Story
Animal Profile: Nellie is an estimated 18 month old, 55 lb spayed female mixed breed (possibly border collie and shepherd) who was found as a stray in TX and taken in by our rescue partners. She is very social, friendly, playful with dogs, and good in the crate -- but loves to be with her humans. We will share more about her as we get to know her in foster care.  Foster Update: Nellie is a loyal, loving and easy going young dog who has been a joy to foster. She has high energy when she knows it's time to play, but can also relax when it's not play time. She is wonderful in the crate and is also good on leash, rarely pulling. She is friendly and playful with other dogs once she warms up to them after slow introductions. She is good at communicating boundaries appropriately with other dogs when it comes to staying away from "her stuff." She absolutely loves being outside and will be a great hiking or running buddy! She's a hard chewer so will need durable toys. She has a cute little habit of stealing socks and hiding them in her crate; she doesn't destroy them, just likes to collect them. Her ideal family would be a couple or single person with or without another balanced dog, looking for an adventure buddy and willing to help her continue to build her confidence. Nellie has not been formally evaluated with cats or kids.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DG is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Nellie was transferred from Saving Shelter Strays in Texas arriving to Seattle area foster care on 3/8/24. She will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care. October 16, 2024, 5:17 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Tuesday is an estimated 14-week-old female mixed breed (likely Border Collie with Hound) who -- along with her sibling Ruby -- found themselves at the crowded Turlock shelter due to no fault of their own. This sweet pup is friendly with people and very social with other dogs. She will benefit from another dog in her foster home but could do OK as an only dog. We will share more about her as we get to know her in foster care.  Foster Update: Tuesday is pure sweetness! She is a gentle, sensitive soul that wants nothing more than to have her belly rubbed and be near you. She loves to run and plays fetch and tries adorably to worm her way into our resident female's heart, trying to get her to play. She is quite submissive and sensitive, but wants to be social. She has taken well to crate and potty training. She sleeps through the night and reliably uses the backyard.  The world outside our home can be a bit overwhelming, but she always looks to her person for guidance and is also curious and getting used to the big wide world. All in all Tuesday is a wonderful little sweetheart! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test and microchip with lifetime registration. Adoption fees benefit all the animals in our rescue, and may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was rescued from the the high kill Turlock animal shelter and transported via START, arriving to Seattle area foster care 9/20/24. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.October 16, 2024, 5:17 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Pepper will be arriving tomorrow 09/23/2024.  Pepper was given away to a home in Texas and sadly it was a terrible place where the boyfriend allegedly roughed her up. When Pepper came to our TX partner she was covered in fleas, emaciated, dehydrated, had a bruised belly and a cracked canine tooth.  Pepper never stayed at the shelter, our rescue partner took her straight home where she was happy to quietly recover for a few days.  She is now in a foster home playing  with resident dogs and her foster parents.  She has been exposed to and does well with cats. Pepper responds well to soft corrections, is crate trained and housebroken when taken out often. Foster Update:  Pepper was rescued from an abusive situation, but has benefited from being in foster care in Texas and now in Seattle so that she is now at a healthy weight and all healed up.  Pepper is an obedient, sweet, and playful puppy.  She is currently about 12 to 13 weeks old.  We do not know what her full size will be as an adult, but would estimate she will be between 35 and 45 lbs when she is full grown.  Pepper is curious, but respectful around cats.  She is friendly with other dogs, but prefers dogs that are gentle.  Pepper has a submissive personality so will do fine if there is a dominant dog in the household, but needs a dog that will be gentle with her as she tends to get afraid easily.  Pepper is good around children, but would do best around children 8 years old or older.  Pepper still occasionally does puppy mouthing, but is gentle when she does it and quickly stops when told "no."  Pepper still gulps her food but is learning to slow down, and is now okay with her foster mom petting her and touching her food while she is eating, though she will need some follow up training on this.   Pepper has learned her name (though would learn a new one easily due to how smart she is).  She responds well to the sit and come commands, and is treat motivated.  Pepper is learning leash skills, but still freezes with fear from loud noises and new people.  Pepper has been practicing basic obedience skills with her foster mom and is doing short Wait/Stay games as well. Pepper would excel in a puppy obedience class.  Pepper has been getting socialization practice everyday, meeting new people, friendly dogs, and going to new places each day as she has been fast building confidence and resilience.  Pepper is 100% crate trained and is quiet in her crate, and sleeps through the night without waking up.  Pepper is mostly potty trained, and prefers to go outside, but still needs frequent potty breaks during the day such as every 2 to 3 hours and after each feeding.  She would do best with a person or family who works remotely or can take her to work (Pepper currently goes into the office with her foster mom) so that she can have frequent potty breaks to finish her potty training.  Pepper is a complete cuddle bug, and will happily lay on your lap and snuggle for as long as you let her.  She will also play by herself with her toys while her foster mom is working, but does love a good play session whenever you are up to it. Pepper would love a home with a fenced yard and a canine companion would be a bonus!  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog is being transferred from  Saving Shelter Strays our partner in Texas and arriving on 09/23/2024 to the Seattle area. Story
Animal Profile: Sam is a sweet, 1-year-old, Border Collie mix that weighs 36lbs, but could use some groceries since he's a bit thin. Sam has become a shelter staff favorite; he is always a quiet, gentle greeter that is easy to walk on leash and well behaved with other dogs. He spent some time in the office, and appears to be potty trained. Sam greets visitors with a sweet smile and a gently wagging tail, and didn't show interest in any of the feline friends at the shelter. We think he will be a huge hit here in the PNW! Story
Requires: -Herding breed experienced home -Large fenced yard outside the city -Another playful dog in the home her size or larger Keira is a 2 year old, 50lb Border Collie who is looking for her perfect home. She takes a while to trust, but is loyal to her people once she does. Keira is fearful of people and does not easily trust. She can be skittish and is a flight risk if not contained properly. She will build trust with her people after a period of time spent together and trust building, but she is not a ‘people’ dog with new people. She is definitely a dog's dog. She prefers to be with her dog friends and spends her days out in a play yard with 5-7 other dogs. Keira will need a home that understands and is ok with the fact she is not a super lovey dog that will want human attention all the time. Keira will do best in an adult only home that is patient in building her trust and ok with her being aloof and doing her own thing at times. She is well mannered and does great hanging out in a fenced yard with her dog friends. She is super active and loves to run around in her current large play yard with other dogs. Keira will thrive in a home with a large fenced yard outside of the city. She is not an apartment/condo/townhome dog. Keira requires at least one other dog around her size in the home, and herding breed experience. She would thrive in a more rural setting with a large fenced yard. Keira is UTD on shots, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Ralphie! He is a 4.5-year-old, 50lb, Border Collie/Pittie mix. This boy is just a hunk of love and look at that adorable smile!. He is sweet, fun loving and a playful boy! He would love his forever home to be an active family who would take him for walks and on adventures. Ralphie will thrive in a home that can continue basic obedience with him. Ralphie can do well with other dogs, and we will want to meet the other dogs in his forever home to make sure it’s a great fit! We do not think he would do well with a dominant male, but neutral dogs 35lbs and up ok! Ralphie can be a bit of an escape artist so he will need a free-standing home with a securely fenced yard in suburban or rural neighborhood. Ralphie is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. His adoption fee is $400.
