Hi there, I'm Katy! I'm an adult dog with a heart full of love and a spirit that's always ready to play. I'm a sweet soul, always ready to share a friendly wag of my tail. My gentle nature makes me a great companion for calm afternoons, and my cuddly side loves nothing more than a good snuggle. I'm loyal to my core, always sticking by those I care about. Energy? I've got plenty of that! I love a good game of fetch or a brisk walk. I'm smart too, quick to learn new tricks and commands. Playful as can be, I'll bring joy and laughter into your life. So why should you adopt me? Because I'm not just a dog, I'm a friend, a companion, a source of unconditional love and loyalty. With me, every day will be filled with fun, love, and a special bond that only a pet like me can provide. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2231342##

Rayah is a good girl! She is ready to go to a home where she can get lots of love and maybe a little hiking in, too? Her former owner said she loved to hike! She's a friendly pupper who loves hugs - she sometimes is a little shy, but with a few sniffs she warms up! She's a young girl with lots of energy (did we mention hiking?) and loves to play with her ball. She knows `sit` and `stay`. She probably won't do well with cats - she likes to chase them, but she has lived with dogs before. Please bring your dog and children with you when you come to visit. Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! From the foster: Puppy 787 is the sweetest guy looking for his forever home! From the minute we brought him home, puppy 787 has been happy, curious and a confident gentle giant. He has been content to play and explore on his own, but also enjoys playing with his brother. He loves to explore outside as much as he can, spending most of the day sniffing around the backyard, or wrestling with his brother. Puppy 787 likes to play with our 65 pound dog, but also recognizes his boundaries and will redirect that energy towards something else when necessary. He has slept overnight and taken all of his naps in a crate with his brother with no crying. I imagine there may be an adjustment period when he's on his own, but he's up for the challenge! He is progressing well with potty training when given ample opportunities to go outside, but would benefit from a little patience from his new family. We are calling him Caden - his name means fighter and survivor.   He came to us last night with two embedded collars and never even flinched as we cut them loose and peeled them from his neck.   He knew he had finally received the help he desperately needed after what appears to have been a large portion of his ten months of life being slowly strangled with his neck being sliced open.   This boy is so kind, he follows me everywhere, happily wagging his tail, yet has some trepidation over fast movements and objects so we are working through that. He clearly has everything it takes to be an incredible dog for the right person.    HOW DARE THE PEOPLE WHO DID THIS TO HIM DUMP HIM THE WAY THEY DID TO DIE OF INFECTION AND STARVATION    He needs your help!
