Chili is a beautiful 4-year old (possible) Border Collie/Whippet mix who was brought to HSOV on November 5, 2024 after she was found in Marietta Ohio. Chili was quite visibly pregnant when she entered our shelter and our compassionate HSOV staff kept a close watchful eye on her since it seemed that she would likely give birth in the next few days. Chili was taken to one of our wonderful local veterinarians on November 11th since she hadn’t given birth on her own, and she underwent a Cesarean Section. Chili gave birth to 11 premature puppies and, in spite of heroic efforts by everyone involved, none of the babies survived. Chili was spayed while she was under anesthesia and returned to HSOV a few days later where she followed doctor’s orders (bed rest/relaxation and no strenuous activity) and remained in a quiet room of her own. Chili has a black-and-white short smooth coat, black freckles/ticking on her front legs, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and large semi-erect/horizontal ears. Chili has a sweet, outgoing personality. This collection of photos were taken during the month of November 2024 beginning with the first day we had the pleasure of meeting Chili on November 5th and HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied her for photos in the HSOV lobby. The second set of photos were taken on November 7th when Chili was in her spacious 'maternity ward' near the hallway/lobby of our shelter. Chili looked so beautiful that day relaxing on a bright red-and-black plaid blanket. The last set of photos were taken on November 17th when Chili was recuperating from the loss of her puppies. HSOV Volunteer Emma Dahlgren had Chili outdoors that afternoon to spend some time in the sunshine/fresh air .. And Chili was showered with attention from Emma. Chili loves her people friends but is a bit selective about which dogs she accepts into her circle of friends (and she is a bit jealous of other dogs when it comes to receiving attention). Chili loves to snuggle on the shelter sofa when she is treated to social outings in the lobby. Chili weighs approximately 60 lbs and is fairly energetic. She loves to jump on her human friends for attention and may unintentionally knock small/young children down. This gorgeous empty-nester is ready to find a loving home of her very own.

Chili was a good sport about wearing Christmas costumes when she was "rockin' around the HSOV Christmas tree" on December 16th with HSOV Shelter Manager Tracy Lynn Moore... With the exception of not being thrilled about the hooded snowman suit. Chili loves her people friends but is a bit selective about which dogs she accepts into her circle of friends (and she is a bit jealous of other dogs when it comes to receiving attention). Hi there, I’m Fletcher!Oh boy, where do I even start? My name’s Fletcher, and I’m pretty sure I was sent straight from heaven to find you. I’m a Collie mix with the fluffiest fur you’ve ever seen (trust me, it’s perfect for snuggles), a big ol’ smile that never quits, and a wiggly little booty that can’t help but dance when I see someone I love—which is, well, everyone!I’m pretty new here at FDHS, but I’ve already got the humans completely smitten. They keep calling me an “angel baby” and a “perfect floofy gentleman,” which sounds about right. I was such a good boy during my intake exam (no complaints, just tail wags!) and I’ve been nothing but sweet, polite, and gentle to all my caregivers. They say I’ve got a heart of gold, and I think they might be right.Now, I’ll let you in on a little secret: I’m still working on this whole “leash” thing. It makes me a little nervous, but I promise I’m trying my best. With a bit of patience, some encouragement, and maybe a few treats (I’ll do anything for snacks), I just know I can learn. I’m a smart boy, after all!I’ve been super friendly with the other doggies here—no grumpies, no fuss, just tail wags and happy vibes. I haven’t met any kitties yet, but everyone here says I’m so sweet and gentle that I’ll probably get along with just about anyone.So, here’s the deal: I’m ready to love you with my whole floofy heart. I AM STILL WORKING ON… I was not potty trained, but I am working hard on it, and I hardly have any accidents now. I go outside and inside very easily. My foster family has a doggie door and I can go in and out when I need to go. I'm also learning to stand by the door to let my foster family know I have to go outside. I AM NOT GOOD WITH… I have not met a cat yet so I do not know how I feel about them. I REQUIRE… Just a little patience and understanding while I learn and explore the world around me. I am curious and love to explore and hope you will be my new best friend. **All animals in our care are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (age 1 & up), given preventatives, and provided with initial vaccinations AT MINIMUM. Booster shots are included in the adoption fee and will be performed at our clinic, or the adopter can use their own vet at their expense. Adopters must reside within 2 hours of Columbus, OH. No transportation assistance is available.**
