEET CHAMBER!   7 year old Chamber has a big, beautiful smile and would love for his smile to greet you every morning to start your day. He is an active, friendly 86 pound Cane Corso/Lab/Pittie mix dog who has benefitted from his stay at our rescue by working on perfecting his walk as well as his leash manners and sociability, and we are so very pleased with the outcome.  He lives with and plays with dogs that are about his size or smaller, and he does well as long as he gets to know them slowly and with proper supervision. He is treat-motivated and quickly learned sit, down, and paw and we're sure you can teach him more with a handful of treats! Chamber has also worked on the 'leave it' command, making him much easier to train as he quickly returns his attention to his person when distracted by fascinating things like goats and chickens.     Chamber would prefer an active lifestyle or a large, fenced yard with plenty of attention, but at 7 years old, he has outgrown his puppy activity level, so he's very motivated for couch duty as well.   Chamber can be a bit too excited when getting treats, so we recommend he go into a home with children 10 and up. He has a prey drive and should not be in a home with cats, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, etc.   Chamber's adoption donation fee is $350, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Chamber by filling out our online application, which is found on our websitewww.tarashouse.net or www.tarashouse.org. Please email us at info@tarashouse.netwith any questions.   Can you be Chamber’s person?October 21, 2024, 8:45 pm

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Angel is 2yo, weighs 92lbs, is intact (however, her guardian will arrange for spay surgery prior to rehoming), is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Angel's guardian adds:   "Angel knows 'sit', 'down', 'paw', and will wait to eat on command.  She dislikes/fears balloons, vacuums, bikes, and car rides (she's very anxious).  She's permitted free roam of the house during the day except for bedrooms, and she sleeps on her bed or in her crate at night. Angel currently eats Authority Sensitive Stomach + Skin Lamb & Rice Formula.  Angel deserves a stable home with someone that is able to give her attention 24/7 rather than being home and occasionally walked by different dog walkers/house sitters or in boarding places… She’s also not fond of car rides so bringing her is not an option even though I’ve tried.  It hurts but I know she deserves so much better than I can offer her. I’ve went back and forth about it for months now and it’s finally time for me to make the best decision." Angel's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "Moving in August and starting a job that will require me to travel and be on the road a lot." Angel's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "Environmental allergies and we help this by wiping her completely down with Pet MD Chlorhexidine Antiseptic Wipes after coming inside from walks or playing, cleaning her crate tray every other date, minimizing dust in the house or collected on her crate, and washing her blankets and beds weekly.  Vets recommend allergy shots; however, we've used the above methods as a cost efficient way to maintain her allergies instead and it works wonders."   Angel's guardian states the following regarding children:  Angel has lived with and lives with young children, ages 3-5, so her guardian recommends her living with children, stating... "Angel is very playful and LOVES attention.  She is a gentle giant with kids of all ages.  She can get overly excited and overestimate her power when kids are excited but she knows to calm down on command.  She grew up with my daughter who was a very curious and hyperactive 3 year old.  She’s never reacted to my daughter pulling her tail, moving her food, taking her toys, or anything. We worked on all of those reactive behaviors since she was a puppy." Angel's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Angel lived with another dog, so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "Angel has lived with another dog her age for a short while.  They played very well together after being slowly introduced." Angel's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Angel has never lived with nor otherwise been around cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats. Angel's guardian describes her as: Very active Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Outdoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Angel's guardian describes her ideal future home: "Angel’s ideal family is one who is very active and lives in a single family home with lots of space for her to roam.  Fenced backyard is a plus but definitely not required.  A family with young / middle aged kids that love to be outside and can play with her is also a plus!  She will get tired and so will they! ;)" Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Edgewood, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1.
