Story
Meet Chocolate Chip, a 3 year oldd male German Shepherd/Pit mix weighing around 75 pounds. Chocolate Chip came to us around three years ago as a puppy, he was surrendered with his siblings as part of an unwanted litter. We thought we had adopted Chocolate Chip to his forever home but in October of last year someone found him and decided to hold onto him until an owner was found. We attempted to make contact with the owner and exchange information but were never able to reach them for the finders, the good news was that Chocolate Chip was safe with them. Unfortunately that didn’t last long as we were once again contacted about Chocolate Chip being found, this time way out in the county with another dog. Again attempts were made to get ahold of people but once again we had no luck. After seemingly being rehomed or dumped multiple times we are determined to find Chocolate Chip his forever home. We really can’t see why he was moved around so much, this guy is fantastic! His finds said he was great with their pets and potty trained while with them. Chocolate Chip knows the command “sit” and is eager to obey. He is outgoing and friendly with all people while also walking well on leash, we really can’t say enough nice things about this guy. This pet is available for adoption on 2/2/2025 at 11:15 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.  If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.Interested in adopting this or another YHS pet? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is lifesaving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Blue, a one year old German Shepherd/American Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing in at around 70 pounds.Blue is a beautiful girl who came from a house that had too many dogs and was quickly overwhelmed as they continued to breed. Several rescues were involved in rehoming the animals and altering them over the past several months. She is a little unsure which is to be expected as she only knew one home her whole life and is now living at a shelter facility. This girl is friendly and lowkey. She walks well on leash and really has a sweet disposition. With a little TLC this gentle sweet heart will blossom. Blue has met other dogs and does well, she seems to prefer dogs with low to moderate energy overall but we always recommend a meet and greet prior to adoption.Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT??That’s where you and the pet make sure you’re a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption. It’s a win-win for everyone! Just ask our front desk staff about how it works.??Interested in adopting this or another YHS pet??Please complete our adoption questionnaire found at: https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/apply/?Our adoption fee includes a lovable companion, spay/neuter, vaccinations and intestinal worming, flea/tick treatment, rabies vaccine (for pets over 3-4 months of age) and a microchip with nationwide registration.
