Story
Buttercup is a 1.5-2 year old Border Collie mix weighing about 35lbs.   Buttercup was dumped at a shelter in New Mexico with 2 day old puppies.  Some crummy human actually dumped a terrified, exhausted, brand new Momma at the shelter to die alone trying to protect her puppies.  When the shelter moved her into a cage with her puppies she tried to protect them (obviously) so the shelter immediately deemed her unadoptable, but was going to adopt out her puppies at less than a week old.  Keep in mind, these shelters in this area are dealing with almost zero government funding and hundreds of dogs being dumped on them, so this is not their fault.   We couldn't let Buttercup die this way and we didn't want her to be separated from her puppies that she loved so much.  We scrambled to get a transport together to get them all here to CO where they would be safe.  Once the puppies were old enough Buttercup went to our board and train program since we had to do our do dilligence since the shelter had deemed her "aggressive".  The day she went to our trainer, our trainer called us within the hours and said Buttercup was the sweetest happiest girl and she did not need board and train, and could be put up for adoption.  We decided to go through with the training program since she was already there and we knew it would set her up for success no matter what.  We do strongly believe in training and will require her adopters take our partner training classes just so they can learn more about dogs and learn about everything Buttercup has learned while she has been here.  Buttercup is a wonderful pup.  She has an amazing zest for life and is just always so happy and social.  She gets along great with all other dogs and people.  She has a good amount of energy just like most Border Collies but she also loves affection and loves to snuggle.  She is everybody's favorite who meets her.  She would be a perfect dog for daily runs/hikes, a doggy playmate, an someone who wants a dog to love and snuggle! If you are interested in adopting Buttercup, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##1773351##

Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a sweet young dog that needs our help. Velvet is one of these dogs that deserves, due to her excellent temperament and all the love she'll bring to a family, to have a wonderful home filled with pure love and nurturing. Velvet is a gorgeous 40 lb, 8 month Border Collie / Australian Shepherd mix that is nothing but pure love. Velvet's breed was identified by shelter veterinarians..all we know for certain is that this sweet girl is irresistible! This pup is SO sweet and will make a wonderful addition to a dog-loving family. Velvet's foster sent us the following bio about her: "Velvet is SO good!! She is so so friendly with all people she meets, amazing with other dogs, plays well, cuddles, and is just so dang sweet. She is crate trained and potty trained. Velvet is sooo sweet and loves to give kisses and receive belly rubs. She is very social and loves to make new friends and they all fall in love with her! 1000/10 dog right here. Someone will be so lucky to be her forever home!" And the shelter that we rescued Velvet from had the following to say about her: "If you are looking for one of the sweetest, kindest and most wonderful dogs I've ever rescued.. Velvet is the one for you! She's so excited to find her forever home and to be part of a loving family. She has a lot of love to give, is funny, gentle, smart, friendly, playful, athletic, brave, and affectionate. She will make an incredible companion and she loves to make friends. Velvet was relinquished by her family when they had to move across the country and didn't want to bring her with. She was adopted right away from the shelter (no surprise, she's such a great dog!) but then they returned her a week later because their landlord found out and said "no dogs over 25 lbs". When they brought her back, she had been given a haircut... their reason for cutting her beautiful long hair was "so her dresses could fit"... I have no words haha! But she is still gorgeous and happy and so excited that she gets to go to Colorado for a fresh start!" Velvet is a perfect size to accompany her family just about everywhere a medium size dog is welcome. She will fit right into virtually every situation due to her great temperament and very sweet personality. As Velvet becomes comfortable in her forever home, she'll blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more Velvet will shine with her accomplishments. Farfel's would like to see our wonderful girl in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some couch-time with belly rubs would be perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a smart and cooperative dog like Velvet the skills to accompany her family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area. Velvet would love to have another dog to play with but it's not mandatory if her people are nurturing and involved. Velvet will also do well with a couple or individual that works from a home-based office. She would bask in the attention and periodic cuddles throughout the day that this life-style brings. Velvet has been fully vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. She has also been spayed as we work for a future that is euthanasia - free within the canine population. Velvet is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet, super-smart and very loving best friend. Apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Velvet please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
This sweet, beautiful girl is Ogallala but everyone calls her Olga. She came to Soul Dog in 2021 fearful and feral. Olga is still very fearful, a high-anxiety neurotic dog, but also very sweet and gentle and silly. For the first several months in her long-term foster home, Olga hid in her selected corner and only snuck around at night. Over time, she has gradually blossomed from cowering in the corner to relaxing on the sofa with the pack, greeting the family when they come home, and soliciting affection. Now instead of trying to hide, one of her favorite past-times is shouting out the window at people and dogs outside. Although she has gained a lot of confidence, Olga still has a lot of fears and triggers. She is terrified of people and loud sounds, and anything that sounds like banging. The sounds of roofers or even kids playing basketball will send her running. When she’s frightened or unsure, her instinct is to bolt, then hunker down and hide. She has come an unbelievably long way during her time with her foster and is starting to learn that some people and places aren't so bad. She needs a kind and understanding person to give her the patience, quiet, time, and love that she desperately needs. Since she has grown very comfortable in and accustomed to her foster home after all this time, ideally, she should have a gradual transition to her forever home to ease her fears and separation anxiety. She isin a foster home. If you’re interested in meeting her please submit an application on our website at www.souldog.org. Email adopt@souldog.org with any questions!
