**Meet Pachik: Your Loyal, Athletic, and Intelligent Sidekick!**
If you're looking for a loyal and energetic companion, Pachik (paw-cheek, means kisses in Armenian) , a 1-year-old Belgian Malinois mix, could be the perfect fit for you. He is a sweet, affectionate dog who thrives with a confident and experienced leader, and he would do best in a home with plenty of space to roam and engage in physical and mental activities. Experience with Malanios is recommended.
Key Traits and Needs:
- Loyal & Affectionate: Pachik is extremely loyal to his main people and forms strong bonds with who is in charge. He’s happiest when he’s with his humans, and he would thrive in a home where someone is home frequently. He would do well with older children and may also enjoy having another dog to play with.
- Space & Exercise: This highly athletic dog needs room to run and play. He would benefit from a large yard, or even better, a farm or property where he can work and roam freely. Daily exercise, mental stimulation (like puzzles or tasks), and a routine are essential for him to stay happy and healthy. He loves you chase the ball endlessly!
Training Needs:
Pachik is intelligent and eager to learn, but he still needs consistent training in certain areas:
- Impulse Control & Distractions: He’s still working on managing distractions and controlling impulses when out in the world
- Leash Walking & Recall: He is partially trained but will need further work on walking calmly on a leash and improving recall.
- Malinois Traits: As a Malinois mix, Pachik’s natural instincts are strong, and it’s recommended that his new owner either has experience with Malinois or works with a trainer experienced with this breed.
Behavioral notes:
- Job & Activity-Oriented: Pachik’s energy levels and intelligence make him a great candidate for activities like agility, scent training, or even serving as a jogging buddy (once trained). He loves to work and enjoys playtime with trusted dog friends.
- Protective Nature: Pachik is starting to show protective instincts, which could make him a great protector with some guidance and training. He’s focused and attentive to his main person, exhibiting the classic Malinois traits.
- Chill Time: After a good amount of exercise, Pachik knows when it's time to wind down at night. He enjoys relaxing with his people in the evening and is particularly cuddly after a long day.
Training Highlights:
- Crate Trained: Pachik sleeps soundly in his crate at night and enjoys his comfy bed.
- House Trained: He is house trained and has never had an accident indoors.
- Furniture Training: He is trained to stay off the furniture, including the bed. Which is ideal for him and for his new leader being the boss. He prefers it actually.
Commands He Knows:
- Sit, Down, Shake, Roll Over, Turn Around, Back, Stay, Wait, Come (needs some recall work), No (Ah-Ah), Off, Up, Gentle, Free (release command), Go to Bed (place training), drop (the item), and more!
- He’s also learned how to put on his harness in an adorable way.
- place and crate training have been important for him, he needs to know when to take a break and learning to separate , he does well with both
Social Skills: Pachik has done well at dog daycare and enjoys the company of other dogs with proper introductions, off leash is better. He would do well in a pack but also needs much more socialization exposure. He is also not fond of being left alone and will need help with separation anxiety training.
Fun Facts:
- Pachik’s unique ear hair and good looks will surely turn heads during walks, and you can expect plenty of compliments and questions from passersby!
- He’s always eager to help out, even breaking down cardboard with enthusiasm.
- Pachik can jump! It’s amazing
- he’s amazing at catching and chasing the ball, he’d be a great frisbee dog
Ideal Home: Pachik is not suited for a low-key owners are gone all day lifestyle. He requires an active home where he can engage physically and mentally. He will thrive in an environment with ample space, whether it's a large backyard or a property where he can work, run, and explore. City life doesn't feel like the best fit for him. Pachik is still young, playful, and full of potential, but he needs a committed owner who will provide the structure, training, and attention he deserves. If you're ready for the challenge and joy of a highly intelligent, athletic, and loyal dog, Pachik could be the perfect sidekick for your active lifestyle!
