Story
This beautiful Boxer mix is Poppy! She arrived at the shelter as a lost girl on 11/4, and no one has come to reclaim her. Poppy is now keeping her paws crossed for a new forever home where she will be loved and kept safe so that she never ends up back in the shelter. The volunteers have enjoyed getting to know Poppy and describe her as friendly and sweet, but initially a little shy. This is probably due to the loud, overwhelming shelter environment. We're sure once she's in a loving home, her personality will really shine! Poppy is attentive to the people around her and does know how to sit nicely when asked. It appears she has had puppies in the past, but she'll soon be taking the "no more puppies" pledge. If Poppy sounds like the new BFF you've been searching for, please come meet her today! Poppy is approximately 2 years old, and she weighs 43 lbs. She is UTD on vaccines, and she will be spayed, microchipped, and heartworm tested upon adoption. Poppy is waiting patiently in run 82; her ID # is 7344. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.

Story
A FUN, PLAYFUL & ACTIVE GUY:  Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 35 lbs.  Hi, my name is Asher!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I’m very grateful.  The volunteers are taken with my unusual breed mix and my handsome ginger brindle coat, and compact body.  I bet you will be too! I spent some time in the prison/foster training program offsite and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, though I can be barky when I see other dogs – not to worry – my trainer will show you how to introduce me to other dogs, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I get a little excited to see children, so kids age 10+ would be the best fit for me, as I wouldn’t want to bump over younger children and toddlers.  Of course, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet guy who has earned the reputation of being ‘goofy and funny’ around the shelter.  I’m happy with a fun nature, and sure to be a great addition to your family.  I am full of playful energy and am not shy about speaking my mind, so I don’t think an apartment/condo type home would be a good fit for me. I’m a lot of dog in a little package. I’m also very sweet and fun! I was a very good boy, calm and sweet for my shelter bath.  Affectionate and social, I have all the traits of a great companion. I, however, am not the kind of dog you would take to the kids’ sporting events, or a busy park, etc. since I can be reactive. / My energy level is 6–8, so I am looking for a family member who will be active with me.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  I get distracted by sounds I hear on my walk that I don’t recognize, so my trainer is using the ‘leave it’ command to keep me on track on our walks.  I’m very food motivated, so that makes my training fun and yummy! / I’m doing well in my little room at Mostly Mutts. / I’ve had only a couple of accidents on the shelter schedule, so I think I’ll do well in my new home once I know our schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I LOVE toys and enjoy having fun with them when the volunteers break them out at the shelter.  I’d enjoy a nice, fenced yard where we can have lots of play sessions together.  When it’s time to chill, I always enjoy a good petting.  I also enjoy my walks, but I need a strong walker, as I am a strong boy and can be reactive to people and other animals on walks.  / I have been frightened by certain loud motors, the vacuum etc. so I don’t like those. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a dog savvy family where I will be a cherished family member!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  January 25, 2025, 7:00 pm

Story
A SWEET & ACTIVE FRIEND:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 38 lbs.    Hi, I’m Kaylyn!  I was rescued from animal control, and I sure am happy about that!  I’ve been enjoying my time with the nice volunteers and now I hear that I’m ready to find my new family to love and be loved by – yippie!  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program off site and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met some other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, and I wanted to play with them, too.  But sometimes, the shelter environment has stressed me out during playdates, so it’s been a bit hit or miss.  I’ve also pulled towards other dogs that I see on my walks because I’m so excited and just want to play with them!  So, if you have a dog at home already who would like a friend, let’s meet with my trainer away from the shelter to see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m described as fun, playful, friendly, sweet, and active – ready to enjoy the good life with my family! I can see us going for walks, playing and discovering lots of things to do together. I was a good girl for my shelter bath and brush out too. / My energy level is 6 – 8 and can be higher if I haven’t had enough exercise, so I’d like to be active with my family.   • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program, so, I've mastered the 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'come', 'drop it', 'leave it' and 'place' commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners using my EZ walk harness or gentle leader, as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. I think that the stress of being at the shelter got to me, as a dog barked at me while I was on a walk and startled me, so I redirected and snapped at my walker leaving a mark on them.  /  My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty manners were very good in the prison foster training program.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to zoom around in the MM play yard with the volunteers, so I’m sure I’d enjoy a fenced yard in my new home where we can play together.  I also love playing with toys and spending time with people.  On our recent Georgia snow day, I had the absolute best time catching snowballs that the volunteers threw for me!  / I can’t think of any dislikes but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re looking for a wonderful friend to be active and have fun with, we could be great together!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  January 25, 2025, 12:22 pm

