We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! Good with kids, Good with cats, Needs special attention,
Story
I got him from a friend who was going to have him put down because he is paraplegic. Either his mom or some human stepped on him smashing his hind quarter. He gets around without any extra contraptions. He is a good boy! He loves to cuddle! He has been an inside dog for as long as I have had him. I do let him out in the backyard but he really does not like outdoors for a long period of time He will be 1 year old on September 4.2024. He has only had his first shots! With my busy schedule, I do not have time to fully commit to his needs!

Glassman A16758290 lb. neutered male, approx 4 years old ⛱️Slightly older guy who seems like a puppy still🕶️Chases toys but doesn’t know what to think of them⛱️Absolutely loves treats!🕶️He is a smartie and knows sit, shake and lay down.⛱️Can catch snacks too! Also takes them gently if hand feeding him.🕶️Sweet boy who will jump up on your lap for pets⛱️Walks pretty good on a leash but I’m sure if he wants to go somewhere, you will too 🤷🏼‍♀️😂🕶️Good boy! ⛱️Was excited to meet all the people who passed🕶️Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids. Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. 📣To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** 📣The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-3:30 BUT our adoptions are done 7 days a week from 10:30am -3:00pm. 📣The last potential adopter must arrive before 3:00 pm so we have time to properly help you before closing. 📣1431 E Ferry St. DetroitUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids.Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.
