Story
Hi everyone!  My name is Annabelle!   I am a 5 year old Border Collie mix weighing in at about 40 pounds.  I am great with kids and people of all ages really.  I may be shy at first but I warm up pretty quickly.  I get along with other dogs as long as they respect my space at first until we get to know each other then I'm happy to play and cuddle with them too.  I don't mind cats, I let them do their own thing.  I enjoy to relax on the couch hanging out with my people and I equally love going on long walks and run around.  I sometimes get really excited when I want to go outside and I'll put on a show and dance for you and bark sometimes but not too loud.  I do well on leashes, I don't pull much.  I am house trained.  I will willingly go in my crate when told to but it isn't necessarily my favorite place. Please leave a comfy blanket and toys in there for me. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   November 13, 2024, 4:34 pm

Story
Space is a 9 month old medium size dog. She loves other dogs and has done well with cats. Space needs a special adopter that will give her time to realize people aren’t so scary. She has made a TON of progress at her foster home but is still very timid at times. She gets SO excited to see you after work but still only wants to be pet on her own terms. She will do best in a home with no children, another dog to help build her confidence, and her own yard, as she is not leash trained. She is very fearful of the leash, leading us to believe she may have had a traumatic experience involving a leash before coming to HART. This dog absolutely loves to be comfy. All she wants is a comfortable bed or to curl up by your feet on the couch. If you’re looking for a playmate for your dog that does not beg for constant attention or a friend to keep your dog busy while you’re at work, Space could be a great choice for you. If interested in meeting Space please fill out an application at www.rescueahart.org!

Story
My wife and I adopted Ricky from a family friend. Dad is a purebred border collie, and Mom is a purebred American pitbull. We were looking for a younger friend for our one dog to keep her active. After having two kids (a 2-year-old daughter and a 2-month-old son), making sure Ricky gets time to play and keeping up with cleaning has become too much for us. Ricky is a very loving dog and loves to play. He needs playtime and affection, but our children are not big enough to play with him. He doesn't know his own size and thinks that everybody loves "kisses." Which doesn't work well with a toddler and an infant. It's really hard for us to ask for someone to adopt him because he has been such a great pet, but we worry for the safety of our children due to his size and lack of knowing how big he is. He likes to play rough and needs a home where he has space to run around and play with other animals. He has never nipped or bit at our children or other people. Willing to pay to re-home.

Story
Pretty is a pure bred shorthaired border collie, 2 years old. She is strong, gentle, affectionate. She desires to be obedient, listens and learns well, but had not been properly trained and may have some habits in need of correction. She has a strong a strong herding instinct, so she could make a good working farm dog. She is bold, but afraid of loud sudden noises such a thunder, fireworks, and gun shots, from which she seeks shelter or barks with concern at the sky. She would be a wonderful companion or family pet regardless. She has lived outside full time.  She gets along well with our four boys, ages 9–15, as well neighboring kids and adults. She has no fear of strangers and is friendly with everyone. Ideally, a new home would offer lots of outdoor time and space like she is accustomed to. A family that has breed experience. She could live indoors with outside time, but may not be compatible with smaller pets because of her strong prey drive, and will need to be house trained. She is familiar with basic commands such as her name, come, sit, lie down, wait, and thank you (break word). Adoption app: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/12786/generic ##2095927##

Story
Meet Kage, the ultimate good boy who's just so darn cute! This gentleman is a pro at house living, fully potty trained, and a master at walking on a leash and harness. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Remember, when you adopt Kage, you're not just bringing home a good boy; you're giving him the loving, understanding home he deserves. Don't shop, adopt, because Kage's life depends on it! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Eloise, an endearing female Border Collie mix with a heart full of love. Born around September 2, 2023, this sweet girl currently weighs 17.2 pounds and is ready to find her forever home. Eloise's journey began in a challenging way when she was found abandoned in a field at just 6 weeks old by a compassionate feral cat feeder. Luckily, she was brought to a rescue where she quickly captured the hearts of everyone she met. Her gentle nature and affectionate personality made her a favorite among volunteers and staff alike. Previously, Eloise was adopted into a loving home, but unfortunately, her presence didn't quite mesh well with their older cat. With a heavy heart, her family made the difficult decision to return her to the rescue, knowing that she deserved a harmonious environment where she could thrive. Eloise is described as very sweet, albeit a bit shy initially. Once she feels comfortable, her warmth and charm shine through, making her a delightful companion. She's already mastered potty training and now effortlessly uses a doggy door. Could your home be the perfect match for Eloise's gentle spirit? If you're ready to open your heart and home to this loving pup, you can apply for Eloise at www.adoggie4you.org. Her adoption fee is $300, which includes all her vaccinations, spaying, and a microchip. Don't miss out on the opportunity to make Eloise a cherished member of your family—she's eagerly waiting to meet you This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.
