Story
Take a look at this big beautiful boy! His foster mom calls him Monkey Marcel (FKA Rustic Adobe) because he can climb fences. Monkey stole our hearts at the Detroit shelter because he was just so shut down and only wanted to come up to you and bury his head in your chest while you gave him pets. 5 years old, 82 lbs, Cane Corso mix that is neutered and UTD on shots. Here’s what his foster mom says: Sweetest face & absolutely adores human companionship. Always ready for adventure with you, a car ride, meeting new friends, exploring new places, and learning new skills. House and potty trained. He is still learning that the crate is a fun and safe place. Ultimate gentleman on a leash, only pulling a little at first with the excitement of a new adventure. Knows how to sit like a king and will eagerly offer his paw—he loves showing off his good manners! He’s not much of a barker, and greets visitors with a waggy tail. Loves training games, his favorite treats are chicken bits and meatballs. He is both highly food motivated and praise motivated. Ultimate “velcro dog” in the making — snuggles, cuddles and massages are top on his list, melting into you and rolling on his back for belly rubs. His silly, playful side has started to peek out too, chasing and pouncing on tennis balls like a cat or showing off his climbing agility. He’s not just looking for a home—he’s looking for his forever family, someone who will appreciate his calm, loving nature. Monkey would enjoy a lifestyle where he can be included in your daily activities and would love to go to work with you. Currently, he shows great interest in other animals. He has been around horses and donkeys! So far, he has offered some playbows with another dog, but has not yet had an opportunity to further explore doggie friendships. Story
Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Birdy and according to my DNA test I am a Presa Canario which is a Mastiff originating from the Canary Islands but, don't let my breed fool you, l am not a large dog! You've heard of "Toy Poodles" well meet the world's first "Toy Mastiff"! I did not have a great start to life and suffered through starvation, neglect, and backyard breeding which has stunted my growth, so l am not the large Mastiff I was meant to be. I will let my foster mom tell you a little more about me! Meet Little Bird aka Birdy! Grab your tissues because Birdy has a heck of a story. Birdy has experienced the type of neglect that you can't imagine actually happens to animals, she is only about a year old and lived in a too small crate and was starved her whole life, she was urine stained, and skin and bones when she came to me and missing quite a bit of hair from skin and ear infections. Because of her neglect her front legs are bowed, and she has "duck feet" and to put it bluntly she's pretty awkward looking, but other than not being a running partner and having a funny gait, she doesn't seem to have any issues getting around. Birdy despite her past loves all people, enjoys being the little spoon at night and gives the best hugs! Birdy loves other dogs but is still learning boundaries so supervised play time and separation with toys is recommended at first. Birdy currently lives with a 90lbs Pittie, they coexist and play very well together, but I separate them with toys. Birdy is crate trained, quiet in the house, sits politely for mealtime, rides great in the car, and is very very food motivated. If you are looking for a dog that hits you right in the heart every time you look at her because you know what she survived and how far she has come, then Birdy is the girl for you! Birdy has not been tested with cats, but we are willing to travel for meet and greets. Birdy currently weighs about 45ish Ibs but still needs to put weight on. Birdy enters training on Jan. 10th, so hurry for meet and greets!  Birdy is spayed and UTD on all their vaccines, HW, FT, and have a microchip of their own. RPSM recommends children 6 years and older.  Birdy will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting Birdy, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. Birdy’s adoption fee is $300. ##2195782##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Bleux! This handsome 1-year-old Cane Corso has a heart full of love and a spirit that shines bright, despite his rough past. Rescued from a home where he was overlooked, Bleux is now ready to find his forever family! He’s a true “velcro dog,” always seeking human affection and companionship. Bleux gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would love a female pup to relax and enjoy life with. He thrives on a calm environment and enjoys a chill lifestyle, with just 1-2 walks a day. While he’s strong and still working on his training, he’s eager to learn and grow. A home with experience in training or familiarity with mastiff breeds would be ideal for this gentle giant. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will be by your side through thick and thin, Bleux is the dog for you! Can you give him the love and attention he deserves? Meet Cleo! This big beautiful girl is settling into her foster home so well! She's approx 2 years old and an 80 pound lap dog 🤗 She wants to be near you at all times and is the best cuddle buddy! Here’s what her foster mom has learned about her: -LOVES playing with toys. She could play for hours! -Needs a home with older children because of her size -Good with dogs and cats with slow intros. Has the urge to chase speedy cats. Otherwise she just gives them a few sniffs - Very food motivated - Can pull hard on the leash (we're working on it) but is easily redirected! - Very good at fetch - Knows sit and lay down - Crate trained and doing well with potty training (only pees from excitement of putting her harness on)

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely.
