Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Introducing Axton! This sweet boy was one of the brightest kids in The DASH Prison Training Program where he brushed up on his house manners before he went to his current foster home. His foster mom said he's such a cuddle bug! In the program, he did well learning to walk on a leash and did not complain about being in his crate but would much rather be out snuggling with his people. He worked on "sit, down, stay, wait, & leave it." (Of course, continued work on these commands will keep him perfect)!  His handler said he is very intelligent, attentive, affectionate, and has become comfortable enough to snore in his sleep. Axton is a social boy, who seems to love all people, as well as other dogs! Axton also likes his toys and playing in water. He is energetic at play time but also loves when it's time to chill out. Axton did so well and consistent with practicing his basic commands, he moved on to tricks - He was learning to speak! He is ready for his new family. He's got his tuxedo on ready for his big day when he gets adopted. Let's not disappoint this good boy.  * Note: Axton is part of our Foster to Adopt program. Story
Pretty is a pure bred shorthaired border collie, 2 years old. She is strong, gentle, affectionate. She desires to be obedient, listens and learns well, but had not been properly trained and may have some habits in need of correction. She has a strong a strong herding instinct, so she could make a good working farm dog. She is bold, but afraid of loud sudden noises such a thunder, fireworks, and gun shots, from which she seeks shelter or barks with concern at the sky. She would be a wonderful companion or family pet regardless. She has lived outside full time with her sister from the same litter, Joy, with access to five acres on which they happily roam and play. She gets along well with our four boys, ages 9–15, as well neighboring kids and adults. She has no fear of strangers and is friendly with everyone. Ideally, a new home would offer lots of outdoor time and space like she is accustomed to. She could live indoors with outside time, but may not be compatible with smaller pets because of her strong prey drive, and will need to be house trained. She is familiar with basic commands such as her name, come, sit, lie down, wait, and thank you (break word), yet she will need reinforcement training. Her sister Joy is also up for adoption, but because they have littermate aggression tendencies, Regina has suggested re-homing them separately. Story
"Hello my name is HAILEY and I'm a fetchaholic..." Beautiful mixed breed girl Hailey loves toys and play time, especially fetch. She is a lively mixed breed lass who needs an active home. She has the intense eyes and focus of a border collie, Australian Shepherd toes and a medium length coat that's shorter than both of those breeds, we have no clue what else may be in the mix. She is around 18 months old and fully grown at 31 pounds. Hailey is very intelligent and a quick study. She already knows "sit" and should be a fun dog to train. Hailey is very people-oriented,  she's an affectionate girl who bonds closely to people.  Hailey is good with other dogs and fine with cats. She's best suited to a home with a physically-fenced yard suitable for zoomies and fetch. She is housebroken. If you'd like to meet Hailey, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Hailey at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee. Story
Are you ready to hit the jackpot? KENO is a stunning mixed breed girl looking for a home. Keno isn't just a pretty face, this girl is SMART. Someone has done a considerable amount of training with her. She was an owner surrender at a rural shelter. Keno appears to be a herding breed type mix, probably some border collie and/or some Australian Shepherd and who knows what else? She's about 2 years old and fully grown at 38 pounds, a nice mid-sized dog. Keno (her actual name) has excellent recall, knows sit and is well trained in the proper way to play fetch, bringing back the ball and laying down in front of you waiting for the next toss or command. She has lovely leash manners, too. Keno is active and athletic and needs a home with an adopter who will insure she gets plenty of physical and mental exercise. Keno would be a great partner for a runner and would thrive in agility training. She's great with similar-sized dogs but not so good with small dogs. Keno loves toys and fetch and is best suited to a home with a physically fenced yard. She has a herding breed personality and would not be a good choice for a first time adopter or a home with small children. If you'd like to meet stunning Keno, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter.
