Story
Say hello to this sweet as pie puppy, Tikka! She is a ~5 month old, ~25lb, mixed puppy. We are unsure of her mix, the shelter she came from listed her as a Border Collie, but with her black tall legs and snout, and a smokey colored body, we see some Malinois is her, she also has rear dewclaws so may have Great Pyrenees. We think her likely mix is Shepherd/Collie of some kind! Whatever she is, she is an absolutely amazing puppy and will make her forever family very happy! Tikka is currently in a foster home living with 3 other large dogs, and she has been an amazing houseguest! She has had zero accidents, and knows as soon as she goes outside, to use the restroom. She loves to play and run around, but can spend her time lounging quietly with the other dogs as well once she has had some good playtime. She does well listening to other dogs boundaries, and has learned a lot about being a good pup by following the other dogs in her foster home. Tikka loves to play with toys, get affection and pets from people, and is a very happy and sweet puppy! Tikka is smart and will be an easy girl to train. She is very treat and affection motivated, and will thrive in a home that can continue basic obedience training. She would even do well doing advanced training to keep her mentally stimulated! Tikka does well in her crate, especially with a high value treat to keep her busy, she may let out a few barks, but does well after a while and will settle down on her own and nap. She will sleep through the night in her crate with no barking if her crate is in the bedroom with her people. Tikka has met a cat in her foster home and done well, curious and barky, but in a playful and curious manner, not aggressive. We think with the right cat and proper training she could live with a cat in the home. We anticipate Tikka will receive a lot of applications, and we will not be able to get back to everyone. If your application is a good fit for Tikka, we will reach out. Tikka is not available for adoption outside of WA state. Requirements to adopt Tikka: - Another playful dog in the home for companionship - Fully fenced yard and free standing home - Active home that has like breed experience and will provide proper exercise and mental stimulation Tikka is spayed, UTD on shots and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $500.

Story
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Thorne from the Witchy litter! This litter of beautiful mutts are a mix of fun colors and even sizes. DNA has them with 21 different breeds - just WOW! Thorne was the largest in the litter and at just over 4 months old, he's about 32$, so we are guessing he will be in the 60-70# range when fully grown. We hope his little white forehead blaze never disappears - it's adorable. Thorne is the last puppy to be adopted, we took him off Petfinder to get a better idea of his ideal home. We have played musical fosters and have discovered that he takes time warm up. Once he knows you - he's all kinds of fun and cuddles. We think another friendly dog in the home would be great to help with the transition to his new life. His first foster mom said he mastered the bell ringing to go outside pretty quickly - he's a SMART boy! He is crate trained. He will need a PATIENT home that is prepared to continue working with him. His current foster mom has been taking him on adventures to get over his fear of new people and he's improving daily. Because of his current 'fraidy cat' nature - we think a home with older kids is best, or an adult only home. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood area. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

Story
Meet Dancer 💫 | 1-Year-Old Border Collie Mix Dancer is a quiet soul with a gentle heart — the kind of dog who watches the world carefully before deciding it’s safe to step forward. This sweet 1-year-old Border Collie mix is a timid little girl who is still learning that the world isn’t a big, scary place. New sights, sounds, and situations can feel overwhelming for her, and she looks to her people for reassurance that everything is okay. With a calm presence and kind encouragement, Dancer gains confidence one small victory at a time. While we don’t know much about her past, we do know who she is at her core: loving, affectionate, and deeply comforted by closeness. Dancer adores cuddling and being near her person — it’s where she feels safest. When she’s beside you, her worries melt away, and you’ll see her true self begin to shine. On leash, Dancer does well, sticking close and moving thoughtfully through the world. She just needs gentle reminders that passing cars, new people, and unfamiliar noises aren’t monsters — just part of the journey. A patient home that understands confidence-building will help her blossom into a dog who feels secure and brave. Dancer is looking for someone who will move at her pace, celebrate the small wins, and show her every day that she’s safe, loved, and never alone. If you believe the best relationships are built slowly, with trust and tenderness — Dancer is waiting for you. 💛  If you think you would be my perfect forever home, my friends would love to hear from you!  Contact them at: info@handsnpawswa.org  Health & Safety  All our animals are: Microchipped Up to date on vaccines Dewormed and flea treated Spayed/neutered and given rabies shots (if age appropriate) FELV/FIV testing available upon request (at adopter’s expense)  Where to Find Me  Our pets are located in foster homes, Hands 'N Paws Othello Shelter, or at PetSmart in Union Gap.  Adoption Process First come, first served unless a hold is placed Holds require a $25 non-refundable fee per pet or full adoption fee Holds last up to 7 days After 7 days, unclaimed pets and fees are considered donations  Adoption Fees  Listed under each pet’s photo on their biography page.

Story
Ace is an amazing, super sweet and dedicated border collie. We have had him for almost 5 years. We just had a baby. Ace gets overly excited when children are around and has nipped two kids hands. We aren’t willing to take the risk. Aside from that, he is absolutely loyal and such a happy boy. He loves walks and running around the yard. When he isn’t doing that, he is snuggling on the couch or in bed with us.

Story
Wilson is a Border Collie Poodle mix, he is very active, energetic, loyal and fun. He is 5 years old, and is very intelligent. He would thrive with a family that could provide him with more space and time to move, and uses positive reinforcement. He is crate trained, knows basic commands, and is non destructive. He is not fully hypoallergenic but does shed significantly less as a poodle mix. He would do best in a home without children, cats, or other dogs. He would do well with teenagers and/or adults. He is prone to resource guard with other dogs. My wife and I got him a few months after we got married, and since then he has been an absolute gift to us. We have unfortunately come to the difficult decision to rehome Wilson. He is a really wonderful dog, but we are about to have a second kid in a small house and our home/lifestyle is no longer a good fit for him. We really want him to find a family that can provide him with the life he deserves! Please message me for more details!
