"Hey there, I'm Chevy. I'm a 4.5 year old male Boston Terrier. I've had a rough start, to put it kindly. I am looking for a person who will take things nice and slow for me, and take time to build a bond. My foster dad spends a lot of time with me, loving on me and teaching me that people can be kind. I love CHEESE! It's my favorite thing. I'll do pretty much anything for it. I am slowly coming out of my shell, but I'm not quite there yet. I am afraid of a lot of things. I had never been in a house prior to coming to my foster home, so it is all new to me. I will cower away from new people, and I take time to learn to trust, but once I do, I will be your little shadow. Other dogs are nice, but I prefer calm companions over rambunctious youngin's. I will play a little bit with my dog friends, but only gently and in short bursts. I love to chew on toys! I am learning the difference between what is and what isn't a toy - before my foster home, the only thing I had to play with was my food dish. I still like to chew on my dish, so my foster family picks it up when I'm done eating. When I came to my foster home I had very broken and damaged teeth from chewing on the bars of the cage I used to live in. Zoe's House Rescue made sure I got dental work done to remove my broken teeth. I also had my stenotic nares corrected at the same time. I can breathe much better now! I am neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, and have been treated with monthly parasite preventatives. I am also crate trained. I have been learning about potty training, but I forget sometimes. A belly band will be useful during my transition to my new home. I do go potty every time I am taken outside, and I never go poop in the house. Frequent potty breaks help me remember where I am supposed to pee. Even though I am a shy guy, I am hopeful that someone will give me a chance to show what a gentleman I can be. It will take some patience and a lotta love, but we will get there!" Chevy is a scared dog who will need an experienced 'dog person' who can help him learn to be his best self. He is a very gentle dog who will pancake to the ground when someone new tries to touch him. He does not become aggressive, but will try to get away from scary situations. For this reason, we are requiring a securely fenced yard for him. Chevy is being fostered in Southern Lancaster County and interested adopters must come to his foster home twice. The first visit is a meet and greet with all the members of the household including existing dogs in the home. The second visit is to take him home. He's shy at first, but not too shy to ask for a back rub or a treat.He'll show you his belly and ask you to confirm it's still soft (it is!) He also loves chest and bum scratches, and in time, head scratches. Miles prefers soft words and needs a calm environment, consistency and positive reinforcement. As his confidence grows in his new home, he'll readily wag his tail when you laugh or smile and say sweet things to him. He'll also ask you to play tug with him when the time is right. Miles is housetrained but not used to being crated. He is good boy and will be able to adapt to new or continued training. Some of his favorite snacks are frozen pure pumpkin Kongs, sweet potatoes, petite greenie dental chews, frozen nonfat plain Greek or probiotic yogurt, peanut butter, hard boiled egg whites and chicken chicken chicken. For enrichment/stimulation, he likes (beginner) puzzle feeders and snuffling! Miles loves sitting in the sun, sniffing the world, running errands and car rides with a few treats and a cozy bed in the back seat. He walks well on leash, sometimes needing a slight leash jiggle and a few whistles or clicks to redirect him during leashed walks. He does have a high prey drive, so squirrels and chipmunks take heed! Back at home, he'll help with the laundry and dishes before snuggling under blankets at your side, and napping; occasionally letting out little snores. Ella was returned to our care after her adopters suffered a medical emergency leaving them unable to care for Ella (fka Maw) and Miles (fka Paw). When they arrived back into our care, we believed them to be bonded but have quickly learned they will actually do better separated. We are seeking a foster, foster to adopt or adopter for this adorable sweetheart. Ella loves to play with toys: benebones and nylabones but especially tug of war. She loves attention and will shower her person with loads of kisses. She is the perfect combination of sweet and playful. At times she can be strong willed but she is a pretty good listener and will be able to adapt to new or continued training. Ella loves gentle affection, soft scratches, soft words, sitting in sun, walks, sniffing and running. She enjoys climbing under cozy blankets on the couch or in her bed to nap. Ella will thrive in a home with exercise/healthy stimulation. She walks well on leash, sometimes needing a slight leash jiggle and a few whistles to redirect her during a leashed walk. Meet Otis, the most adorable French bulldog and Miniature Pinscher mixed pup! Otis is 1 year and 8 months old. He is neutered, vaccinated, and ready for a forever home. His special superpower is his ability to always have his lips stuck on his teefs. Otis was surrendered to us because his humans did not have time for him. We were told that he consistently had accidents in the house and that he was alone most of the day. We could tell that he lacked obedience and did not know boundaries upon intake. His humans did love him, but they did not provide him with a routine or any mental and physical stimulation. He is now doing well with a consistent routine and learning to be a well-behaved pup. His foster mom reports that Otis has not had any accidents in the house since he came. He is a medium sized dog, but he thinks that he is a tiny pup and insists on always getting in your lap. Otis is the epitome of a Velcro dog! He is very affectionate and would love to be with you all the time. Personal boundaries do not exist in his vocab. His favorite thing in the whole world must be chest and belly rubs because he can never get enough of it. Otis will sometimes throw tantrums when he is denied attention but can easily be distracted when you throw a toy for him to chase after. Speaking of toys, Otis LOVES chewing on all the toys. Durable chew toys are a must for this boy. He can be very energetic when playing tug or zooming around the house and yard--and because of this, we think the best environment for Otis is a home without young children. And although he will happily cuddle and snooze on the couch, Otis needs daily walks so that he can exercise his body as well as his brain. Otis is used to doing whatever he wants and will try and push his boundaries to see what he can get away with. However, he is a quick learner with high value food rewards. We are making strides with crate training and leash walking. Otis needs a home with a human that he can trust and depend on. His perfect human will understand that he has been neglected and will continue to help him heal by providing him with lots of love, a consistent routine, and be persistent with his obedience training.