Story
Friends to the Forlorn Adopt-a-BullCant Adopt? Apply to Foster Kali Today!Breed: Pit Bull Gender: Female Estimated Date of Birth: May 23, 2012 Size:  50lbs Location:  Dallas, GA RESCUING KALI In June 2012, three puppies were dumped at Animal Control. They were only a few days old and without a mom so their chances of survival were slim. The next day, Animal Control brought in a lactating female. Although she may or may not have been the real mom, she stepped up to the challenge. The mom and AC Staff did everything they could, but two pups died. The wonderful people at Animal Control reached out to us and agreed to hold the mom and the surviving female puppy for a few weeks until we could pick them up. The mom was treated for heartworms. The puppy, Kali, was a healthy girl. Once she was ready to leave her mom, we felt confident that Kali would be on to a loving home, but we were wrong.  ABOUT KALI Kali has been with the Forlorn family her entire life of 11 years and counting. Her dream and our dream for her is to spend her remaining years in a home of her own. Why hasn't Kali been adopted? It could not be because of her personality because she is the happiest dog on the planet!  Kali has a zest for life and she loves toys! She'll zoom around with any toy you give her. She is completely happy to run around with a ball in her mouth all afternoon. Kali is a bundle of fun-loving energy that would enjoy any activity as long as she is with her people. She would be a fantastic running or hiking partner. She would even just be happy to chase the ball around the yard for you. Seriously, this girl could play fetch for days. Playing fetch with a Chuck-It would be a dream for her. Due to Kali being housed in the rescue her entire life, she has never been around children. Therefore, a home without children would be ideal. She has not been around cats or other dogs either, so in order for her to succeed in a home she needs to be an only four-legged child. She is crate and house-trained.  Photo Album of Kali: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.531860010205503.1073741859.162554320469409&type=1&l=eff6e419eb Our adoption fee is $300. Story
Friends to the Forlorn Adopt-a-BullBreed: Pit Bull Mix Gender: Female Estimated Date of Birth: August 9, 2015 Size:  48lbs Location: Dallas, GA RESCUING RIBLETT Riblett, formerly known as Kate, was picked up as a stray and taken to Gwinnett County Animal Services. She had been hit by a car so on top of being emaciated at merely 20 lbs and filled with worms, she also had a badly fractured hip. We had a foster home open up for a young female puppy so when GCAS reached out to us for help, we just so happened to have the perfect foster home for this little girl. Riblett got her freedom ride and we rushed her over to our vet at New Hope Animal Hospital. After Riblett's pelvis healed, she had FHO surgery on her hip to remove the ball of her femur and allow her to heal more quickly and have less pain. She also had a TPLO on her knee.  ABOUT RIBLETT Riblett, whom we affectionately call Roo, is a funny girl that likes to play catch until she sees you have treats, then she comes running and sits at your feet. Even in her older age, she still loves to run and play outside. Riblett needs to be the only pet in the home, but she would make the most adorable and incredible solo companion. She is one of the most sweet, loving dogs in the rescue- though that love only extends to people (not other dogs or cats). She will happily cuddle with you after a long day to make all your troubles disappear. The best thing about an older dog is that they come fully trained-no potty training, no crate training- all done for you. She loves her people and has been waiting a long time for a forever family to scoop her up and make her life complete! Photo Album of Riblett: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1055359244522241.1073742135.162554320469409&type=1&l=acc5ffcf59 Video Playlist of Riblett: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYDnJXruR1h1-L2AkKYdIwwCcSW0D-rqS Our adoption fee is $300. Story
Friends to the Forlorn Adopt-a-BullBreed: Great Dane/American Bulldog Gender: Male Estimated Date of Birth: April 15, 2012 Size:  85lbs Location:  Dallas, GA RESCUING STONE Stone was originally adopted from Douglas County Animal Control when he was a small pup. That family gave him to another family, who then gave him to a third family, and he ended up a Fulton County Animal Control. He was next in line to get put to sleep at the shelter and we were able to pull him on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. ABOUT STONE Stone is a giant. Our best guess is that he’s a Great Dane/American Bulldog mix. He is a big, playful goof and he loves toys … although he has not quite learned to bring them back to you. Stone does not understand his size or strength. It is very clear that a lack of basic obedience and being dumped several times in his formative years has affected him immensely. Stone is not very trusting of new people. He takes time to warm up and can be rather intimidating due to his size and behavior. He is reactive when in public to people and other dogs. Once he trusts you, you are part of his inner circle and he will show you his true personality. His true personality shines … he is fun loving, sweet, and silly. Because his previous owners simply dumped him off onto the next family, he lacked all leadership and guidance in his formative years so he does not know what behavior is acceptable and what is not. Stone does jump up on people and could benefit from some serious obedience training. He is reactive on leash in public and will require a strong owner. Stone also has trust issues and insecurities with strangers due to his previous life experiences. He will require a 6 foot privacy fence and a strong, experienced owner that is willing to take the time to get to know him and work with him on obedience. Due to his size and behavioral concerns, we do not recommend Stone for a home with children. Photo Album of Stone: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.651126088278894.1073741982.162554320469409&type=1&l=16f60a320e More Video of Stone playing outside: http://youtu.be/SrHvtZB5MWI More Video of Stone: http://youtu.be/tmvpDkCAl3s Our adoption fee is $300.
