Adoption Event Schedule Events run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM every month at these locations: 2nd Saturday, Sacramento - Pet Food Express 3rd Saturday, Modesto - PetSmart 4th Saturday, Roseville - Pet Food Express Please visit the GCGSR Rescue Page for specific address information. Adoption Fee:  $100.00 Sasha is a female Belgian Malinois that is approximately 10 years old.  She came to us when her elderly owner passed away.  She was an outdoor only dog for the last half of her life. Everything inside her foster’s home was new to her. She has very quickly learned about the creature comforts of being indoors, surrounded by people, and what treats are. Sasha sleeps in a crate at night, and has learned to use the doggie door to go outside and is housebroken.  She is fostered in a home with two other female dogs, and does well with them.  There are also grandchildren who regularly visit and she does well with them.  She loves to give hugs to everyone. She knows basic commands like sit, lay down, and she is working on wait/stay.  Sasha is looking for a home who will help her explore the new world and continue training. No cats or small critters. Level 2 As a senior, Sasha's adoption fee is sponsored through 12/31/24.  Submit an Adoption Questionnaire to meet her soon. Understanding Dog Levels Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels. (https://www.gcgsr.org/dogs.html#levels)  Additional Adoption Information For more information and to see when this dog will be attending an Adoption Day, please see our Dogs page on our main website. (https://www.gcgsr.org/adopt_info.html) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state. Puppy Requirements We have special Requirements for Adopting a Puppy and a separate Puppy Questionnaire that must be completed on puppies. Please see our Requirements for Adopting a Puppy (https://www.gcgsr.org/puppies.html) email us at info@gcgsr.org for more information. Thank you for visiting! December 29, 2024, 6:36 pm

Story
We initially got Laika as a foster, but she was so wonderful we ended up adopting her after her spay. We have two cats in the house and we were hopeful that if we continued slow introductions they might end up getting along. Unfortunately, even after working with a trainer and a behavioralist Laika is too fixated on chasing cats to live safely in a house with them. She also has some reactivity to other dogs and unfamiliar men but has done great with visitors in the house. This is something she will need continued work on. She did live with another dog in the shelter so may do okay with the right dog sibling. Laika is a fantastic dog and we would not have put so much time into trying to make things work otherwise. She is house broken and we are able to leave her loose while at work. She is loving, whip-smart (with a repertoire of 10 commands so far), and very eager to please. She is relaxed for a Malinois but would still do best with an active family and a fenced yard.

Story
Meet Art, a dog whose spirit is as vibrant as her name suggests. Art’s favorite thing to do is play, especially if the game involves a tennis ball. She has a strong drive with toys, so dog sports could potentially be a good outlet for her energy. True to her breed, she is incredibly smart and curious about new things. She is the perfect companion for those seeking an energetic friend to accompany them on their adventures. Occasionally she may forget her manners and say hello with a jump or not want to share her favorite toy, so any children in her new home are required to be 10 or older. However, Art does have a gentle side as well. She loves cuddles and affection from people. Once she looks at you with her soft brown eyes, you will want nothing more than to pet her as long as possible. While Art loves people, she isn’t as fond of canine companions. She doesn’t think they are fun to be around, so she is required to go to a single dog home and not visit dog parks. Come down to the Placer SPCA, and add some Art to your life. Adoption Price: $200Monthly Promotion Applies!

Meet Ambrose, a dog with a heart full of love and loyalty. Her mellow demeanor and friendly nature make her a delightful companion. Despite her initial shyness, once she warms up to you, her cuddly side shines through. Ambrose`s loyalty is unwavering; she`s the kind of dog who would be by your side through thick and thin, offering a comforting presence in times of stress. She enjoys the simple things in life - a good belly rub, a leisurely walk, or just lounging around with her favorite human. Ambrose`s gentle spirit and loving nature make her a perfect addition to any home. Adopt Ambrose and experience the unconditional love and loyalty only a dog like her can offer. New spaces can make Ambrose nervous, so we recommend that any children in her new home are age 10 or older so they can understand her needs. She does not enjoy the company of other dogs, so we are requiring that she is the only dog in her new home. She will also not be allowed to visit dog parks.Adoption Price: $200Monthly Promotion Applies!
