- Super sweet and happy boy who has a very cute whole body wiggle- Loves people and companionship - May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs (dog intro recommended) - All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for age- The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Hi, I'm Daize. I'm a 1 year old Border Collie mix. My foster says I'm a sweet girl and do really well at their house. I'd love a home where I can love my humans, play, and feel safe! I'm a little shy at first but warm up easily. I just need someone who is willing to give me the time and patience that it takes for me to adjust to a new home.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2184922##

Story
Hutch is a 45 lb border collie mix. He is a quick learner who is extremely food motivated and knows sit, lie down, settle, come, and heel. His ideal owners would be willing to take him on walks/runs and have a fenced in yard. He is potty trained and roams freely in the house without accidents. He is occasionally reactive to other dogs (especially larger dogs) and we have found that a gentle leader leash will help direct his attention back to you. Needs a proper introduction to dogs, especially those similar or larger in size. Neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and flea treatment. He currently lives with two cats and one smaller dog, and steers clear of the cats. Loves head scratches and belly rubs. When we adopted him he had severe separation anxiety and had frequent accidents in the house. We were told he was previously a “farm dog” and lived with two other dogs and children.
