Maximus is a very calm and quiet dog. He loves company and he loves having bath. He'll let you know when he needs to go the bathroom. He listens and follows commands like - sit, show me a good boy (and he'll sit down), let's go (and he'll head out to the door), wipe your feety ( and he'll step on the door mat and sit), wait, move back, go in the shower, come here, high five (and he'll give his paw), go to your bed, etc. He loves being petted. He's playful and loves to run around in an empty park.

I am a small and friendly Boxer-Pit mix in need of a foster or forever home. I was saved from a California shelter, and weigh about 51 lbs. I do well with my doggy neighbors at my current location, and have been a model citizen. I would love human companionship, since I welcome human attention and affection, and would love to go for walks, hikes or other outings. Can you open your home and heart to me? Meet Saffron!-1 1/2 year old boxer mix-Came into the Shelter as a stray so we do not know about her life before the Shelter -Staff have observed that she is a little shy but is receptive to soft pets and attention-Seems to get a confidence boost from being around other dogs. A resident canine in the home will likely help her in her next spot-No history with children or cats-Still perfecting life skills like potty training and leash walkingPlease note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM BENJI! Benji is an almost 4-year-old Boxer-Pit mix in need of a forever home. He's currently in a foster home. Benji has had a rough go of it in his short life - he was rescued from a crowded California shelter, and later was attacked by another male dog at a boarding kennel. He is almost healed from his attack though looks a little rough around the edges during the healing process. Benji is very much a couch potato dog in that he loves to lounge on the sofa or sleep on your bed. He's a huge snuggler! He has done fine around other dogs, but given his recent trauma we think he may be best as the only dog where he can get all of the deserved love and attention. He's very affectionate, and loves belly rubs. Benji is also an active, strong boy so he needs a strong owner, and someone who can take him for walks, hikes and other outings. A big, fenced yard would be a plus, but is not a necessity. He does have a prey drive for squirrels and bunnies, so probably would do best in a home without cats. Overall he's a mellow, easygoing boy. He weighs about 60 lbs. Please email for an application.
