Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/15/25 Lucy Luna is a Paws in Prison graduate and waiting patiently to find her forever home! At Paws in Prison, she spent 8 weeks with an inmate trainer, met weekly with a dog trainer, worked on the basics (leash walking, basic commands etc), and graduated with her Canine Good Citizen Certificate. She is now in a foster home. The inmate trainers always keep a journal throughout the 8 weeks which is passed on to the adopter. Her journal says that she likes to be bathed and likes to be talked to. The journal lists 32 commands/tricks that she worked on with her trainer!!   Lucy is about a year old and weighs about 40 pounds. We believe she is a Border Collie mix.   Great with kids and other dogs.   In her foster home before Paws in Prison, she had a history of chasing the cats. There were also 2 very tiny (5 pound) Chihuahuas that Lucy played too rough with. She wasn't being aggressive but she just didn't realize she was so much bigger than the 5 pound dogs. In her current foster home, the cats mostly keep to themselves. Lucy has seen one of the cats and did not try to chase it. Lucy is medium-high energy and plays very well with the other dogs in the house. She is a very happy and playful little girl. She will go sit by the door to alert that she needs to go out. Sometimes she will whine also to alert you.   She is house trained, crate trained, loving, playful, and a great rider in the car.   She will get in her crate very easily and doesn’t seem to mind being in it. She will sleep in bed with me or on the couch at night. I have let her free roam with the other dogs when I am just running a quick errand and she has been well behaved.    There is nothing but good things to say about this beautiful girl. And those eyes! The only thing better than her beautiful eyes is those spectacular ears! Don't miss out on this little gem! She checks all the boxes! She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. In New England.  To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message us or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any details questions. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human.  If you would like to be considered for the boys please fill out an adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Meet Cher: Cher is estimated to be about a 11 week old (as of February 2, 2025) border collie / mountain cur mix (best guess) that weighs about 9 pounds. Cher was dumped with her buddy Sonny on someone’s porch in Ashland, MS. The property owner took the pups in to get them safe, but wasn’t able to keep them so reached out to Charlie’s Crusaders to help find them great homes. Cher is currently being fostered in the Elizabethtown, PA area and would love to meet her forever family. Cher is a super sweet, friendly, tail wagging puppy that loves to be held and pet! As a puppy, Cher will need some patience while she works on her house training. We would love for Cher to have a fenced in yard to run and play freely. Cher is up to date on her shots and will be spayed when age appropriate. If you are interested in giving this little one a happy home, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. CURRENT LOCATION: Foster home in Elizabethtown, PA 17022 Kennel License #17584 ##2282373##
