You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human.  If you would like to be considered for the boys please fill out an adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Meet Daisy! Breed: Border Collie Mix Estimated DOB: 11/07/2021 Sex: Female - spayed Weight: 30 lbs Currently up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations Things to Know About Daisy: Rescued from Mississippi  Settling in great; quickly feels at home and adapts to routines Timid with new people but warms up quickly with treats Loves love: enjoys pets, giving kisses, belly rubs, and snuggling close...especially in the evening after a day of playing Enjoys being outdoors, playing in the yard, sunbathing, and snuggling on the couch. Enjoys having her human around but also loves the company of another dog for playtime. Loves chasing balls and sticks (still working on retrieving)! Daisy would thrive in a home with a good-sized yard and space to run; loves being outside and gets excited for walks. Really enjoys hikes! Incredibly smart, a quick learner, and has mesmerizing two-tone eyes (one brown, one blue) Shows bravery even when unsure or uneasy. Knows "sit" and "crate"; working on "down"  and "paw." Doing well with leash training- likes to explore new smells but responds well to redirection. Gets super excited when she sees the leash. Loves adventures, especially going for drives; will happily be your copilot! Crate trained; settles quickly and stays quiet Sleeps in her crate at night and does well when crated during the day Housebroken Has met 12-13-year-olds in her foster home and done well with kids in this age group. Dog friendly—Initially takes time to adjust to new dogs, but once settled, she’s playful and affectionate. Cat friendly - Coexisted nicely with the TLC resident cat. A total love bug who will brighten every day with her energy, snuggles, and playful spirit Learn more and apply to adopt at TLCRescuePA.com/adopt Interested in fostering? Story
I'm honestly really sad to let him go.. Due to a divorce and neither party having a place to keep him I am looking for a good home for him. He has received all his necessary shots up to this point only thing is he is not neutered. He is the epitome of a family dog. Happy, loving, AMAZING with kids, gentle and a bit of a cuddler, doesn't lick, to his credit doesn't really steal food (ive caught him a few times lol). He is already house trained but he could probably use some more leash training (he's quick study, has been with everything). He sits, he lays, he gives paws. He really is everything I wanted in a dog.. Like I said he is free, I'm not looking to make money off him I just want to make sure he has a good home. There is a caveat to this though, due to what was happening in our household we never got around to building a fence since the house is going to be sold now. Whoever wants him I just ask you have a fenced in yard for him to freely run. (xxx) xxx-xxxx .

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.1/22/25 Processed and approved an app on Lucy Luna, but they’ve ghosted us. Please share!!! Lucy Luna will be graduating Paws in Prison very soon and needs a home to go to. She will be fully trained and able to pass the Canine Good Citizen test upon graduating. She is doing well with her training! She is 9-10 months old, energetic, fun loving, easy to train girl. Great with kids as well as other dogs. Not a good candidate with cats- she plays too rough. Came to us when owners could no longer keep her due to allergies in the home. She is everything you could want- friendly, excellent with kids, loves to play with other dogs, house trained, crate trained, loving, playful, great car rider, fully vetted, about 40 lbs. There is nothing but good things to say about this beautiful girl. And those eyes! The only thing better than her beautiful eyes is those spectacular ears! Don't miss out on this little gem! She checks all the boxes! We do not know her breed, maybe Border Collie mix? She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. PLEASE SHARE! We just want her, and our other 3 currently at Paws in Prison (Jenga, Harley, Athena), to find homes. We don't know what more to do, to get dogs adopted. It's incredibly depressing to see such loving, social, well behaved dogs continue being unwanted. We are open to ideas and suggestions. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Harrisburg, PA 2am FridaysPort Jervis, NY 5am Fridays orSouthington, CT 8am Fridays East Hartford, CT 11am Fridays To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any details questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
