Story
Meet Lucy, a beautiful and charismatic 1 y/o Mal mix! We rescued Lucy from a high-kill shelter in LA with less than 1 hour left before she was to be euthanized - all because she had developed an upper respiratory infection at the shelter. Lucy is a happy-go-lucky girl with a strong but gentle demeanor who LUVs and plays hard. This babe is athletic and brave but also affectionate, curious, and dignified. Lucy will need a home that can match her activity level. She thrives when she has a job - whether that's training, a game of fetch, or helping her foster dad work and run errands. She LUVs going on hikes, bike rides and skateboading with her foster dad, learning and mastering new skills, and socializing. Lucy is a frequent guest at local coffee shops where she enjoys hanging out while her foster dad works. Lucy joined our Rescue Director and her dogs after leaving the shelter. She did great with her foster fur siblings, playing and lounging around with them, and with other dogs she meets on her adventures. She loves nothing more than to be by her persons side. This babe has it going on! Her brains and beauty aid in maiking her the pawfect companion. We haven't been able to test her with kids yet so for the time being, we're recommending she goes to a home with older, calmer kids who are experienced with dogs. If you are an experienced dog owner and have younger kids, and are interested in meeting her, please send us a message, we'd love to talk with you more! If you are looking for a babe to be your adventure buddy and is sweet, confident, and a loyal best furiend, look no further - Lucy's your girl! Ready to fall in LUV? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gentle-hearted ShepherdCoco is a 2.5 year-old Malinois / German Shepherd mix who weighs approximately 78lbs.  Coco is just a sweet, gentle-hearted boy. Curious, goofy, loving, and energetic - he loves everyone, and sees the best in them. Coco currently lives with two older 4-legged brothers and, while he would love to live with a fur-sibling, he is not part of a bonded pair. As long as he has fur friends to play with, Coco will be a happy boy! When playing with his human pals, Coco is very verbally responsive and wants to please. He knows several commands and loves to play complex games with his toys. When he gets a bit over-stimulated, he puts himself into a timeout under his foster family's kitchen table to rest and reset! Sweet Coco has been perfectly house trained since day one, loves car rides, loves to go for walks and is learning not to pull in excitement when he meets new friends - that is Everyone! Despite his size and youth, Coco does not need long hikes to manage his energy. 15-20 minutes a couple times a day and play sessions with his fur siblings are great exercise for Coco. Coco knows the benefit of "Sit", "Down" and "Touch" to get his favorite treats, and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. 10/18/24 01:16Doggy Day Out ReportToday was so fun! My friend took me on a walk through a residential neighborhood and I loved checking everything out! There were so many things to see and smell! My friend said I walked nicely on the harness and that I was such a good girl. I showed off how pretty I can sit and how nicely I take treats. I love treats! My friend even started showing me new things like come and down. I like learning! We saw lots of dogs and I passed them politely. Squirrels are very interesting to me and I wanted to go check them out but my friend encouraged me to keep walking. I really loved my nice long walk, a break for cuddles at the park, and even a yummy bully stick on the ride home! What a great day!Three Words to Describe Me are: Adorable, Affectionate, SmartNotes from My Walker: Skylar sure is a cutie pie! She’s medium sized and estimated at a year old but has a permanent puppy face that is way too cute! We went for a long walk through Willow Glen and had a great time!Skylar walked nicely on the front clip harness and only pulled mildly towards squirrels – I agree, squirrels are fascinating! She loved to sniff and check everything out. We saw a lot of dogs and she passed them all politely. (At the shelter, she participates in doggie playgroups!) She was not reactive to anything – dogs, cars, people, strollers. She was startled a couple times at sudden movements or loud noises, but she recovered very quickly and was happy to continue on our walk.Skylar still has some puppyish manners like mouthing when I harnessed her and in the car, but she doesn’t apply any pressure. Overall, she was such a good girl and she will grow out of her mouthing in a home with regular exercise and socializing.Skylar is very food motivated and knows sit and loves to show it off for treats and she takes treats gently. She is a smart girl and was quickly understanding the commands come and down!Skylar is very affectionate and loves to crawl into your lap. We sat on the grass at a park and she was such a happy wiggly girl to get extra love. I really enjoyed my day with this adorable sweetheart! She will make someone a lovely companion.

