Story
Zeus is a10 year-old Brindle Boston mix, 33 pounds of muscle, with a gentle mouth; he's a very loving guy who loves to play with dogs his size.  He's a bit energetic for smaller dogs, but played with our 10# puppy every day. Zeus would love to have a 6 foot fenced yard with room to run and play; he used to jump our 4 foot fence.  He doesn't like cats and doesn't like having his nails cut. Up to date on shots, heartworm negative, crate and house trained.  He's a great dog. Please send your phone number to learn more about Zeus. Story
Meet MJ! He is a 9yr old beagle/terrier mix. He was found as a stray in KY and ended up in a kill shelter...until we rescued him. He seems to get along with every other dog we have (incl puppies of all ages). He walks well on a leash once he gets over the excitement of being out with you. At only about 40 lbs, he is the perfect sized companion dog. MJ is very smart too and learned to sit for a treat & give his paw within 5mins. His aim is to please :) We find that he doesn't like to be without people in general but that's not to say that he likes all people and is definately picky about who he trusts. The ideal home would have someone around rather than leaving him for the workday and would have some dog training knowledge about how to handle a fear aggressive dog. We can no longer bring him to adoption events since many in the general public do not know how to read a dog's body language (he does give signs when he's uncomfortable). We would recommend a low-traffic household for sure because of the potential fear aggressive bite and someone with experience in dealing with this behavior. Our adoption fee is $325 and all of our pets come with full vet records.  All animals are up to date on vaccinations & dewormed.  Unless otherwise indicated, puppies are NOT spayed or neutered since our vet recommends waiting until 6mos of age to do so.  Please keep in mind we are a Rescue Group and most of our pups come to us with little or no background info regarding breed, eventual size, age or prior health issues. We rely on the expertise of our veterinarians and make estimates based on past experience. Also, when you're adopting from a Rescue, you should ask questions! You should always get shot/medication records and the rescue should have had the dog for a bit of time to check for disease. Take the time to educate yourself before adopting. A reputable rescue will have nothing to hide and will answer ALL your questions!!!Please visit our Web Site to see all of the pets we have for adoption. Our site contains information about our adoption process and fees, our application, and answers to frequently asked questions. Please read it carefully before contacting us. If you are interested in adopting THIS wonderful pet, we strongly encourage you to complete our adoption application now. Once we receive and approve your application, we will notify you of approval. The first application to be received and approved will get 1st choice - be sure that your references are available and willing to speak with us. Thank You Visit us at one of our next adoption days.  Details are on our site under the "How to Adopt" tab. Hope to see you there!June 27, 2024, 10:43 am

Story
NOTE:  If you are seeing this posting, she's still available :) Meet Trixie!  We were told she was born on 1/11/22.  Her mom looked to be a boston terrier mix. Trix is tipping the scales at 25lbs and is lean because she's always on the go given her age. Trixie is a very sweet girl, who just needs some basic training.  Her fosterhome has a fenced yard and since she has had minimal leash training, that works best at the moment.  She needs routine & some manners to be the perfect family pet.  Trix is up to date on all of her vaccines, is spayed and was tested for HW and tick borne diseases - all were neg.  She has the shiniest sleek black coat we've ever seen on a pup before!  She's very treat motivated and when it comes to taking commands, she's all ears LOL  Her friends are a group of adult dogs as well as a couple of young shepherd mixes that are double her size also with us.  Trixie's favorite game is fetch & she actually brings the ball back to you! Recent small breed experience is a must since they're just not for everyone & definitely not for the 1st time dog owner.  This girl would NOT do well in a city environment, so we're seeking a more rural home since that's all she knows.  If you have the time and patience to train a pup, please visit our site at endingthesadness.org & fill out an application to be considered.  Adopters must be no more than 2hrs driving distance from us.  Only older children in the home, please.June 27, 2024, 10:43 am

Story
weight 13 lbs age: 2 years  adoption donation: $799       Meet Batgirl! This sweet and gentle girl was found wandering alone in a rural part of Tennessee, a local family took her in and posted extensively to see if she’d been lost, but no one came looking for her.       Since then, Batgirl has won the hearts of everyone she’s met. She is smart and gentle, gets along great with the other dogs in the family and loves to snuggle. She adores car rides  and likes to eat bananas and watermelon! Batty lives with a young child and is very gentle with him. She likes to play fetch and occasionally will have the zoomies. Batty has all the wonderful Boston terrier qualities, she gives lots of kisses amd likes to sleep with her person, she especially likes to perch on the top of the pillow by your head. She lives with two cats and aside from an occasional sniff, ignores them.     The vet estimates Batgirl is about two years old. She’s heartworm negative and is up-to-date on vaccines and will be spayed shortly. Batty will be ready  to travel to the northeast the weekend of July 12. She would fit in well in almost any kind of home, she would love people around for company and another dog to play with, but she’s also fine on her own, she will snuggle on a dog bed and greet you at a very waggy tail  when you come home       Wags is a licensed 501 C3 where one woman takes care of almost 150 homeless and stray dogs many of them have expensive medical needs.. Adoption fees include transport, vaccinations, microchip, and spay or neuter.  for more information on Batgirl or any of our rescue dogs please email Mariaeftimiades@yahoo.com  July 1, 2024, 7:41 am

Story
Liza took the internet by storm for her shaking video as she was terrified in a shelter. Today she no longer shakes, but wiggles through life. She started out her foster life making friends with the foster’s cat and energetically became part of the dog fam. Liza sleeps through the night blissfully in her crate and enjoys going outside and getting her zoomies out. She is housebroken and during the day, she will ring her bells if she needs to go outside. While inside after a long day, she loves to curl up by her humans and chill. Liza is looking for a family that will give her lots attention and plenty of toys and chew treats.

Story
"Looking for someone to be your one and only? Look no further! I am your girl! I like laps and snuggling, and sitting on the porch watching the birds and squirrels. I am a calm lady, not a rowdy puppy. I am about 4-5 years old. When I came to the rescue I had a badly damaged eye from being attacked by another dog. I am extremely wary of other dogs now and I take a long time to warm up to them. I could potentially live with another dog if it is a calm companion who will not pester me. My eye needed to be removed to relieve the pain it caused me. I am feeling so much better now! I am a gentle and sweet dog who likes all people. I am very tolerant and love to be held. I let my foster mom bathe me, brush me, and trim my nails - what lady doesn't love a good spa day? My foster mom says I am a really good girl." Indigo is sweet and affectionate, and craves attention. She was surrendered to the rescue by a commercial breeder because she did not get along with the other dogs at the kennel. She is not picky about her people though, and is a very good natured dog. She has met men, women, and children and was politely happy to greet all of them. Indigo does want to be a lap dog, so someone who enjoys quality couch cuddle time is on this girl's Must Have list. She is learning to play with toys, but still isn't sure what she is supposed to do with them. Indigo walks well on a leash. She is used to a fenced yard, but could adapt to leash walking for potty breaks. While Indigo is does not have accidents in her foster home, she is still newly house broken and her adoptive family should expect to continue teaching her to go potty outside. Accidents in the house are common in dogs who have just been adopted. Indigo is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and has been treated with monthly parasite preventatives. She is being fostered in southern Lancaster county PA and prospective families must be willing to come to her foster home twice. Once to meet her with all members of the family, including resident dogs, and once more to take her home. Ready to meet Indigo? Go online to www.zoeshouserescue.com and complete an adoption application! We do not always receive applications submitted through adoptapet or petfinder.
