All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped. * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 25th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered. Adoption Fee: $700 Toby is a 6 month old Boxer x Beagle mix who’s ready to rock and roll his way into your heart! Toby was found wandering the streets of San Jose by good samaritans who did their best to find his former home. When that wasn’t possible, they got him seen by a vet and are now hoping to find him a new landing place where he can grow and thrive. Toby currently weighs around 35 pounds and will probably max out around 50 pounds. If you’re ready for adventure with a canine best friend, come and meet Toby! Toby is a happy and loving puppy ready to make the world his own! He loves to play with his humans, his toys, and his canine foster brother. He adores his humans and loves knowing where everyone is. He is the perfect mix of active and laid back, especially for a large-breed puppy. According to his foster mom, he is 50% playful and 50% loungey. He loves his long walks though and would be an amazing addition to an active home looking to explore the outdoors. We could see Toby thriving in a variety of homes, as long as there is plenty of love in store for him! He loves having a playful companion but he could also thrive solo! He’s just ready to be your happy and faithful companion. He is also super smart as well as food motivated and has picked up tons of tricks in the time he has been with his foster people. You won’t find a better more amazing companion than Mr. Toby! Toby wakes up at 7 AM and heads outside to stretch and go potty. He gets lots of pets and hugs before he relaxes as his humans start their day. He has breakfast at 8 AM inside of his crate and then spends some time playing with his toys and relaxing. He goes on a walk around 11 AM before returning home for an afternoon of napping and playing with his toys. At 4 PM he practices some of his tricks before he goes on another walk, followed by some playtime at the park. He has dinner at 7 PM and then plays with his toys. He winds down around 9 PM and heads to bed after one last potty break. Toby currently lives with a large dog and they get along very well. He loves humans of all ages as long as they will play with him! Toby walks well on the leash and loves his strolls. He is house trained. Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.   She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.   Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Story

Judge is a one of a kind dog. He is SO smart, so eager to learn, and is a love bug. I rescued him 7 months ago and discovered he was reactive to other dogs. Since then, he has done lots of one-on-one training and a seven board and train camp. This guy can walk past dogs without barking/lunging and can stay focused on his handler in almost any situation. His improvement has been mind blowing from where we started. He needs an owner who can give him a very structured lifestyle. Judge has a high drive and needs mentally/physically exercised daily. He also needs an owner who is willing to continue his training (which I have to say I have discovered a passion for because of this dog, it is so rewarding and fun!) because Judge still struggles with strangers he doesn’t know coming into the house. He has nipped guests before when left free to roam the house while they are over, but that truly was my fault for not doing a slow introduction. That is his last big training hurdle!

This is Lupe, who looks more like a tiger than a wolf! She has the most beautiful markings and is a very sweet girl. She’s pretty shy of humans at first, but absolutely adores other dogs, especially males. We are not sure of her history, but she definitely has had some puppies, so may have been bred for her looks, while not getting much human attention herself. That’s about to change for the better for Lupe! When playing with other dogs, she really opens up and starts to get comfortable, not just with the dogs, but also with the human friends around. Lupe doesn’t have much experience walking on a leash yet, but she’s working on it. She’s making up for lost time, and will make a very loyal and loving companion to the special adopter who’s willing to put in the effort to help her feel safe in the world. Might that be you?
