Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. The tale of Robby, a 10-year-old Boxer Mix, is a heart-wrenching illustration of how a dog can be considered homeless despite technically having an owner. For a decade, Robby endured a life of neglect, living in a dilapidated dog house barely fit for a rat, positioned just outside the home of his owner. Stripped of the basic necessities of care and nourishment, he had no choice but to resort to scavenging for food, begging passersby for scraps and water, all while defending himself from the other street dogs that roamed freely. This life of hardship took its toll on his health, leaving him riddled with infections and suffering from painful rotten and broken teeth due to his desperate attempts to eat whatever he could find. Fortunately, a glimmer of hope arose when concerned individuals turned to me for assistance. I understood that Robby’s situation was a call for compassion that could not be ignored. Upon his rescue, it became clear just how much love and care Robby had been deprived of over the years. With proper veterinary care and rehabilitation, this gentle soul began to regain his health, blossoming into a vibrant and affectionate companion. Robby’s journey is of survival and resilience!! When kindness finally entered his life after years of starvation and loneliness his soul came to life. However, the scars of his past linger on. Although Robby is now a sweet dog who adores human company, the years of ill treatment have left him with food and treat aggression. These behaviors are not indicative of his character but rather a reflection of his survival instincts honed in an unforgiving environment. We continue to help Robby by overcoming his feeling of being food deprived with training and he's doing so much better. We are committed to Robby!!! It’s believed that the best path for Robby is to live as an only dog, allowing him to bask in the one thing he has longed for throughout his tumultuous life—human kindness and love. Robby's story is not just a reminder of the plight of many animals; it serves as a call to action for compassion and understanding, driving us to provide every creature the loving home they deserve. I added Robby’s before pictures on his post so you can see what his life was like and to show how resilient a beautiful soul could be. Robby deserves to live the rest of his life in peace, comfort and with a lot of love which he thrives on. If you live in San Diego County, have a home with a secured yard and would love a wonderful companion dog then please complete our adoption application at tlck9rescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 9:16 pm

Story
Hi, this is Sebastian he is a full breed boxer and he is 2 years old. He’s very social and loves attention and hugs. He has grown up around his 2 other brothers from same litter but unfortunately due to moving I cannot keep him. He’s very friendly and loves to run and play catch. He loves making friends at the dog park. He has a great personality and we are so sad to have to see him go. He need’s special attention to his diet because he’s allergic to chicken and eats a salmon & rice blend dog food. Also he has sensitive skin due to these food allergies. He’s the smallest out of all his brothers I’d say he weighs low 60’s lbs! He is microchipped and he is fixed. With up to date shots!

Story
Meet Joe! Joe entered Baldwin Park Shelter as a stray. When he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up on December 16, 2023 to become a Frosted Face. Joe is 8 years old and weighs 52 lbs. He is a sweet boy who enjoys attention from our volunteers and staff. Joe loves going on our weekly FFF hikes, and volunteers report he walks nicely on leash and is a fun companion on the trails. He easily walks 2-3 miles and has great manners and no reaction or barking when he encounters other dogs and horses! Joe went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what he is like in a home. His Fling Family reported that Joe... - Was very affectionate and loving - Would get excited to see them when they returned home - Loved going on walks around their neighborhood - Loved being petted and cuddled - Had a great appetite Joe went on a second Fling and again showed what a good boy he is! He went to the beach and to the office with his Fling Mom. He was very quiet during a meeting and laid her co-worker's feet! As you can see in the video, when Joe was at home, he had lots of fun playing with his toy! As much as Joe loves people, he is not well socialized with dogs and is eligible for our Molly & Me Project paid foster program. The Molly & Me Project is for senior dogs left behind by their owners that are poorly socialized with other animals, but they are incredibly loyal companions to humans and likely have been for many years. M&MP dogs are difficult to place and often find themselves in long term isolated kennel boarding or facing euthanasia. The Molly & Me Project was implemented to recruit people that have no other animals who can carry out our mission of family to love dogs like Molly who need to be an only pet long term. Requirements: - No other animals of any kind in the household - Submit weekly photos - Live an enriching life and include the Frosted Face - Demonstrate ability to avoid scenarios of negligence that would put the Frosted Face or other animals at risk Incentives - $200.00/month for a term of 12 months - We pay for veterinary expenses - Receive donated food and supplies If you are looking for a wonderful buddy, and you don't have other pets in your home, please consider fostering or adopting Joe!

Story
*Hospice Family Needed* Meet Ali! Ali arrived at Coachella Valley Shelter as a stray and was not claimed. When we scooped him to become a Frosted Face on November 13th, he was very skinny. We hoped it was just the stress of being a shelter, but unfortunately, we soon learned there was an underlying cause Ali has lung cancer, but he doesn't know he's sick! He has been on multiple hikes each week ranging from 2-4 miles, volunteers have taken him to Julian, nearby parks, and just the other day was treated to a trip to Kahoots Feed & Pet for some snacks. Ali is a such love bug, and he is affectionate immediately upon meeting someone. He loves to have our arms wrapped around him, and even hops up onto our laps! Ali is also friendly with other dogs. He has been treated to some sleepovers with the founders of FFF and has done great with their dogs! Ali is still full of laughs and fun, but a time will come when he will need extra TLC. We want him to experience having a family and living in the comfort of a home again. Drop by between 10:00 and 3:00 pm to meet Ali, or please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org to schedule an appointment.

Story
How Jolly Giant arrived: Jolly Giant was brought in by a community member on 4/28/24. Why Jolly Giant is the one for you:Say hi to Jolly Giant, the sweetest pup you'll ever lay eyes on! He's currently living the good life in a foster home. Here is what the foster says about him: "JG is a wonderfully easy-going dog. He is quiet and very calm around people and our other dog. Even with his hearing loss, he is quickly learning house rules and routines. He knows hand signs for "come" and "sit" and is learning "move" and "stay". Treats are a great tool for teaching him. He also loves walks and pets on his neck and chest but so far he is not very interested in toys. He will use a doggie door to take himself outside but will also request to go out. He does not go up stairs but he will get up on a low couch for his afternoon nap." At SDHS:Jolly Giant is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Jolly Giant is now ready for his new home!Email for details:Jolly Giant is available for adoption in a foster home. To adopt him, please email us at escadoptions@sdhumane.org.
