Zeus is a10 year-old Brindle Boston mix, 33 pounds of muscle, with a gentle mouth; he's a very loving guy who loves to play with dogs his size.  He's a bit energetic for smaller dogs, but played with our 10# puppy every day. Zeus would love to have a 6 foot fenced yard with room to run and play; he used to jump our 4 foot fence.  He doesn't like cats and doesn't like having his nails cut. Up to date on shots, heartworm negative, crate and house trained.  He's a great dog. Please send your phone number to learn more about Zeus. Story
Well first let’s just say that Pepper is NOT a fru-fru girl that needs to be “pretty in pink”.  This girl is a Boston Terrier/Pit mix puppy who was in a very tough and isolated shelter in West Tennessee and she was the one in a million girl that made it OUT!  She is a lover girl but boy can she keep up with the older and bigger boy dogs in the foster home.  She is a great player all day long and she is tough like a “tomboy”.  She is learning the leash, crate trained and she is working on the housebreaking.  She will forever be your girl that tries the hardest to do everything right.  She is weighing in at 27 pounds and 7 months old and will one day be a 35 pound adult beauty.  We love these Pepper ears and her strong personal determination to hang with the BIG BOYS!  She is the survivor that we saw at the top of the steps in the movie “Rocky”. She has beat some unbelievable odds Some true hurdles that only Pepper and Critter Cavalry Rescue knows about.  If you want to be her Champion Adopter please write to us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com We are happy to show you what a special girl she is. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 12, 2025, 8:03 am

Story
Meet Lenny. Lenny was surrendered when he was being bullied by another bigger, rambunctious dog in the home and he lashed out and accidently bit a young child's hand as he was running pass by. The other dog has created anxiety in poor Lenny and he startles very easily now. He would do best in a quieter home with low foot traffic. A home by himself or with an older dog that will not jump all over him or get in his face should be fine. Lenny has lived with 2 cats in the past as well and just ignores them. Once he warms up to you, Lenny will come to you for petting. He will need time to gain confidence and bond with his new owner. Overall, Lenny is a sweet boy just looking for the right home for him to come out of his shell and blossom. Lenny is about 5 years old and just 29 pounds. Please help Lenny find the loving home he deserves. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Story
Hello everyone. This is my dog, Wunna. Wunna is four years old. He is such a good boy and very playful. He loves walks, food and fun toys. I trained him very well due to my very heavy work schedule. He is able to hold himself for 12 hours. He is probably the most playful/lazy dog ever. I am giving Wunna up for adoption because my job Is becoming even more busier than it was when I first got him. Wunna deserves an attentive home and owner. Unfortunately, I cannot do this for him anymore. I have moved into a dangerous city and I have to walk him late at night when I get home from work, which is very terrifying for me. This is all I can afford so if the option was to move, I definitely would’ve did that to keep him in my life. He was my emotional support animal during Covid and we have gained such a strong connection. This is very sad for me, but I know it’s for the greater good and he deserves a better home.

Story
Meet MJ! He is a 9yr old beagle/terrier mix. He was found as a stray in KY and ended up in a kill shelter...until we rescued him. He seems to get along with every other dog we have (incl puppies of all ages). He walks well on a leash once he gets over the excitement of being out with you. At only about 40 lbs, he is the perfect sized companion dog. MJ is very smart too and learned to sit for a treat & give his paw within 5mins. His aim is to please :) We find that he doesn't like to be without people in general but that's not to say that he likes all people and is definately picky about who he trusts. The ideal home would have someone around rather than leaving him for the workday and would have some dog training knowledge about how to handle a fear aggressive dog. We can no longer bring him to adoption events since many in the general public do not know how to read a dog's body language (he does give signs when he's uncomfortable). We would recommend a low-traffic household for sure because of the potential fear aggressive bite and someone with experience in dealing with this behavior. Our adoption fee is $325 and all of our pets come with full vet records.  All animals are up to date on vaccinations & dewormed.  Unless otherwise indicated, puppies are NOT spayed or neutered since our vet recommends waiting until 6mos of age to do so.  Please keep in mind we are a Rescue Group and most of our pups come to us with little or no background info regarding breed, eventual size, age or prior health issues. We rely on the expertise of our veterinarians and make estimates based on past experience. Also, when you're adopting from a Rescue, you should ask questions! You should always get shot/medication records and the rescue should have had the dog for a bit of time to check for disease. Take the time to educate yourself before adopting. A reputable rescue will have nothing to hide and will answer ALL your questions!!!Please visit our Web Site to see all of the pets we have for adoption. Our site contains information about our adoption process and fees, our application, and answers to frequently asked questions. Please read it carefully before contacting us. If you are interested in adopting THIS wonderful pet, we strongly encourage you to complete our adoption application now. Once we receive and approve your application, we will notify you of approval. The first application to be received and approved will get 1st choice - be sure that your references are available and willing to speak with us. Thank You Visit us at one of our next adoption days.  Details are on our site under the "How to Adopt" tab. Hope to see you there!October 13, 2024, 12:21 am

Story
NOTE:  If you are seeing this posting, she's still available :) Meet Trixie!  We were told she was born on 1/11/22.  Her mom looked to be a boston terrier mix. Trix is tipping the scales at 25lbs and is lean because she's always on the go given her age. Trixie is a very sweet girl, who just needs some basic training.  Her fosterhome has a fenced yard and since she has had minimal leash training, that works best at the moment.  She needs routine & some manners to be the perfect family pet.  Trix is up to date on all of her vaccines, is spayed and was tested for HW and tick borne diseases - all were neg.  She has the shiniest sleek black coat we've ever seen on a pup before!  She's very treat motivated and when it comes to taking commands, she's all ears LOL  Her friends are a group of adult dogs as well as a couple of young shepherd mixes that are double her size also with us.  Trixie's favorite game is fetch & she actually brings the ball back to you! Recent small breed experience is a must since they're just not for everyone & definitely not for the 1st time dog owner.  This girl would NOT do well in a city environment, so we're seeking a more rural home since that's all she knows.  If you have the time and patience to train a pup, please visit our site at endingthesadness.org & fill out an application to be considered.  Adopters must be no more than 2hrs driving distance from us.  Only older children in the home, please.November 20, 2024, 3:06 pm
