Story

Our baby girl came to us right from her mommy at 8 weeks old as a companion for our granddaughter (who lives with us) during a difficult time in her life. She absolutely brought great joy and healing over the two years they spent growing together. It is with a heavy heart that I have come to this place but I am convinced it is the right thing to do for Remi. Our granddaughter has just finished high school, and is more consumed with the her friends, activities and work. She is rarely home so little time is being spent with her friend who craves attention and needs interaction. With my husband's and my work schedule, I feel badly that she spends so much time home alone. Being that we are older now we just don't have the energy to accomodate what she needs and it would be better while she is still young to adjust to a new family. She is house trained but may have an accident now and then. Ten, fifteen minutes a day of playtime makes her the happiest doggie ever. She is a very sweet girl!

My wife and I were excited to adopt Inverness last March and welcome her into our family. Since that time, both of our work schedules have become more demanding, making it very difficult to give Inverness the attention that she needs. She is very high energy, and loves to run around the yard. She is crate trained, and house-trained, going potty outside before each meal and once again 2 hours after. We have had her on a vegetarian diet since we got her, and she's thriving on it.

Name: Yumi Age: About 2-3 years Weight: About 66 lbs Likes/Favorite Activities: • Belly Rubs • Giving High-5 • Walks • Treats • Meals! • Running in the yard • Being near her people • ATTENTION! • Chewing on bones • Sleeping next to someone • Snoring • Wiggling her butt Dislikes: Being alone (without people) & baths Personality/Temperament: VERY fun loving and super sweet. Listens well and takes correction from other dogs. Happy girl! Energy Level: Moderate (rather typical for a dog her age) Favorite Treat(s): ANY, she isn’t picky! Eating Schedule: Twice per day (approx. 6 am & 6 pm) She is good with our dogs and cats. She has also been good with the kids she has been around (kids of all ages). She is housetrained with the occasional accident but that is decreasing the longer she is with us. She goes to the door if she has to go out. However, we tend to let our pups out more often than “normal” due to our other pups (not due to Yumi!) Crate Trained: She was using her crate when we were not home, however she does not love it. She tends to carry on when in the crate. Challenges: Honestly none that we have identified yet Medical Issues: Thankfully, none that we have identified. She does have an old injury to her back left leg, likely a partial tear that wasn't treated and has healed. This can cause some soreness with extended exercise. The BEST Home: One where she will be able to enjoy some activity and have companionship, with shorter periods of time when her humans aren’t home. Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-1.5 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $100.00 {$75 if Senior} of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue. Meet Jamison This poor boy was adopted from the rescue as a puppy. A couple years later he was returned due to a divorce. He came back to the shelter scared of new people and unsure of dogs. The volunteers worked with him to build his confidence back up and he was adopted again to only be returned a year later due to another separation. Rebel is a beautiful boxer mix who is looking for an active family to be his forever family. Rebel is a sweet boy who was living with his sister in a home that couldn’t meet his needs. Rebel is good with kids, likes other dogs, good with cats, neutered, utd on vaccines, clear on hw/lymes. Rebel is crate trained but will need work with housebreaking. Previous owner said she purchased him as a purebred boxer with an uncropped tail but he is definitely a mix. Rocky would do best with a fenced yard. Rebels sisters adopter had a dna run on her and they are 65 0/0 boxer mixed with bulldog and a few other breeds. I put results in photos.

Brindle Pitt looking for a new forever home. We rescued him a little over 2 years ago and never had a problem. (He did show aggression at the rescue place he was at towards other dogs, they believe he was used for fighting as he has a few scars on his legs but he was found on the side of the road) He did a meet and greet with our 2 little pups (chihuahuas) with no problem (his aggression was towards larger dogs) he has lived with them for almost 3 years with no problem. He just recently started showing small signs of aggression and we came home to my little pup dead. He had killed him. he just hasn’t been the same since. He shows absolutely no signs of aggression with kids or people at all only other animals. He would do great in a home where he is by himself.
