Story
"Hey there, I'm Chevy. I'm a 4.5 year old male Boston Terrier. I've had a rough start, to put it kindly. I am looking for a person who will take things nice and slow for me, and take time to build a bond. My foster dad spends a lot of time with me, loving on me and teaching me that people can be kind. I love CHEESE! It's my favorite thing. I'll do pretty much anything for it. I am slowly coming out of my shell, but I'm not quite there yet. I am afraid of a lot of things. I had never been in a house prior to coming to my foster home, so it is all new to me. I will cower away from new people, and I take time to learn to trust, but once I do, I will be your little shadow. I love to chew on toys! I am learning the difference between what is and what isn't a toy - before my foster home, the only thing I had to play with was my food dish. I still like to chew on my dish, so my foster family picks it up when I'm done eating. When I came to my foster home I had very broken and damaged teeth from chewing on the bars of the cage I used to live in. Zoe's House Rescue made sure I got dental work done to remove my broken teeth. I also had my stenotic nares corrected at the same time. I can breathe much better now! I am neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, and have been treated with monthly parasite preventatives. I am also crate trained. I have been learning about potty training, but I forget sometimes. A belly band will be useful during my transition to my new home. I do go potty every time I am taken outside, and I never go poop in the house. Frequent potty breaks help me remember where I am supposed to pee. Even though I am a shy guy, I am hopeful that someone will give me a chance to show what a gentleman I can be. It will take some patience and a lotta love, but we will get there!" Chevy is a scared dog who will need an experienced 'dog person' who can help him learn to be his best self. He is a very gentle dog who will pancake to the ground when someone new tries to touch him. He does not become aggressive, but will try to get away from scary situations. For this reason, we are requiring a securely fenced yard for him. Chevy is being fostered in Southern Lancaster County and interested adopters must come to his foster home twice. The first visit is a meet and greet with all the members of the household including existing dogs in the home. The second visit is to take him home. Go online to www.zoeshouserescue.com and complete an adoption application! We do not always receive applications submitted through adoptapet or petfinder. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!My name is Taylor.  I came to the ranch when I was 7 weeks old and have been here for almost 2 years.  I have a bladder problem that cannot be surgically corrected.  I could wear diapers but I absolutely hate them!!  Here at the ranch I do not have to wear a diaper because they mop and steam floors several times a day but I drip and they don't make me feel bad about it :)I may spend my life here but if I do I will be loved and accepted even though I can't hold my bladder :) I love to give kisses and recieve pets!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Meet Rosie! Rosie was found as a stray in the city of Philadelphia and brought to a local veterinary hospital by a good samaritan who saw she was very ill. They quickly determined Rosie was suffering from Parvo virus and reached out to our rescue and asked us to take her and give her a second chance at life. Parvo virus is extremely costly both financially and in terms of time required for round the clock care. Thanks to our donors, we have the means to give these dogs a fighting chance at life, and we are honored to step in and give them that chance. Rosie received the new parvo monoclonal antibody injection as well as lots of love and supportive care and now has fully recovered and is ready for a home of her own! Rosie is a 1.5 year old Boston Terrier mixed breed who is as sweet as can be! She is a young and happy puppy and will require a family up to the task of providing her the ample physical and mental exercise and training that all puppies require. If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org If you are interested in contributing to our "ACCTs Of Love fund to help buy more of the lifesaving monoclonal antibody to save Parvo puppies please donate through the following links: Venmo: angels-retreat Our website: https://checkout.shelterluv.com/donate/arpa Learn more about this program: https://www.angelsretreat.org/accts-of-love/ Rosie Quick Facts: -She is itty bitty weighing in at less than 30 pounds -She gets the zoomies when you first take her out, but quickly tires out and wants to snuggle -She is very dog friendly!
