Story
Hi, I'm Shaymus aka Shay. I'm a ladies man, and would prefer a lady-only home where I can be the Man of the House. I am a happy-go-lucky guy that enjoys a good ball and scritches. I have alot of energy and am a big ol' goof ball. I love car rides, and I make it my job to protect my ride. I'm a one-eyed wonder that secretly moonlights as a pirate... I steal covers and kisses. I've also been known to run off with a ball or twelve... but I'll come show you my loot with gusto. The BasicsAge: 7 yrsWeight: 27 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesMicrochipped: YesVaccines Up-to-Date: YesOn Heartworm Prevention: YesOn Flea/Tick Prevention: YesHouse-trained: Yes, once I've learned the house rulesCrate-trained: YesLeash Skills: GoodLikes/DislikesToys: Loves anything and everythingOther Animals: Preferred only petPeople/Kids: Prefers women, not suited for a home with small kidsCar rides: LovesSeparation: No issuesContact/Application InformationQuestions? Contact Kelli at 803-646-2593 or yndinglane@aol.comCurrent Location: Aiken, SC (must travel/pickup here)Adoption fee: $340Ready to apply? Visit www.bostonterriertn.org ##1558637##

Story
Meet Sam Sam, a super smart splash Boston Terrier. Sam is mostly blind but has crazy good hearing and gets around on his own very well. He adapts quickly to new surroundings. He is a very affectionate boy and loves to give his people kisses. Sam gets along with other dogs, but wouldn't mind being an only dog. He would enjoy a home with a fenced in yard so he can roam (with supervision). He loves chewing bones, playing tug-of-war, and snuggling up next to his humans, especially with his head under a blanket. Sam gets uncomfortable and can be reactive when putting on his collar (harness preferred) or going to the vet, but a little prep (e.g., trazadone & gabapentin 2 hrs before) can help calm him. He's quite the character overall. If you let him sleep in the bed, you may wake up to find him flat on his back with all 4 legs in the air. This boy sure knows how to make himself comfortable.  The BasicsAge: 5 yearsWeight: 24 lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesMicrochipped: YesVaccines Up-to-Date: YesOn Heartworm Prevention: YesOn Flea/Tick Prevention: YesHouse-Trained: YesCrate-Trained: YesLeash Skills: NoneMedical: Sam is mostly blind due to cataracts and previous corneal ulcers that left him with scarring, per his vet. He’s able to sense some shadow movements on his right side, but not in the dark. We did consult with a vet opthomologist - he's not a candidate for cataract surgery in his left eye, and even with surgery in his right eye, his vision would still be limited to far-sighted. Likes/DislikesToys: Likes buffalo horns, squeaky toys (with supervision), and playing tug of war.Other Animals: Gets along with dogs and cats.People/Kids: Loves adults. Not tested with children. Must have an adult-only home.Car Rides: Tolerates short car ridesSeparation: He does not like to be left alone and will let you know vocally as you leave the house. He's left out in his foster home and is not destructive. He settles down eventually and is usually sleeping when you come back home.  Contact/Application InfoQuestions? Story
Famous Amos is looking for a special woman-only home to call his own. Amos has lived in many places and has met several new faces in his lifetime. He is very friendly and can be very cuddly with his people, but is somewhat picky about the company he keeps. We don’t know his full story, so it’s hard to say why he feels less at ease with some people more than others. If he likes you, he absolutely adores you. We know it may take some time, but we’re hopeful his person is out there just waiting to find him!  We think if Amos could talk, he’d say he’d like a fenced yard to explore or an uncrowded walking route – one where he wouldn’t have to interact with strangers passing close by, and a safe home space without much commotion or change. He would likely thrive most in a single lady's home with no other pets, but all experienced applicants will be considered so don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re interested. Amos is currently at a boarding/training facility in Aiken, SC, so you and any dog(s) in your home would have to go there to meet him. While he's been there, he’s been a friend to all. His forever family must reside in South Carolina or a surrounding state. Story
Cookie Bear is a quirky little dog with lots of love and energy to spare. Cookie is the perfect blend of mixed breed. She is dark brindle, almost black with a pigmented tongue. She has long legs and a long whip like tail, which always lets you know when she’s happy, but can hurt if she accidentally hits you with it during a shake. She is a lanky 27 pounds and has the bark of a big dog. She’s very chatty and will howl along if you sing to her, plus she does excited barking when going outside, playing, or getting a treat.  She loves playing with (destroying) soft toys and playing fetch. She has a few chew bones and squeaky bones that she enjoys as well. Cookie is smart and loves to learn new things. She has mastered get back, sit, lay down, stay, come, speak, and quiet. She will work hard for a treat but really loves praise. When getting pets, she stomps her back legs in joy, lifting them so high and stomping so hard. (Much like Nala stomps for those who are familiar.) She is a total cuddle bug and loves to roll around on the blankets.  