Story
Barney is a male, 4 year old Boxer mix, and is such a friendly boy! It is impossible not to smile around this boy, anything and everything makes him so happy and brings out his big smile (and will likely bring yours out too)! Barney has a wide range of facial expressions, from a silly grin to goofy looks to his trademark big HAPPY smile! He has a funny way of letting his tongue hang out sideways, has crazy zoomies that will leave you giggling, and loves giving kisses! He’s great with other dogs and kids, and is very curious about kitties! Barney has the zoomies when first brought out, but chills out until you tell him he’s a pretty boy … and then he’s all tail wags and happy hops again! Barney is pretty good on a leash, and even though he pulls a little bit, he will follow your lead. He is eager to go walking, meet new people, or basically to do anything that you want to do. Could that include going home with you? It’s time to meet Barney and find out! The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Story
Wendi is a one year old female Boxer mix, who has the cutest smile ever! She is quiet and low key while in her cage, which sadly makes it easy for her to be overlooked as potential adopters walk through her area. But once she is taken out on a leash, Wendi’s big smile and wiggles show just how happy she is to be taken on a walk with you! After her initial excitement of getting out, she calms down quickly and is good on a leash. We have noticed that she is way too interested in the feral cats at the shelter, so we feel a home without cats would suit her best.  Wendi seems to be a little camera shy, because as soon as the camera came out during her “photo shoot”, she avoided looking directly at it! Still, the pictures show her adorable way of posing in a Down position, with her back legs fully sprawled out behind her. This sweet girl would be so happy in her furever home with people to love, lots of toys, and a nice soft bed. Story
Topher is a male Boxer mix, who is about 10 months old. He is a “chonky” boy with adorable spots on his face and a stubby tail, making him the cutest hunk of a dog ever! He came in to the shelter with several siblings, and currently lives in the same pen with his sister Joan. Topher is the more outgoing sibling of the two, so he is the first to greet people who approach their pen. He is super sweet, friendly and LOVES getting attention from people. Topher just has so much love to give, and wants to share that with you! Topher is fairly new to leash walks, but volunteers have been working with him and he is quickly improving as he learns the joys of a leash walk. Topher is a young and smart boy, and simply needs a loving home to let him reach his full potential as a wonderful companion. Is that home with you? Please meet Topher soon, and find out! Story
Joan is a female Boxer mix, who is about 10 months old. She came in to the shelter with several siblings, and currently lives with her brother Topher in the same pen together. Joan is much more shy than her brother, and typically lets him greet people first when they approach their pen. Soft treats and gentle words will usually help Joan warm up to someone new. Most of all, this super sweet girl simply needs time to learn to trust a new person. And once she does, Joan will absolutely adore you! It’s at that point that her precious and oh-so-lovable personality shines out. Joan has been a little unsure about leash walks, but volunteers are working with her such that she is quickly learning that the leash results in wonderful things. She is young and eager to please, so will thrive in a home wanting to provide additional training to let her blossom into an even more amazing companion. If you’re ready to welcome a beautiful pup full of love into your life, Joan is eagerly waiting to start your life together! Be sure to meet this precious girl soon! Story
Marley is a rescue. He was in a gym bag with about 8 other litter mates, and was thrust into our hands. The mom had apparently stopped feeding him. We brought him home and bottle fed him until he was ready for chow/kibble. He is fully up to date on shots and is healthy. He is recently neutered and microchipped. He has been raised with a 4 yr old Boston Terrier, and plays appropriately with him. He is quite skittish, until he gets to know you, and is skidding around other dogs; however, NOT aggressive towards people or other dogs. He does bark at strangers, but does not try to bite. He requires more than what we can give him. His current living situation is with my parents: a mom who has Osteoporosis and scoliosis and my father who is handicap. Due to his playful nature, he has jumped on my mom causing her to fall twice. He is a very smart dog and knows a few commands, but needs someone who is patient, willing to work with him, give him a lot of snuggles. He needs rehoming immediately.
