Meet Drako…this guy is the new stud at the Pound. Well, a little less stud since he was neutered. He has previously lived a wandering lifestyle…some of you might have seen him taking his morning jog down a busy rural road. He will need an exercise plan and secure fencing. He has made friends with several of the dogs. He enjoys a good game of fetch and will drop the ball at your feet. Drako is non-reactive to vehicles…even ones with barky dogs in them. He is working on his leash manners. He knows sit and his favorite toy is a green squeaky pig. Malinois are highly intelligent, working/herding/ protection dogs. They need a job and mental stimulation. They are not a “starter” dog. If you have not had one in the past, don’t have the time to train and exercise, Drako is not the dog for you. Drako is about 1 year old, 73 lbs., and wants to please his person! Could he be your new activities/training partner? He is currently spending time in a temporary foster situation, so please contact us if you are interested in meeting him! It breaks our hearts to write this, but we need to rehome our beloved dog. We adopted him from the pound last year, hoping he could help my husband, a military veteran with PTSD. Unfortunately, his own severe anxiety has made it difficult for him to thrive in our home. Our dog is an amazing companion, incredibly loyal and affectionate, but he struggles with being left alone and is scared of the dark. He needs someone who can be with him most, if not all, of the time. He’s 4–5 years old, listens to a few commands, loves walks, and is fully potty trained. However, he does jump on people and nip out of excitement. While he means no harm, this behavior could be challenging for small children or individuals with mobility issues. He’s great with other dogs and cats, but his playful nature can sometimes be overwhelming. We’re looking for someone with the time, patience, and energy to provide the constant companionship and care he deserves. He’s truly a wonderful dog.