Cookie gets along great with cats in her foster home, but is dog reactive. She may be able to get along well with a well adjusted dog sibling after a slow introduction period, but would prefer to be the only dog. She would be fine with older children who are dog smart. She can be protective of her foster mom (her person) and has some resource guarding tendencies as well.   The Basics Age: 7-8 Weight: 27 pounds Spayed/Neutered: Yes Microchipped: Yes Vaccines Up-to-Date: Yes On Heartworm Prevention: Yes On Flea/Tick Prevention: Yes House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes, good for a few hours at a time  Leash Skills: Great. Loves walks and can go for miles.  Medical: Cookie had a golf ball sized mast cell tumor removed from her right rear leg. This was found to be low grade. The surgery is considered curative. She just needs to be  monitored for possible reoccurrence.  Likes/Dislikes Toys: Loves!  Will tear up soft toys, loves chew bones and playing fetch. Understands “go get your bone!” Other Animals: Likes cats, dog reactive (see above)  People/Kids: Loves people, barks at first but happy once she gets acknowledged  Car Rides: Likes the adventure, but does get anxious.  Separation: Okay in the crate for a few hours at a time. Story
Hello, my name is Quinn Meredith Patrick. I am a five year old, full blooded Female Boston Terrier. I am super sweet and a little timid. I take some time to warm up to you, but when I do, you have my heart and I like to be close to my person(s). When I’m comfortable with you, I love belly rubs and lots of snuggles, Ieven have a slight issue with personal space, I get a little scared/nervous with loud noises (I.e.thunder) and fast movements, so small children might be scary for me.  Age: 5 yrs DOB 4/4/2019Weight: 21.5 poundsSpayed/Neutered: YesMicrochipped: YesVaccines Up-to-Date: YesOn Heartworm Prevention: YesHouse-Trained: 90%Crate-Trained: yes, Leash Skills: struggling, still unsure about it, but working on itLikes/DislikesToys: unsure… haven’t really figured them out yet, but is slowly learning how to playOther Animals: gets along with other dogs; cats, unsurePeople/Kids: adults, does ok; kids, unsureCar Rides: does pretty well in the car, a little scary, but handles it wellSeparation: noneContact/Application InfoQuestions? btretky@gmail.comCurrent location: Frankfort, KYAdoption Fee: $365 includes microchip registrationReady to Apply to Adopt? Story
Coco is being fostered in PA and has some vision. Coco is a very, very sweet girl whose favorite pastime is napping. She loves being scratched just about anywhere by her human and is a very go-with-the-flow girl, being great with people of all ages. She is wonderful with other dogs and cats if they do not get right in her face. Even then, she'll just give them a sharp bark to try to get them to leave. Her high-strung, young, maltipoo foster brother is NOT her favorite at all. She is a champion sleeper and often needs to be awakened to eat her breakfast and dinner. She will not indicate a need to go outside but is very aware that outside means "potty time" and she gets right down to business. She has trimmed down quite a bit and should still lose a few pounds, but she is moving much better since losing the 7 pounds she has. She loves being outside to sniff around and to just sit and sniff. She is not a fan of leash walks and will simply sit after a couple minutes. If you are looking for a sweet, well-behaved couch potato, Coco is definitely your girl! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Winston has stubborn streak and would need a confident pet parent. Raised with a large dog, Winston sometimes feels competitive and jealous over attention. He can live with other dogs. However, it’s crucial to introduce pets carefully and supervise playtime to ensure play doesn’t escalate to aggression. His diet should be one of high-quality and scheduled feedings otherwise he will over eat. He is very treat motivated and smart. Walks fine on a leash. House broken but while adjusting to a new home, new smells, new routines, it would be important to take him out a lot and watch carefully the first few days. He is also crate trained but he hates being away from his person and will scream. He does have a high prey drive, and can’t live in a home with cats. This kiddo will also need a secured fenced area , as he will catch any vehicle he sees moving. He does love going on car rides but should be restrained while you are driving, so does get on your lap while driving. Winston has a lot of energy but walks should be short especially on hot or humid days, as it can be more difficult for them to breathe properly and they are prone to overheating. As with any Frenchie, facial folds on a daily basis . Winston came to us with a chronic ear infection. Ears should be checked regularly; current his ears are being treated. He may need his teeth cleaned soon. As far as personality, he is Hilarious and entertaining personality. Loves catching a ball, rolling around on the sofa and jumping with joy. He has been tossed around a lot in the past month, but learning adaptability skills. He came to us as an angry elf, but hoping if adopted before Christmas he can become a holly jolly boy.
