Story
Ivy is a Courtesy Post Only and is not a Second Chance Dog Rescue dog. SCDR is not responsible for any ownership, behavior, health, and representations made by the owner with respect to this dog. You must contact her adoption coordinator Ana at Ana@thriveanimalrescue.com for further information.  Ivy is a sweet, silly, cuddly, and affectionate girl - as of September 2024, she has been with us waiting for her forever family for over 456 days which is mind-blowing to staff at Thrive because of how great of a dog she is. Let's prioritize giving this lovebug a much deserved home for her to call her own!! Personality : She is a medium to high energy dog who loves to play - she enjoys mental and physical stimulation such as going for hikes or long walks/runs. She loves playing with other dogs and her people friends, but then she’s happy to relax and sunbathe in the yard after to decompress. Her favorite move is to flop on her back and show you her belly to ask for rubs :) Her Boxer zoomies will make you laugh! Training : Ivy has been going to doggie day care multiple times per week to hang out with all of her dog friends and has been doing great!! Despite her roughhousing playstyle with other large dogs, she is extremely gentle with puppies. She walks nicely on a leash and knows basic commands.  Ivy is on a special low-fat diet and we recommend that adopters keep her on this upon adoption to ensure she’s in tip-top health. The perfect forever family : She would do great in an active household with a young couple who loves to hike or go on adventures, and is good with kids 13+. She would likely love another active doggie friend. Ivy is available for a long-term committed foster or forever family. For further information or to meet Ivy, please contact Ana, Adoption Coordinator at Ana@thriveanimalrescue.com.  December 10, 2024, 4:48 pm

Story
Attention Active Dog Lovers, Boxer and Ridgeback Enthusiasts! Meet Groot! Current Location: Rockdale, TX Hey there! I’m Groot, a 3-year-old Boxer/Ridgeback blend with a heart of gold and a comedic personality. From California to Texas, my journey has brought me to a sunny sanctuary in Texas where I've been living my best life, running free and making friends. But now, I’m on the lookout for a forever home. Although I'm currently in Texas, I'm ready to take my comedy on the road for the right family! What Makes Me Special I’m Affectionate: my cuddles are the cure for any bad day. I’m Adventurous: Whether it’s a game of fetch or a jog in the park, I’m always ready to move! I’m Friendly: Other dogs? Bring them on! My heart's big enough for everyone. I’m Funny: Need a laugh? My playful nature and silly antics will keep you entertained. I’m Smart: I’m house-trained and eager to learn—I’ve got the brains and the brawn. I’m Curious: The world is my playground, and I’m excited to explore it with you. Check out my Bucket List Hiking: I've heard about these amazing trails, and I can't wait to explore them! Beach Day: Splashing in the water and playing fetch on the sandy shores sounds like a blast. Dog Parks: I've heard dog parks are the best places to make new friends and show off my playful side. Jogging: Count me in—I'm ready to let my athleticism shine. Camping: I can't wait to go camping and explore the great outdoors. My curiosity and love for adventure make me the perfect camping buddy. Furever Home: Last but not least… I’m ready for a family with kids over 14, as my energy might be too much for the little ones. Adopt me and I’ll fill your home with laughter, love, and a whole lot of tail wags. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet Mistletoe!!! Mistletoe was found abandoned in a local park.  She was very ill and emaciated (see her last two pictures). Lucky for her it was in Long Beach as the shelter staff immediately rushed her to an emergency vet to get her stabilized.  No one is sure what the underlying cause of Mistletoe’s illness was, but they suspect some type of toxicity poisoning.  Once Mistletoe was stabilized, we rescued her and moved her to our vet for further treatment to assist in her recovery.  Mistletoe is charming all the vet staff and is now ready to start interviewing a foster or better yet forever family.  Mistletoe is a white boxer about a year old according to our vet (the shelter thought 6 months but she was in very rough shape when found). Mistletoe is underweight and will need to gain weight in a healthy controlled manner.  We suspect she’ll fill out to be 50-60 pounds. Mistletoe is sweet as can be and gets along fine with people and other dogs (cats are unknown).  Mistletoe is your usual young goofy Boxer who enjoys rocking sweaters in the winter.  Like most young dogs she will likely need some leash training.  But Mistletoe is eager to please and wants to be your best girl.  Mistletoe would love to find a real family this time around who will love and care for her.  If that family sounds like yours, email dogs@labradorsandfriends.org or fill out our online application at www.labradorsandfriends.org Mistletoe is located in Southern California.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 29, 2025, 8:14 pm

Story
Enzo is a tender, affectionate and friendly boy but also shy. Calm and submissive temperament. He gets along perfectly with other dogs, cats and even children of all ages. Enzo is a low-activity dog who prefers to spend his time sleeping or just lying down. It is the ideal companion to spend long moments of peace. It is not noisy; He barks little and does not howl. He may be shy at first but once he gains confidence you will meet a very sweet dog who will follow you everywhere. He loves eating treats, taking naps in the sun, taking quiet walks, and cuddling with each other. It is not destructive or bite things. You can put clothes on him or leave him with a harness without problem. He knows how to sit, wait for his food and walk on a leash. He has experience living with other dogs of different ages and sizes, both females and males, and with cats. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash. Story
Meet Abby! This beautiful 7-month-old, 28-pound princess is truly the most adorable and cute little girl you'll ever meet. She is a little survivor of 12, her mom was abandoned and at one day old, Abby and her 11 siblings were left in a box in the middle of nowhere with no shade. When we came for them after receiving a report from a neighbor of the owner, there were only 5 babies left alive, and we found the rest already dead inside a plastic bag with a knot in it. Abby grew up happy with her litter, they are very active and loving little ones. She is learning to walk on her leash, lives well with dogs and cats and is the most chubby of her litter. She is the smiliest and is very intelligent. It would be ideal for her to grow up in a home with children, she likes walks and although she is a little shy at first, she usually comes out of her shell quickly. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date.
