He can be caught rubbing himself deep into his foster brothers bed…to lounging in the afternoon sun. He is content to play quietly with his toys when his foster Mom has to be in a work zoom call. Justin isnt destructive…. His limited vision in his left eye does not slow him down one bit. But he can be seen stealing a plastic cup to fling around and cause a ruckus, guaranteed to make you laugh out loud! Justin truly loves other dogs, he says hello to his foster brother and sister first when he comes out of his crate.

1/11/25 Piper has recovered well from her spay and we also received the great news that she is now heartworm negative. She does great on walks and doesn’t get phased by people walking by. A friend’s boxer visited and she did great with him. Her foster family is working on exposing her to new things. She is a southern girl and does not like the cold. Piper gets along great with her boxer fur-brother. She would do well with a family that has another dog because she is always following the other dog in her home. Piper loves toys that she can carry around in her mouth. She is able to be left alone during the work day and there is a dog walker that comes mid-day to let her out and feed her. Piper is going to be a great addition to a family. Apply today to give this girl a forever home of her own. 12/19/24 Piper arrived at her new foster home in Virginia on Thanksgiving evening. She has had a busy three weeks, including a trip to a pet resort to tell Santa her Christmas wishes. She has done well staying home alone with her foster brother, an older male boxer. Piper has also done well with visitors, including dogs. She loves to sit on your lap and give hugs. Piper loves balls and will often bring them to bed with her. Piper is scheduled to have some vetting updated and her spay completed soon. 7/13/24 Piper was found by animal control roaming the streets in search of food and shelter. She was quite emaciated and tired. Within a few days of receiving vet care and good quality meals, her personality began to shine. She has beat the odds and survived her life on the streets. Piper loves to give hugs! She is extremely gentle and longs for affection. The ideal home for her would have a fenced in yard. Any home would be lucky to share their life and love with this sweet girl.

Hero came to PCHS as a local stray unclaimed. He was traveling with another dog, that was hit and killed by a car. Hero is a very active dog, adjusting well to having daily care and TLC. He is housebroken, but will need additional leash walking training. Hero is food motivated. He would benefit with an active home and lifestyle with reassurance. Hero loves to splash around in water! Betty Boop is a 32 lb spayed female dog that is Heartworm negative and current on all core vaccines. She is likely a Boxer/ Staffordshire Terrier mix that is likely 2 years old according to a veterinarian . She is friendly with dogs and people but does not like a dog right in her face. She will correct an energetic dog in her face initially but then became best friends with the same pup! Boop was about to be put down in the San Antonio kill shelter due to lack of space. So we pulled her and brought her to our rescue in Pa. When we cat tested her, she was a maybe! She barked at the cat at first but when helper corrected her, she stopped. UPDATE: Welcome Brutus to CHBR! Thank God this sweet fella made it out of Texas and is with a CHBR foster. Brutus is visually impaired but that doesn’t stop him from being the love bug he is and navigating his space like a champ! He LOVES his people and is dog friendly..he would be ok as an only child as well. Brutus is only a baby, younger than originally thought, maybe 2-3 and looking for a forever home.
