Story
**Fostered in Hillsboro, OR and ready for meet and greets!**
The softest, downy-like fur, and never-ending cuddles, are what you will get if you adopt Aksel. This smart boy is extremely loving and sweet, very smart, and sure to make an excellent pack or family member.
At just 3 months old, this black-masked cutie weighs about 15 lbs. We think he may be a Malinois or GSD mix, but with rescue it's always a guess. Right now he's the perfect age and size to cuddle in your lap while you work (one of his favorite things to do) or watch movies. He is a A+ napper and snuggler!

Aksel LOVES all people and is a social butterfly. He has been socialized well around all kinds of people, including young kids. He is currently living in a foster home with a 14yo and a 4yo kid, and he adores them both. He does still jump up for attention so will need to work on those manners.
He adores other dogs and happily shares his toys with his doggy friends. He will even cuddle up with his foster doggy siblings at nap time. He plays respectfully with the other dogs and isn't a pest to them, but can get rough and rowdy, and vocal, when he plays. He hasn't lived with cats before, but he's young enough to learn. He loves all kinds of toys, especially stuffed toys and squeaky toys. They will keep him busy!
Aksel is very food motivated and smart, but needs to work a little on his ability to wait. He listens well though and stops when you tell him no if he's doing something he shouldn't. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and settles after just a few minutes of whining. Potty training is still ongoing but he's making great progress. He will need to go out every hour during the day and a couple times at night, until he gets the full hang of it.
Aksel will do best in a home with a fenced yard where he can run and play daily. He can be vocal at times, so an apartment won't be the right fit for him. He would do great as part of a pack, or as an only pup, and he'd be happy living with kids too. He will do best in a home where someone will be home a lot, at least at first, while he gets settled with potty training and learning his basic commands and manners.
Aksel is still young so he will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. His new family will need to continue with potty and crate training and daily exercise. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend!
Don't hesitate to apply, he won't be available for long. A dog this smart, confident, social, and snuggly will get scooped up fast!

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?
The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!
Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:
• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
We celebrated our 6 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
