**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Kipsie. I'm about 6-8 months old and I weigh about 30 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Guliford Lake/ Lisbon area and I was brought into the pound. I am a very sweet and loving little girl. I could use a little work with my manners and training, but overall, I am an excellent girl. I am smart and I want to be with my people. I would do great with an active family that can give me plenty of exercise. I get along great with other dogs and I love to play. I am doing a good job of keeping my kennel clean here at the pound and I seem to be well on my way to being completely housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet pup to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Meet Kage, the ultimate good boy who's just so darn cute! This gentleman is a pro at house living, fully potty trained, and a master at walking on a leash and harness. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Remember, when you adopt Kage, you're not just bringing home a good boy; you're giving him the loving, understanding home he deserves. Don't shop, adopt, because Kage's life depends on it! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Nova is an approximately 3 year old lab and border collie mix, weighing  approximately 60 lbs.    While my past is not known, I was rescued by some nice people after trying to live outside on my own! It appears I may have lived outside for most of my life, so I’m really enjoying this indoor house life. True to my roots though, being outside and running around is one of my favorite things to do! I make sure my foster takes me on walks several times a day! We sure do get our steps in! Although not required, I'd ideally love a home with a fenced in yard so I can run around and get all of my energy out! I'm very playful and high energy, so lots of exercise is a must .  Although I may be a little scared at times, I love making new dog friends and playing with them! I'd do well alone or with another dog friend at home that I can learn from.  I love kids too, but would best be suited in a family with older children due to my playful nature and sometimes not realizing my own size! I would love a mom in the house too, as sometimes men can scare me a bit at first! I warm up to them though and am realizing I can trust them!  I do well in my crate and put myself to sleep each night without being asked! I’m now house trained and do well on a regular schedule!  I’m learning some simple commands, but would benefit from some ongoing training while I still work on some manners. I just need some patience and love! As far as toys go, I do best with something I can chew on instead of plush toys - as they don’t last me long! My foster has to remind me that not everything is a toy for me, so I’ll need someone who is able to keep working with me on some manners.  Someone who has patience and time to help me learn would be ideal!  I truly am the sweetest dog! Everyone who meets me falls in love with me! I’m loyal, playful, and so sweet !  I would love to find my forever home!! This dog is available for adoption Paws Across Pittsburgh KL#16182.  ##2015898##

Story
Meet Baron, a 60 lb husky/collie/shepherd mix who is as sweet as he is smart! Baron recieved some of the best qualities from his doggy ancestors: he's social and has a big personality like a husky, he's intelligent and eager to learn like a shepherd, and affectionate and loyal like a collie. At just over one year old, Baron still has a few puppy tendencies, but because of how eager to please he is, he is doing excellent with his training. Baron is fully house trained, crate trained (although he will complain about it at first just to remind you that he'd really rather be hanging out with you), and walks very well on a leash. His adopter should be willing to continue working on his training to make sure he grows into the best dog that he can be. Baron is a high energy pup that would do best in an active home that can give him the mental and physical exercise he needs to thrive. Need a running partner? Baron is your guy! He makes an excellent jogging buddy and loves going for runs and walks with his people. He adores toys, bones, and doggy puzzles and even though he’s at his best when he has a job to do, he is able to settle and entertain himself. Baron is also extremely social with other dogs and would do great in a home with a playful doggy friend. During his time in foster, he has interacted with both male and female dogs, ranging from 25 lbs to 75 lbs, and has done very well with all! He could play all day if you would let him, but takes cues nicely from other dogs when they tell him that playtime is over. Baron still has some puppy mouthiness when he plays and likes to zoom around the yard when he is really excited! He is working on containing all that puppy energy in foster and we have already seen great improvements with time and structure, but for this reason, we do not recommend a home with small children for Baron. However, we think he would be great with older kids. Baron is very food motivated and learns new things quickly! He has already undergone extensive training in his foster home, including a few scent work classes. Baron even knows a few tricks already, like sit, down, paw, and place. He was a complete rockstar at puppy class and would love an adoptive family who is willing to keep teaching him tricks to keep his big brain working. If you are willing to teach Baron something, he is always 100% onboard to learn from you. Baron truly is at his best when he is "working" and can channel his energy into doing something with and for his people. This boy is SMART and will make an amazing companion for a family who is willing to help him continue on the path to being the best boy he can be. Baron is available now for adoption through Paws Across Pittsburgh (kl#16182). If this intelligent, active boy seems like a good fit for your family, apply today! ##1898434##
