Story
Meet Opal, a young female Boxer with a heart as big as her journey! Opal's story began on the streets of Tijuana, where a heartbreaking picture of her Emaciated and covered in ticks found its way to us. Homeless and struggling, we knew we had to bring her to safety. Once here, we immediately took her to the vet for bloodwork and a 4DX test to check for any tick-borne diseases. Everything came back negative, and her blood work is perfectly normal! We were thrilled! Fast forward a couple months, Opal was on medical status as we worked on slowly gaining weight and building her strength. During her Spay appt, she almost died on the table and it was found that she did in fact contract 2 Tickborne Diseases! She had contracted Erlichia and Anaplasmosis. We cured the tickborne diseases and her blood platelets were damaged. So she has been battling Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia, going every two weeks for routine blood draws and medicine. During the vet visits, we also discovered that Opal is deaf, but that doesn't stop her from being the sweetest, most affectionate dog. She adores being with her humans and thinks she's a lap dog-she'll cuddle up with you any chance she gets! Opal is looking for a loving home where her new family will enjoy her goofy loving personality! If you're ready to be part of Opal's journey and give her the second chance she deserves, please complete our adoption application, and we'll be in touch soon. Let's give this sweet girl the happy ending she's been waiting for!

Story
Marty is the ultimate snuggle bug who loves being close to his humans, keeping them warm with his cuddles and adorable snores. He has a gentle and affectionate nature, making him a perfect companion for lazy mornings and cozy evenings. While his siblings thrive on chaos, Marty prefers a good toy and a comfy spot on the couch, proving he’s well on his way to becoming the best couch potato. He may be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, his fun-loving, goofy side shines through. A true social butterfly, Marty has lived with kids, dogs of all sizes, and even cats—getting along wonderfully with everyone he meets. He’s playful yet relaxed, making him the perfect balance of energy and calm. Marty is also a water-loving pup, often turning his water breaks into splash sessions. With his sweet, affectionate personality and easygoing charm, it’s no surprise he’s a staff favorite!

Story
Mama is a sweet, gentle Boxer mix—well, that’s our best guess, considering her mysterious past. She was found with her puppies in tow, probably wondering how she ended up with such a rambunctious bunch. Now that they're all fixed, chipped, and ready for their forever homes, Mama can finally focus on her favorite pastime: wrestling with her pups and showing them how to be top-notch dogs. She's been an excellent role model, though we're pretty sure she secretly dreams of a couch and a TV remote. If you’d like to give this hardworking mom the forever home she deserves, just request an application!

Meet and greets will only be arranged after we receive a completed and signed application. Please note that we do not follow a first-come, first-served policy. Instead, we thoroughly evaluate each application to ensure the best possible fit for the pet, considering breed characteristics and the lifestyle of the potential adopter. Breed descriptions are our best estimates since we do not know the lineage of both parents. At One Mutt at a Time, we use our experience and consult with our vet to make educated guesses about possible breed mixes. However, we cannot guarantee specific breed combinations unless we have information on both parents. This is a mixed breed dog of unknown origin unless stated otherwise.
