Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human.  If you would like to be considered for the boys please fill out an adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 12/14/24 Lucy Luna started at Paws in Prison this week. While there, she’ll work with inmates as well as a dog trainer to learn the basics, leash walking, etc. She’ll graduate in 8 weeks with her canine good citizen certificate and then she’ll be ready to go to her new home!  From Paws in Prison- 'She’s definitely one to watch. This is Lucy Luna. We don’t know why this pretty girl has two names, but it’s okay. Anyway, Lucy is super smart and unusually focused for a 9-month-old puppy. She will train quickly and easily. She’s a mixed breed. Could be border collie, but we don’t know for sure. Lucy had owners who loved her, but they had to surrender her due to a grandchild’s severe allergy. Lucy loves people and is very friendly and soft. Of course we need to polish her manners, but her potential is huge. Don’t take your eyes off her because Lucy is going to do big things!'     She is everything you could want- friendly, excellent with kids, loves to play with other dogs, doesn't pay cats any mind, house trained, crate trained, loving, playful, great car rider, fully vetted, about 9 months old and 40 lbs. There is nothing but good things to say about this beautiful girl. And those eyes! The only thing better than her beautiful eyes is those spectacular ears! Don't miss out on this little gem! She checks all the boxes!   Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.11/23/24  Clover is the MOST WONDERFUL girl that ever crossed my path! This sweet angel was abandoned when her owners moved. Left behind like a pile of garbage and unwanted furniture. A neighbor noticed that was still there and reached out to the owner and it turns out that they had fallen on hard times and were evicted. They weren't able to find housing to accommodate Clover. They seemed like they loved her but were not capable of doing better for her. By the time we were contacted to help her, she had been eating garbage out of the yard, trying to survive, and she had a severe flea infestation which caused a lot of hair loss. When I went over to pick her up, it was like she knew I was there to help her. She immediately offered me kisses and just glued herself to me. She had been so lonely and was so happy to have me there. We treated her for fleas and got her all caught up on vaccinations, etc. Sadly, Clover tested positive for heartworms and is undergoing treatment for that now. Once her treatment is finished, she will be ready to find a home of her own. She is safe and happy in her foster home for now. Clover is about 8 years old and we believe she may be a border collie mix, but it's hard to know her breed for sure. She is a happy, gentle spirit with all the love in the world to give. She loves other dogs, big and small, and is good with cats and kids of all ages, including the pre school aged child in her foster home. She is the whole package and everything anyone could want in a pet. She is not at all destructive and is house trained, so crating her is not necessary, but if you prefer it she will adjust. She does enjoy playing with other dogs, but would be fine as an only dog as well. She is more focused on the humans than they other pets, but she is perfectly fine and happy to share if need be. She is very much a go with the flow kind of girl. Clover weighs about 45 lbs and is long past growing any more. Her coat has grown in beautifullly in only a month's time. We want so much for this precious girl to find a home of her own. She loves her foster family, but she deserves a home where she can get more one on one attention. They foster several dogs and have several of their own as well. If you are open to adopting a senior, please consider Clover. You will be so happy you did! In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/11/24 Courtesy post: if anyone would like to adopt her, she can be adopted through our rescue. This poor girl has had a rough go of things. Here's her story:Rosie's history. Rescued by Humane Society in North Arkansas, did well in Paws in Prison, so she is fully trained and vetted. She was mistakenly adopted to a person with good intentions, but who was in active addiction. Her adopter had a wreck with her in the car. Charged with DUI. Rosie was taken by Animal Control, but the adopter's brother got her in June. He now says Rosie can't stay there bc his dogs are aggressive with her, so here she goes through another transition. She is sweet but anxious. Of course, she is. Humane Society said they are full and can't take her back. Rosie is 1 yr old and 45 lbs. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Story
This week guy was left locked in a cage for a couple of months. Since he's been in rescue, he is very affectionate and playful. Loves dogs, and kids but not a cat guy. We think he's about three years old and he weighs 40 pounds. Would love to have someone to run and play tug with. He would love a fun active family. If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, please visit funnyfarmpets.org, or you can read all about our Tennessee based rescue and find the link to submit the adoption application He is ready to go!
