Story
Little Lily has had a rough start to her life and is looking for an experienced adopter. Lily joined our rescue from South Texas where she was tied to a porch with her siblings for the first 1+ year of her life. For this reason, Lily didn't experience much as far as socializing with people, or getting out and about to see the world. Lily moved to foster care with older kids, other dogs, and cats, where she did really well. She transported to Boise and was adopted, but has had some struggles with her adoptive home and is seeking a better fit. Lily is extremely sensitive to sounds and gets scared easily, so she tends to be quite anxious. Lily's ideal home would have a confident older dog, and a quiet owner who is home often that would be willing to work with her anxious tendencies. Lily's adoption comes with a "Welcome Home Package" from A Pawsitive Alternative, which includes a consultation, training plan, and three weeks of assistance with the training plan. Lily loves to sleep on the bed, but she is crate trained as well. Her ideal new family will provide a lot of cuddles. Lily has an elevated pallet, she loves freeze dried salmon treats and is quick to learn with the right snacks. Lily is a sprinkler girl! She will run through them all day, and she loves a good car ride with the windows down. She loves other dogs and enjoys playing in the yard. If you're looking for a shadow dog, Lily is your girl! Overall Lily is a wonderful little dog that will make a great companion with the right family. If she sounds like a good fit, we encourage you to fill out our adoption application: freedomboundhounds.com/adopt Lily is available in the Boise area.

Story
Hank is a handsome and healthy 6 year old border collie / aussie mix. He is a smart dog and quick to learn. He loves endless pets, is food and job motivated, and wants to be by your side. He is a sweet boy. He’s gone to dog training classes and quickly picked up commands like come, stay, roll over, and place. He loves playing fetch with a ball and even hide and seek with the ball! He’s been part of a two dog household but he’s not sure about new dogs when they first meet. His herding instincts kick in which can cause an unwanted altercation. A successful new home for him would be with an owner that has time to continue his training and either someone who enjoys high endurance walks/runs or has a larger yard for epic fetch sessions.

Story
Luna was adopted from Idaho humane society over the summer by her adopter and his young daughter. A few weeks back he fell upon some hard times and had some major health issues. I agreed to foster Luna while he underwent major surgery and throughout his recovery, however, he has decided a young dog with her energy is just too much for him. Luna is about 1 year old and as sweet as can be. She loves pets and snuggles and is friendly with everyone she meets. She is very friendly with other dogs, but still has the in-your-face puppy play style. She is fostered with two other dogs and responds well to their boundaries. She is a toy stealer though so watch out haha. But she does not resource guard and shares food and treats well. She is house trained, knows sit, down, and already has good recall. She is a very smart pup. She would do well with someone who could work through her puppy energy. Not sure how she would do with cats or small children.

Story
Finn is a Red Border Collie that we have had since a puppy. His father was a show dog and his mother an agility competitor. He is a wonderful dog with adult children and adult families. He loves to run and chase anything. He’s a wonderful house guard dog and a great companion for hiking. He gets along wonderfully well with some dogs and not well with others. His brother is a black lab and Finn likes to occasionally remind his brother that Finn is indeed the boss. Finn bit our son (age 2) a few months ago and we have been looking for a good family to rehome Finn, but we have had no luck. We wouldn’t recommend Finn to a family with young children; however teens and adults are just fine.

Story
Miss Ellie was found walking across a busy highway in Caldwell, Idaho, on July 20, 2024. Efforts to find her people came up empty, and on Aug. 3 she delivered seven pups. Vets estimate her age to be somewhere between 1-2 years old. She weighs 38 pounds. Wisdom Panel DNA on one of the puppies revealed 77% Australian cattle dog, single-digit percentages of Mini-American Shepherd, Border Collie, Golden Retriever, Australian Shepherd, Collie. It is safe to say that Ellie is primarily Australian cattle dog. Ellie is housetrained, crate trained, quite affectionate and happy, thoroughly enjoys other dogs, leaves cats to themselves; although, she will chase if they run. She hunts like a fox or coyote, hearing the slightest movement in alfalfa fields/grasses and pouncing. Ellie is an active dog and enjoys her daily outings. She is housetrained and desires to be near her people as much as possible—even wants to be touching someone while she sleeps. Ellie's adoption fee is $350 and includes spay and vaccines. Born Aug. 3, 2024 in Nampa, Idaho, Ipso is one of seven ACD mix puppies. Wisdom Panel DNA showed 77% Australian Cattle Dog, single-digit% Mini-American Shepherd, Border Collie, Golden Retriever, Australian Shepherd, trace% Collie. Her mom was taken in as a stray, looks like ACD/Shepherd cross. Charismatic Ipso will be an amazing companion to an active person who will include her in outdoor chores and activities, fill her life with adventures every day, appreciate her energy and need for fun mental and physical exercise. Funny, intelligent, highly observant, Ipso lives for enjoying life and getting things done. She loves good food and needs someone who makes her meals enjoyable. She also loves being near her people in the house. “By the very fact,” Ipso Facto is the quintessential fun, smart, energetic cattle dog and loyal friend. At the time of photos in early December, 2024, Ipso weighed 21 pounds. Ipso's adoption fee is $300 and an additional deposit of $200 will be refunded upon proof of spay, which is a requirement when Ipso is between the ages of 9 and 12 months. Story
Liz, aka Lady Elizabeth, is an Australian Kelpie mix. She is approximately 3 years old and about 36 lbs. Liz is highly inquisitive and just the sweetest bundle of joy. We love this dog’s intensity. She is going to need an active family and lifestyle. She is a tough, resilient little dog. She is intelligent, eager and enthusiastic. Liz is great with other dogs! Though as an extremely social lady she occasionally gets a bit bossy, this results in her trying to herd her pals. She LOVES to play with her foster sister (a very dominant herder herself). They enjoy wrestling and will zoom around the yard with toys playing chase. Liz is housetrained and crate trained. She rides well in the car and loves going places with you. This social girl loves all people, occasionally is a little shy at first with strangers, but warms up quickly. We don’t know how Liz is with cats and she is probably a little too intense for young children. When Liz first came into rescue we noticed she was having trouble with one of her back legs, possibly from a previous injury. In November she had hip surgery (modified femoral head ostectomy) and is now fully recovered and has been released by her surgeon. This has not slowed Lizzie down at all, but due to this she is not a candidate for competing in agility. She would be great at other dog sports! It doesn’t impede her hiking and she doesn’t require medication or follow ups! When asked to sum up living with Liz, many things came to mind. I will miss her! She’s just a delight, cute and cuddly, rather an expert snuggler, but always up for a walk or play session. Her best characteristic is her happy energy. She enjoys her routine and will benefit from sticking to a more active life style. Since her surgery, she’s gotten even braver and her hilarious antics are going to light up someone’s life. She loves my female the most. They are always playing or cuddling. She’s hiked with a lot of my friends larger dogs and did fantastically (malamutes and vizslas). Definitely worth noting she is a passionate chewer. It brings her such joy! She can be a bit destructive with her chewing so we are mindful of things left on the floor. (We’ve only lost one slipper and after a redirect she has been the perfect house guest). She is insanely fast at learning and will just need some time to acclimate to her new home! She will come with some of her favorite toys! Elizabeth is a really easy keeper. She’s a true darling with the sweetest disposition. She deserves the best life! Liz's adoption fee is $350. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. If you are interested in possibly adopting Liz, please complete an adoption application located here: https://idawg.org/application.html
