Rocket has a heart of gold and a long history of having his heart broken by the humans who were supposed to be responsible for taking care of him. Rocket has never had stability and somehow, is still filled with optimism and love for people. Have you ever trained a dog before? Rocket would really benefit from someone who loves dogs and understands that this beautiful smart, canine just needs guidance. Rocket is a jumper who wants to give you big hugs and ideally would live with older (I.E. TALLER!) kids who can handle that until he’s trained. He loves the outdoors and would thrive in a home where he had a doggy door or a human around to let him outside to play. He’s unknown with cats but should get along with dogs who can handle (or enjoy!) his playful energy. Rocket deserves a happy ending and if you truly want to save a life, please give Rocket a chance! Fenced yard required. No apartments.

I’m a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd/German Shepherd mix, and I’m full of energy, love, and personality! I’m playful, independent, super smart and always ready for an adventure. I might be a little jumpy (I just love hugs!), but once I know you’re a friend, I’m all about showing you how much I care. If you’re looking for a high-energy companion who will keep you on your toes, I’m the one for you! I’ve worked with a professional trainer, so I already know some basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” “place,” “lay down,” and “kennel.” I’m pretty smart, but I could use some help with my leash manners—sometimes I get a little excited and pull. Training me is a breeze though, especially since I love to please and I’m motivated to learn! One of my favorite things in the whole world is playing fetch. Seriously, I could do it ALL day! I also love bones, Kong toys, and chew toys. However, I should be supervised with rope toys because I tend to chew them if given the chance (but I LOVE a good game of tug-of-war!). I’m good with kids, but because I have a protective side, I’d do best in a home with kids 12 and older who can respect my space. I’m also good with other dogs most of the time, but if I feel like I need to be the protector, I might get a little territorial. I might be okay with a dog-savvy cat too since I lived with one at my trainer’s place for a while. I’ve been exposed to horses and sheep, and I didn’t chase them—so I can be trusted around farm animals! But because of my high energy, I’d thrive in a home with a big backyard and a tall fence to keep me safe while I run around and burn off all that energy! If you’re looking for a fun-loving, active, and protective companion who’s eager to learn and play, I’d love to meet you! Come say hi, and let’s see if we’re a perfect match!
