Story
Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, March 8th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700   Toby is a 6 month old Boxer x Beagle mix who’s ready to rock and roll his way into your heart! Toby was found wandering the streets of San Jose by good samaritans who did their best to find his former home. When that wasn’t possible, they got him seen by a vet and are now hoping to find him a new landing place where he can grow and thrive. Toby currently weighs around 35 pounds and will probably max out around 50 pounds. If you’re ready for adventure with a canine best friend, come and meet Toby!      Toby is a happy and loving puppy ready to make the world his own! He loves to play with his humans, his toys, and his canine foster brother. He adores his humans and loves knowing where everyone is. He is the perfect mix of active and laid back, especially for a large-breed puppy. According to his foster mom, he is 50% playful and 50% loungey. He loves his long walks though and would be an amazing addition to an active home looking to explore the outdoors. We could see Toby thriving in a variety of homes, as long as there is plenty of love in store for him! He loves having a playful companion but he could also thrive solo! He’s just ready to be your happy and faithful companion. He is also super smart as well as food motivated and has picked up tons of tricks in the time he has been with his foster people. You won’t find a better more amazing companion than Mr. Toby!  Toby wakes up at 7 AM and heads outside to stretch and go potty. He gets lots of pets and hugs before he relaxes as his humans start their day. He has breakfast at 8 AM inside of his crate and then spends some time playing with his toys and relaxing. He goes on a walk around 11 AM before returning home for an afternoon of napping and playing with his toys. At 4 PM he practices some of his tricks before he goes on another walk, followed by some playtime at the park. He has dinner at 7 PM and then plays with his toys. He winds down around 9 PM and heads to bed after one last potty break.  Toby currently lives with a large dog and they get along very well. He loves humans of all ages as long as they will play with him! Toby walks well on the leash and loves his strolls. He is house trained. If you’re ready to find your new pal, come on down and meet Toby!      Toby is an option for homes with prior dog owning experience. Kids should be over the age of 5.March 9, 2025, 6:32 pm

Story
This is Lupe, who looks more like a tiger than a wolf! She has the most beautiful markings and is a very sweet girl. She’s pretty shy of humans at first, but absolutely adores other dogs, especially males. We are not sure of her history, but she definitely has had some puppies, so may have been bred for her looks, while not getting much human attention herself. That’s about to change for the better for Lupe! When playing with other dogs, she really opens up and starts to get comfortable, not just with the dogs, but also with the human friends around. Lupe doesn’t have much experience walking on a leash yet, but she’s working on it. She’s making up for lost time, and will make a very loyal and loving companion to the special adopter who’s willing to put in the effort to help her feel safe in the world. Might that be you? She’s waiting for you to help her make her new start.

Story
Meet Kleo, a beautiful boxer mix with a spirit to match. This girl is high-energy and fun – she loves to engage with and get attention from her human friends. Kleo also loves to get zoomies, both on and off the leash. Plus fetch is her game – she can’t get enough. Add to that the fact that Kleo loves to play with other dogs her own size, and you have the makings of a fantastic companion. Kleo may have a bit of a prey drive for smaller animals, so she will only want to play with evenly matched dogs. But that shouldn’t be too hard to find, with her enthusiasm and zest for life. She appears to be housetrained and is ready to meet you today!

Story
Hi guys, I'm Dino! But you can call me Dino-mite, Dino-saur or Dino-nugget! I am a neutered, 5-year-old, Staffordshire terrier mix that weighs in at a whopping 76lbs! I'm always the life of the party! I'm an energetic, outgoing fella that loves to be outside. All of my friends tell me how handsome I am! I am a boisterous boy who loves to run, jump and play. I've been working on my manners and impulse control, but still have some work left to do. I'm hoping for a bully-savvy family that is prepared to continue my training. I'm a boundary tester, but I love treats and can't wait to learn! I've been a rockstar at Nose Work and can sniff out all the goodies like a pro! I love being around people and already know sit, place, touch, and find it! I'm a food motivated boy that's eager to please! If you are looking for silly puppy hijinks in a much bigger package, then I'm your boy! Just ask Customer Service about Dino! ID# A939842 I recently went on a walk with one of my PHS Volunteer friends! Here's how I did: He was very well behaved. I took a different route than normal which he appeared to enjoy quite a bit. I think it was a nice change of scenery for him. He really enjoyed sniffing and rolling around on wet grass. He had a big smile on his face which made my morning.Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
FOSTER CARE! Hey there, are you looking for a Denny's 'Grand Slam'? Well, here I am I'm Denny and I'm a 1-year-old, neutered, pit bull mix that weighs about 75lbs. I'm a curious and playful young dog, and if you have snacks, I'll find them! I'm a sweet boy and take my treats very nicely if a bit slobbery. I'm an active, energetic boy looking for a new walking and adventure buddy. Don't forget the snuggles! I love to sit next to or on top of my favorite person. I'm an exuberant player and would do best with similarly matched resident dogs. My friends at PHS have been helping me with my manners! I've been working on my manners in a shelter training class, and I'm doing great! I have an excellent 'sit,' 'down,' and 'touch,' and I'm comfortable enough with a crate that my handler can put me inside and leave the room for a few moments. I'm showing lots of progress with 'leave it' and 'stay,' too. I look forward to continuing my training with my adopters! If I sound like the perfect addition to the family, please bring the whole household, including any resident dogs, to meet me! Denny! ID# A953402 My foster parent says I'm doing great! Here's an update on how I'm doing: Denny is doing fantastic. He is a love bug and super easy to handle. Loves our walks in the forest and beaches. Curious and adventurous.   Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by following these instructions: Please submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. You must be 18 or older to submit a profile. When you email your adoption profile, please include a few sentences about why you're interested in adopting me specifically and why you think I'd be a good fit for your family! Please also tell us a little bit about your dog experience, if any. We look forward to hearing from you!  Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. Story
Hello! My name is Toby and I'm a neutered, 7-year-old, Pit Bull mix that currently weighs about 63lbs. I'm a big softy that absolutely LOVES people. I really enjoy meeting new people and playing a bit with my volunteer friends. I may be a big guy but I'm a gentle giant, who sits politely for leashing and literally sits and waits at the door for you. Once I'm outside I walk loosely on leash. I enjoy nothing more than relaxing on the couch watching some good reality TV, after all who doesn't love some exciting drama! I'm a bit of a ladies' man so if you have a nice female dog at home, I would be a great match. I would love to meet the whole household before going home including any resident dogs, so come on by and say hi! Toby ID# A909119 I recently went of a field trip with one of my PHS volunteer friends! Here's how I did: I took Toby for a one-hour off-site trip today. He jumped right into the back of my car as soon as I opened the door. We went to Washington Park in Burlingame and walked around a few times. Toby was pulling most of the time, trying to chase after the squirrels and birds he saw. There were a few dogs and plenty of people at the park, but Toby was non-reactive to the people and very interested in getting closer to the dogs.   Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by.
