Meet Scout! -8 month old Malinois mix (Breed is just a guess)-Arrived to the Shelter as a stray so we do not know about her life before the Shelter-Was found by our awesome animal control officers in some agricultural fields with two dog friends-After some snacks and sweet talking, staff were able to bring her and her friends in for safety-Looking for a patient adopter to help him transition to indoor living. Things like leash walking and house training may be new for this gentle giant-Has met dogs at the Shelter and has done well-No history with cats or childrenNow through December 23rd – the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is hosting “Home for the Holidays”. Mamba`s foster had these wonderful things to say about her:`Mamba is a sweet, affectionate girl who thrives on love and companionship. She enjoys cuddling, playing with other dogs, and is very treat-motivated. She has been exposed to cats and has done well in their presence. While she is still in the process of becoming house trained, she is making great progress and is getting close to being fully trained.On walks, Mamba is generally well-behaved but may occasionally bark at other dogs, especially if they bark at her first. She has done really well with all of our family dogs (5 of them). She is very gentle and has been a wonderful addition to my family, particularly with my children who have greatly enjoyed her company. When Mamba gets excited, she tends to nibble, a behavior we are actively working on, but aside from that, she is typically calm and relaxed.Mamba sleeps through the night in her crate without any issues. While I would love to keep her, my current living situation does not allow me to do so. Mamba would do best in a home with people who can provide her with the love, training, and attention she deserves. She is sure to be a loyal and loving companion to the right family.`
