She was surrendered to the shelter along with her sister when their owner moved and was unable to take them. Bella is such a sweet girl and loved by all. She seems to get along with other dogs but does need to go to a home with no cats. I should mention, she will also need to go to a home where belly rubs will be given multiple times throughout the day! She has already been spayed is ready to go home! Duke is a handsome 2-year old male Boxer mix who was brought to the HSOV on January 30, 2024 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who had picked Duke up (along with his beautiful sister Lucy) on Dana's Run Road in the Newport Ohio area. Duke has a dark brown/black short smooth coat in a brindle pattern, a large white bib on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face brindle/white face with beautiful brown eyes, a black button nose, and short floppy ears. These photos were taken on February 3, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Sydney Satow spent time with Duke for his Petfinder/Facebook/Adoptapet photos. Duke weighs approximately 65 lbs and is very strong on a leash. Duke has already been neutered and was given rabies vaccine on February 14, 2023. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Duke was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Neither Duke (nor his sister Lucy) were reclaimed. We've learned that Duke does NOT do well with other dogs (or cats), so he would be looking for a home that he did not have to share with other animals.

Lucy is a beautiful 2-year old female Boxer mix who was brought to the HSOV on January 30, 2024 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who picked Lucy up (and also her good-looking brother Duke) after they were found on Dana's Run Road in the Newport Ohio area. Lucy has a black-and-white short smooth coat with an intriguing pattern, a long tail, and an adorable face with a large black "pirate's patch" around her left eye, a black button nose on her chubby muzzle, and short floppy ears. Lucy has a vivacious outgoing personality and was ready for 'action photos' when HSOV Kennel Tech Bradyn Morris accompanied her for outdoor glamour photos on the afternoon of February 3, 2024. Lucy weighs 47.3 lbs and is surprisingly very strong on a leash since she isn't a very big girl when you see her in person. Lucy has already been spayed and was given rabies vaccine on February 14, 2023. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Lucy was held for three days so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Neither Lucy nor Duke were reclaimed. We've learned that Lucy is selective about making friends with other dogs and chooses those that she likes or dislikes. Lucy does NOT do well with cats and should not be placed in home where she would have contact with feline friends.

Hexa is a beautiful young female dog (possibly a Boxer/Plott Hound mix) who was placed in one of our outside kennels (HSOV in Marietta Ohio) during the overnight- or early morning hours on April 29, 2024. She was accompanied by her female companion Juniper (possibly a Rottweiler mix) who was placed in an adjacent kennel. Neither of the girls were wearing a collar. Hexa has a brown/brindle short smooth coat, a long tail, and a pretty face with brown eyes, a black button nose, and large floppy ears. She is the smaller of the pair. Hexa weighs 49 lbs. Both of the girls were understandably nervous/scared being penned up in an unfamiliar place, and they weren't quite ready to put on their happy face and pose for glamour pictures in our outdoor photo area .. So the 'paparazzi' patiently spent time with them and listened to them verbalizing their apprehension in the only way they knew how (by barking and putting up a brave front). After 10-15 minutes or so of quiet conversation on the paparazzi's side of the kennel gate (whispering sweet nothings through the fencing and telling them what good girls they were and that they were in good hands), they eventually began to wag their tails and decided that lady posed no threat to them .. And they relaxed enough in order to take some preliminary photos. We look forward to taking more flattering pictures when the girls realize that they are indeed with their new best friends (our HSOV kennel techs and staff) who love them unconditionally. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, these girls will be held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership.

Bendi is a cute overgrown (perhaps 7-months old) female Boxer mix puppy was found on County Road 9 in Washington County Ohio and brought to the HSOV on the evening of October 6, 2024. She was not wearing a collar, and she was not microchipped. This young lady has a sleek dark brown/brindle short smooth coat with a small patch of white on her chest, a long tail, and an adorable face with expressive brown eyes, a black button nose, and large floppy ears which she sometimes holds semi-erect. Thanks to HSOV Kennel Tech Madison Lee for accompanying this little sweetheart for outdoor photos on the afternoon of October 7th and giving Bendi loving attention while she posed for 'glamour shots' and engaged Madison in fun-and-games. Bendi has a happy super-sweet, friendly personality and is full of playful energy. She weighs 38 lbs but has the appearance of a much smaller dog when you see her in person. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Bendi will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership.

Roscoe was surrendered to the shelter on 2/19/2024. They had too many dogs to afford to care for them. Sadly, Roscoe was living tied to a box most of his life. He spent a little time indoors in the beginning. Roscoe is such a handsome man and a sweetheart. Surprisingly he is house trained! We are guessing him to be a Boxer/Mastiff mix. The owners weren't sure what breed he was. He is now neutered and up to date on his vaccines. He needs a home without livestock or cats. He does fine with other dogs and hasn't bothered any of them. He is spending his days indoors and resting on his bed. He could sleep for hours. Roscoe does well with all adult and children. Adoption fee is $150.00
