Good With Kids: Yes, 8 and up. Good With Other Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: Tested, but has not lived with cats. Housetrained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes House Manners: Good Walks Nicely On A Leash: Yes, Tess is an easy walker Knows Basic Commands: Sit Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High):Couch Potato to Moderate Special Needs: None Physical Fence: Preferred / No Invisible Fences Nickname: Dutchess Favorite game: Fetch Arrival story: Spent a long stint at the Saginaw County Animal Shelter. Approximate age / Weight: 10-years-old and 66 lbs. Personality: The Duchess has arrived. The Duchess of Waggin’ Tails that is! Ruler of the foster dog kingdom or errr… her foster home. Tess is a spunky lady, who loves to snuggle, go for walks, play with her tiny toys and zoomie around the yard. Queen Tess is a pretty easy-going lady and loves to just hang out with her people on her throne (couch) after taking you on a parade around her kingdom (neighborhood). She knows sit, and has more of a refined palate and leans into being more of a meat and potato type of girl. Tess is kind to all her subjects (cat and dog-tested). She is nervous around new people, so a slow introduction with lots of treats is the way to this queen’s heart. New Home: She likes to hang out with her people and is a great daily walking buddy. Would be happy living with other animals, but would also be happy to eat up all the attention she truly deserve as the only Queen in your home. Are you willing to roll out the red carpet for her? Contact: Please contact wtdr@waggintailsdogrescue.org with any questions or submit adoption application via our website www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoption-application. ADOPTION INFO: We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar on our website for the date and time of the next adoption event. Story
Take a look at this big beautiful boy! 5 years old, 82 lbs, Cane Corso mix that is neutered and UTD on shots. Here’s what his foster mom says: Sweetest face & absolutely adores human companionship. Always ready for adventure with you, a car ride, meeting new friends, exploring new places, and learning new skills. House and potty trained. He is still learning that the crate is a fun and safe place. Ultimate gentleman on a leash, only pulling a little at first with the excitement of a new adventure. Knows how to sit like a king and will eagerly offer his paw—he loves showing off his good manners! He’s not much of a barker, and greets visitors with a waggy tail. Loves training games, his favorite treats are chicken bits and meatballs. He is both highly food motivated and praise motivated. Ultimate “velcro dog” in the making — snuggles, cuddles and massages are top on his list, melting into you and rolling on his back for belly rubs. His silly, playful side has started to peek out too, chasing and pouncing on tennis balls like a cat or showing off his climbing agility. He’s not just looking for a home—he’s looking for his forever family, someone who will appreciate his calm, loving nature. Monkey would enjoy a lifestyle where he can be included in your daily activities and would love to go to work with you. Currently, he shows great interest in other animals. He has been around horses and donkeys! So far, he has offered some playbows with another dog, but has not yet had an opportunity to further explore doggie friendships. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet the magnificent Miss Hetti. She is a playful, energy abundant Cane Corso, and likely, boxer mix. Her most recent weight has her up to 68lbs at around 16 months old. She loves tummy rubs, fetch, and Benebone chew toys. Hetti thrives on multiple walks per day however can over heat quickly in higher temps. She is very strong and still learning manners with passing animals so an experienced handler and dog owner is a must. She loves greeting people but due to her size and still puppy behaviors, a house with kids over 12 is preferred. For Hetti to live her best life she should be a solo canine with a large fenced yard and an active owner willing to give her the exercise and attention she needs. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. November 4, 2024, 7:53 am

Story
Meet Toph! Toph, affectionately known as Toffee, is a delightful puppy from our Avatar Litter who brings joy and excitement wherever she goes! With her wiggly body and boundless enthusiasm, she lights up every room. Toph adores her human family and is especially thrilled when it’s playtime with her doggy siblings! She enjoys daycare, walks, and playtime in the backyard. When it's time to relax, Toph loves to cuddle up and recharge. She’s the perfect blend of active and affectionate, often sneaking in kisses and seeking a lap to curl up in. Described by her foster as the ultimate love bug, she greets you at the door with endless tail wags! This spirited girl has a heart full of love for everyone, including cats! She’s eager to shower them with kisses and gentle nudges, though her excitement may need a little guidance. Toph thrives in a home with other dogs where she can play and roughhouse to her heart's content. She would do best with older children, another dog, and an active family (or person) who can provide her with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Toph is potty trained, crate trained, and currently learning basic commands and manners. Her eagerness to learn, especially when treats are involved, makes her a wonderful training companion! She needs a dedicated home that’s committed to helping her grow into the best version of herself. She would prefer a home with another dog, but will also do well with children or someone who is physically active. She is full of energy and really needs someone who can run, walk, and play with her daily. Adoptions are based on connection and chemistry. Adoption is $325 and includes spay/neuter at our vet when age appropriate, vaccines to date of adoption, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Story
Meet Aang! He is a puppy from our Avatar Litter. He was born on March 10, 2024 and is a Cane Corso/Lab/Presa Canario/Pit mix. Aang is an active, adventurous boy who loves to explore outside, play with his canine foster siblings, and run around to get his zoomies out. He is a dog who would enjoy an active lifestyle where he can go on daily walks, go hiking, and be outdoors often. After a busy day, he loves to sprawl out wherever he fits and does love the occasional cuddle session. He likes to where you are and what you are doing, but is independent and likes to do his own thing. He is outgoing, friendly, and eager to meet new people. He has grown up with dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks. Aang can be a bit overzealous with cats, but it is out of excitement and wanting to be friends rather than being mean. He also is good with children. He truly is a friend to all. Aang is a smart boy. He is crate trained and 95% potty trained. He only has accidents if he is busy playing and waits to long to go outside. Aang knows "sit", "outside", "gentle" and "leave it", and is working on other basic commands. He would prefer a home with another dog, but would do well as the only dog in an active home, a home with kids, or a home where there are often dogs to socialize with. If you have an adult do, they will accompany you during the meet and greet, and will help select the best match based on who gravitates toward you and your dog. Adoptions are based on connection and chemistry. Adoption is $325 and includes spay/neuter at our vet when age appropriate, vaccines to date of adoption, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All our Cane lovers come check out adoptable Enzo!  He was found near 8 mile in Detroit while hanging around a job site.  He is an active boy who LOVES to play catch.  He is great at the fetching part, he returns about 75% of the time, but he’s working on it!  We are still learning his personality, but he seems to be a confident boy who knows what he wants.  This fits the breed description and as such will ideally go to a home with Cane or Mastiff experience.  He likes people but barks at new people who come around his space, again, standard for the breed.  He has got along well with a few chill female pups hes met and would probably be good with a relaxed female sister.  No cats for this boy and kids above the age of 13.  If you are looking for a beautiful Cane with a great life ahead of him please apply to meet Enzo today!  His approximate birth date is March 2021.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 5:23 pm
