Story
Flora and Fauna came to GSROC from a local, very overcrowded shelter. When our team members saw them, we just knew we couldn’t leave them behind. Flora is a bit more reserved than Fauna, but still loves to play with Fauna and with other friendly dogs. We would love for Flora and Fauna to find a home together, or for each to go to a home with another friendly dog.

Story
Fauna and her sister Flora found themselves in a scary, overcrowded shelter, and were starting to lose hope. Thankfully, the GSROC team was able to make room for them, and we have welcomed them into our care. Fauna is a playful, agile puppy. She enjoys playing with Flora as well as other friendly dogs, and loves to snuggle with her human. We would love for Fauna and Flora to stay together, or for each to go to a home with another friendly dog.

Story
Lottie was found by a Good Samaritan who took her in from the street. When no one came to claim Lottie, German Shepherd Rescue stepped in with a lifeline. We quickly learned that Lottie has a congenital eye condition that impairs her vision. She has some sight in one eye and none in the other. Lottie is hanging out in a foster home and playing like crazy with the resident dogs. She loves following the other dogs around and Surprise! Lottie positively loves to swim! She has no problem getting in and out of the pool now that she has been shown the steps, and she loves splashing around with her foster siblings. If you have a big heart and another friendly dog, Lottie could be just the right addition to your family!

Story
We were alerted by our rescue partners at Pryor’s Planet about an abandoned Belgian Malinois, who was cowering in the street. She had no chip, no collar, no tags and no hope. Although we are bursting at the seams with beautiful, adoptable dogs, this girl’s sad eyes melted our hearts. She is safe at our vet, getting vaccines, deworming, spaying and chipping. We named her Delta–watch for more info as we get to know her. THANK YOU, Pryor’s Planet, for making this rescue possible.

Story
Bruno is an active, fun-loving guy who needs a secure fence and an experienced home. He likes female dogs and likes people. Bruno knows many of his basic commands but training is still needed for this good looking boy. Bruno likes to get out and about to see what is going on in the world. He has lots of Malinois energy and walks and jogs are a good way for him to burn it off He is not a fan of bicycles however and takes a dim view of cyclists riding by. Small dogs are also not on his list of favorites either. He generally is not reactive to other dogs unless the other dog initiates something. Bruno won’t back down from that but can be easily corrected. An experienced handler is what this boy needs to help him learn what is acceptable. He does become hyper stimulated when around a group of dogs. He’s much more focused & cooperative with training, walking & commands when walked alone or at a distance from the pack. Training would be much more successful when he is away from other dogs as opposed to a group lesson

Story
Buddy needs help fast, his issues at the shelter are for being a #BelgianMalinois trapped in a kennel. If you or someone you know can help please contact the shelter at 562.570.3080 or AnimalRescue@longbeach.gov Buddy is a fairly easy going #BelgianMalinois that arrived as a stray on 3/15 after reportedly being loose in the area for several days. Considering Buddy arrived with a registered microchip it's clear he is missing one very important 'buddy'... his owner 😐 Buddy's stray hold expired on 3/25 and became available for adoption or rescue after his neuter surgery. Around the same time Buddy was displaying increased stress & anxiety in his kennel, along with more impulsive behavior when out of kennel (in typical Malinois fashion). In addition to his new hobby of grabbing random large & heavy objects while on walks, he recently bit a staff member on the buttocks when they were placing keys & lanyard in their back pocket (D'oh). Luckily for everyone no skin was broken in the process (phew). Buddy has a prior bite on record from 2020 during a home invasion robbery, doing what dogs are expected to do & biting a burglar. BUT with the shelter taking into account the prior provoked bite, along with the recent bite attempt and insane amount of stress being taxed on him in a kennel, it's clear Buddy needs to be somebody's new 'buddy' ASAP through adoption or rescue. Buddy lived with another dog at his prior address (where that dog is remains a mystery), and has been very friendly and comfortable with other dogs. Currently he is remaining relaxed & stable while kenneled at the shelter, hopefully he can find a more responsible owner through adoption or rescue before kennel life gets the best of him since he's a Malinois. Story
7 month old Bandit was rescued by a kind animal lover who then was told by her landlord she could not keep him.  He is now in a GSROC foster home where he is being socialized with other dogs and people.  He is housebroken and likes other dogs. Bandit is a typical puppy – filled with energy and exuberance.  He loves to romp, play and have a grand ole time.  Due to his exuberance, we recommend homes with school age children or older.  Toddlers and little children may be knocked over by Bandit while he plays. Bandit knows the importance of learning his puppy social skills and he is eager to learn all he can.  He knows how important it is and can’t wait to get started. Please remember, adopting a puppy is not everyone’s cup of tea.  As cute as they are – puppies demand a large investment of time, patience, and training.  They are inquisitive, have endless energy and get into just about everything.  They dig, chew, and seemingly never stop! Think long and hard about your lifestyle. If you are not willing to invest the time and training to ensure your puppy matures into the wonderful dog – then please consider an older dog. Please go to our website and complete an adoption application at: /https://www.gsroc.org/application/  An adoption counselor will contact you to go over your application and assist you in determining which dog may be best for your particular situation. 2 year old Cosmo did not delay when he discovered our volunteer was there to spring him from that shelter.   He popped right up, wagging his tail and hustled over to stand right next to our volunteer. Now that he is with us, our volunteers are taking time to get to know him.  He is a friendly guy who gets along with other dogs and likes people.  He knows some of his commands and is eager to work on refining his leash manners.   He is alert to his surroundings and has a doggy smile on his face as he glances around. Story
18 month old Angelo lost his home due to divorce and landed in a shelter.  The shelter staff contacted GSROC as he had quickly become a shelter favorite. Angelo spent a few days at the home of one of our volunteers.   He is a happy guy who got along well with the other dogs in her home.  Angelo is always ready to play and have fun.  After all – he still has lots of puppy playfulness inside. This boy sometimes takes his role of protector a bit too seriously.  He needs an experience owner who will provide him with the structure and limits he craves.   For that reason, we recommend him for a quieter, adult home . Please go to our website and complete an adoption application at: /https://www.gsroc.org/application/  An adoption counselor will contact you to go over your application and assist you in determining which dog may be best for your particular situation.
