Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. The tale of Robby, a 10-year-old Boxer Mix, is a heart-wrenching illustration of how a dog can be considered homeless despite technically having an owner. For a decade, Robby endured a life of neglect, living in a dilapidated dog house barely fit for a rat, positioned just outside the home of his owner. Stripped of the basic necessities of care and nourishment, he had no choice but to resort to scavenging for food, begging passersby for scraps and water, all while defending himself from the other street dogs that roamed freely. This life of hardship took its toll on his health, leaving him riddled with infections and suffering from painful rotten and broken teeth due to his desperate attempts to eat whatever he could find. Fortunately, a glimmer of hope arose when concerned individuals turned to me for assistance. I understood that Robby’s situation was a call for compassion that could not be ignored. Upon his rescue, it became clear just how much love and care Robby had been deprived of over the years. With proper veterinary care and rehabilitation, this gentle soul began to regain his health, blossoming into a vibrant and affectionate companion. Robby’s journey is of survival and resilience!! When kindness finally entered his life after years of starvation and loneliness his soul came to life. However, the scars of his past linger on. Although Robby is now a sweet dog who adores human company, the years of ill treatment have left him with food and treat aggression. These behaviors are not indicative of his character but rather a reflection of his survival instincts honed in an unforgiving environment. We continue to help Robby by overcoming his feeling of being food deprived with training and he's doing so much better. We are committed to Robby!!! It’s believed that the best path for Robby is to live as an only dog, allowing him to bask in the one thing he has longed for throughout his tumultuous life—human kindness and love. Robby's story is not just a reminder of the plight of many animals; it serves as a call to action for compassion and understanding, driving us to provide every creature the loving home they deserve. I added Robby’s before pictures on his post so you can see what his life was like and to show how resilient a beautiful soul could be. Robby deserves to live the rest of his life in peace, comfort and with a lot of love which he thrives on. Story
11-year-old Shorty ended up at Coachella Valley Animal Shelter after his dad passed away. Soon after, we welcomed him as a Frosted Face. Weighing 55 lbs., Shorty is an all-around wonderful dog who would be a great fit for many types of families, as he is gentle with children and good with other dogs. Whether you're looking for a walking buddy, a binge-watching cuddle partner, low-key companion, or all of the above, this boy fits the bill! Shorty has been on two 2-week Frosted Flings and currently lives in a Foster home. He has earned rave reviews from all! Here is what they reported: 💛 Sweet, gentle, and affectionate: Shorty loves being near his people, happily soaking up cuddles and belly rubs — but he’s not clingy. He’s content to nap nearby or even snooze in another room. 🏡 A+ house manners: He’s potty trained, non-destructive, and calm One family even gave him free roam of the house with their dog while they were out — and the boys just napped. 😴 Sleep champion: Shorty slept in bed every night during his first Fling and never woke his humans once. Not an early riser, either! 🐾 Great with kids: he was wonderfully gentle with a family’s 4-year-old daughter and never touched her toys or stuffed animals. 🐶 Dog-friendly: Shorty is non-reactive on walks and plays well with other dogs. He’d thrive with a friendly dog buddy — but he’d also be perfectly happy as an only dog. 🚗 Excellent traveler: A dream in the car, Shorty hops in and out easily and usually just curls up and sleeps. 🦮 Easy walker: He’s great on leash and easy to handle. He enjoys longer walks but is content with a shorter stroll around the neighborhood. 🍖 Food-motivated & polite: He has a great appetite : and takes treats very gently. 🎾 Playful when the mood strikes: Shorty loves fetch, tug-of-war, and random bursts of zoomies joy, but he’s also a big fan of sunbathing and lounging. 🛋️ Adaptable: He does fine with stairs, hard floors, new environments — you name it. Just a roll-with-the-flow kind of guy. Shorty dreams of a forever family. Might that be you? To meet Shorty, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
