Questions about Elton and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the rescue's number.*** In early August 2025, SoCo Rescue was contacted by the Wheeler Co., GA Sheriff's Department and asked to assist in the removal of a number of puppies and dogs after their owners had been arrested for animal abuse/neglect charges. Once he arrived at the scene, Scott Bennett met both local and state law enforcement officers who had raided the residence. Among the number of dogs living in horrible conditions, officers from both the sheriff's department and the GA. Dept. of Agriculture removed "approximately 50 chickens" from inside the home. SoCo Rescue was able to assist by taking in five young pups, two older pups and the mom to the younger litter. Living in a nasty kennel that sat as far away from the home as possible and directly on top of dirt that bore the stench of urine and feces was our "E" litter of pups. Inside the kennel were water bowls that obviously hadn't contained any water in a while. And due to the indifference shown towards the pups by their owner, what little food they were fed was simply dumped onto the ground, meaning the pups were also ingesting the bacteria that had accumulated within the kennel. While very thin and full of worms of all sorts, the puppies all made a remarkable recovery after getting much needed TLC from the SoCo staff. Elton's very friendly and playful personality will make him a great addition into just about any home situation. He loves the attention he receives from people and returns it many times over. Giving this fellow a chance in your home will be one of the best decisions you'll ever make. Elton is neutered & has now received an update on his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and preventative care (flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.) We're unsure as to how Hanns got his lip injury, but we have had it treated by the vet and he will always have a permanent snaggletooth which just makes him more adorable. Hanns has shown his sweet, playful, and goofy sides, but he has also shown he doesn't like to be separated by a fence from other dogs. He will start barking at them which we're working on at the rescue, but he can be out with all the dogs without issues. He's able to be out and play with other dogs throughout the day. This boy would do well in a home where he can be reassured he's safe, where he's loved, and he will need discipline to learn better fence manners. Don't let anything deter you from this baby. He's a bowlegged squat man with a unique face and tons of love to give.Once he puts on safe weight and is neutered, he will be ready to go to a forever home.
