Story
This sweet, beautiful girl is Ogallala but everyone calls her Olga. She came to Soul Dog in 2021 fearful and feral. Olga is still very fearful, a high-anxiety neurotic dog, but also very sweet and gentle and silly. For the first several months in her long-term foster home, Olga hid in her selected corner and only snuck around at night. Over time, she has gradually blossomed from cowering in the corner to relaxing on the sofa with the pack, greeting the family when they come home, and soliciting affection. Now instead of trying to hide, one of her favorite past-times is shouting out the window at people and dogs outside. Although she has gained a lot of confidence, Olga still has a lot of fears and triggers. She is terrified of people and loud sounds, and anything that sounds like banging. The sounds of roofers or even kids playing basketball will send her running. When she’s frightened or unsure, her instinct is to bolt, then hunker down and hide. She has come an unbelievably long way during her time with her foster and is starting to learn that some people and places aren't so bad. She needs a kind and understanding person to give her the patience, quiet, time, and love that she desperately needs. Since she has grown very comfortable in and accustomed to her foster home after all this time, ideally, she should have a gradual transition to her forever home to ease her fears and separation anxiety. She isin a foster home. If you’re interested in meeting her please submit an application on our website at www.souldog.org. Email adopt@souldog.org with any questions!

Story
Hi my name is Apple Bloom and I am real cute! I am an Australian Shepherd mix which means I am a herding breed, Here are few things you should know about herding breeds.Herding breeds were bred to control things in their environment and herd livestock on the farm. Therefore they can have a tendency to “move” or herd their people also. Because they were bred to do this work, they have excellent vision, coordination and motor skills. These traits can make them very sensitive to sudden changes in the environment. These skills, which are so useful on the farm, can make them hyper sensitive to visual stimuli in our human world. Visual stimuli and/or sudden environmental changes could be something as simple as a squirrel running, a fly buzzing overhead, or a flag blowing in the wind. But that sensitivity can also apply to skateboards/bikes/runners or even dogs or people on a walk. Small children can also trigger that natural instinct to chase or even nip. Care should be used in managing the herding breeds and small children.EXERCISEAs far as exercise, working breeds have incredible stamina and are known to be workaholics moving sometimes 50 miles or more a day on a farm herding livestock. A short walk is an appetizer for these dogs. It often won’t touch their daily exercise needs. An active home with options for agility, swimming, hunting and mental stimulation are ideal for the working breeds in order to meet their exercise needs.

Story
Sweet little Sammy! This girl is about 1-2 years old and 45 lbs. She used to be a street dog in Texas. She hung around a local business and the townspeople indicate she was pregnant with her 3rd litter when we took her in. It wasn’t long after arriving into foster in Texas she gave birth. Shortly after that, Sammy and all her puppies traveled to CO. Sammy has whelped her babes and is ready now to find her forever home. Per the DNA of her pups, Sammy is a Border Collie, Saint Bernard, and Husky mix. She is an alert barker but she doesn’t seem to have an affinity for jumping fences like some of her DNA suggests. Sammy is dog friendly and has done well with the older kiddos in her foster home. Sammy is being fostered in Longmont, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/sammy/. What’s not to like with delightful Pearl ? She’s adorable and has THE sweetest disposition ! She’s happiest in the company of another young dog : playing and wrestling ! She loves a long energetic walk and then she’s more than ready to hang out with you ! Her favorite place is exploring Open Space trails where she can run free - with perfect recall!! Pearl is treat driven and seems easy to train! Great in the car. Story
Oli, Border, Collie, 3 yrs., 45 lbs. Oli was abandoned on our land a couple of years ago. He has a very sweet and energetic personality. He has been gentle with my husband and I and our children. He loves to snuggle up and be pet. He can get a little nervous and skittish around people he doesn't know. He is crate trained. He is not house trained apart from being in the crate at night. He has very strong herding instincts. He does chase cats. He would do better as an only dog with someone home most of the time. He could do well with another dog if he received supervision and training. Someone with Border Collie experience and an active life style would be ideal. Courtesy listing. Call Cindy 970-353-1385

The Brush gang arrived at the Rescue from Brush, CO.  Animal Control had them for some time and could not find their furever families, so they asked for help.  They are a sweet, friendly group of Austrailian Cattledog, Lab and pittbull.   They are a very energetic and happy group that can jump high, so a high fence with a large yard or property will be needed for these pups.   Brush pink flowers is an almost 2 year old and looks mostly Cattledog with her spots, she is spayed, microchipped and current on shots.  She is kennel trained but has not spent time in the house, she has her own kennel at night but shares her yard with her brother. Story
Letif has come so far!!! He’s been in foster for 4 years and 3 months. He was a super shy feral little pup when he came in. He’s made so much progress! He loves to have you throw toys in the yard for him, and he sometimes brings it back! He really enjoys having time spent with him, but is a touch shy still. I would say mostly potty trained because he never goes on the inside of his kennel. He is a super happy dog! It looks like he is smiling a lot!! He’s done well with kids.He is a little more shy with men, but I think he would come around pretty quickly! Want a new happy best friend!? Apply to adopt him today on our website www.souldog.org.