Story
Free Cali-K9 Elite In-Person Dog Training Package!! Luca is a female purebred malinois and will be 2 years old in February. She is an amazing girl - strong, smart, obedient, agile and very loving. She's comfortable staying home while we're at work with no destruction or potty issues. We have another dog and 2 cats which she gets along well with. I'd imagine she'd be fine with kids, but she's never been around one, so I'm not sure. I would say her only flaw is that if she's around a dog she doesn't like, she let's them hear about it :). I signed up for the Cali-K9 training because I wanted to do things like take her to work and be sure she wouldn't bark, but decided to save it for her new owner since I'm moving. Ideal Owner: - Provides significant playtime. She LOVES tug-o-war and fetch - Reinforces training. She's obedient, but if someone in the house doesn't enforce the rules, she'll walk all over them - PLAY. TIME.

Additional information about this animal is available as of August 10th, 2024. It will be provided to an interested party or rescue. Dog Day Out notes from last week: Today, I was so happy to get out of my kennel! I got to put on a collar and harness, and I got to go in a car!! I love the car! I wanted to help drive, but my new friends said I should eat cookies instead, so I looked out the window. I love going for walks! We walked a long way! I wanted to be in front, but my friends would stop, so I got to give them snuggles when they did that – I like snuggles more than cookies! We saw so many things! People and dogs and lots and lots of bikes! I don't worry about those things though, I have my friends! I almost tried to catch a squirrel, but it got away. That's okay; I gave more snuggles to my friends! Oh! And on the way back, I took a nap – I loved the quiet time. Three Words to Describe Me are affectionate – snuggly - and friendly. Notes from My Walker: Traviesa is such a delight! She pulls on the leash, but it seems like she just never got a chance to learn how to walk on a leash before. She did amazing on the busy trail – we saw bikes, walkers, and dogs, and she was non-reactive to almost everything. The small, barky dog got her attention, but he started talking first, and she displayed interest, with no reactive lunging or barking. She is not a cookie girl, but she LOVES to snuggle. We love it when dogs on the trail check in with their human friends, but Traviesa was at another level; she would stop and lean in for a hug before continuing the walk! She is a sweet, gentle, loving dog who deserves a home that will let her learn and give her the chance to be a fantastic companion dog.

Story
[Located in Seattle] Honey is a beautiful 5 year young GSD who had a ruff start to life. You could see it in her body, her eyes, her skin + fur, and her poorly neglected ears + teeth We don't know where she was before the shelter or how she ended up in the shelter but she looks like another beautiful dog who was overbred + then dumped by the only family she knew when they couldn't use her anymore. Thankfully, we were able to pull Honey from the shelter with only 15 minutes left before her final notice expired.  As soon as we got Honey out of the shelter and into her foster home, she became a different dog - calm, trusting, + luving. Honey continues to come out of her shell with her doting foster. She enjoys going for walks, has a healthy appetite, is house-trained, and the sweetest luv bug who adores humans!  Honey is being fostered with 3 other dogs (raining in size from small to large) and does great with them - no resource or food guarding, can eat out of the same bowl as the other dogs, and shares her space and bones. She can live with other dogs with slow and proper introductions, and time to adjust to her new home and fur siblings. Honey also lives with a cat and has shown little interest in the cat. We recommend her going to a home without kids or with older, calm, and dog-experienced kids because we don't know if she had any experience with kids before we rescued her and hasn't had any exposure to them with her foster. If you're ready to fall in LUV with your new beautiful, sweet as Honey best furiend,  fill out an app to meet Honey today!

Story
Sheba is rescue from ShepHeroes. We got her when she was 3 months. She was supposed to be a dog for my mom because she has a big backyard and goes walking often. We lost our shepherd of 12 years and wanted my mom to have another dog. My mom got hurt and has been unable to walk her. My step dad also had back surgery and can not care for her. I took her in until we find her a good home. My mom and step dad are also looking to move overseas soon and so are we. I will care for her until we find a good home. Sheba is very friendly, but can be skittish at first. She is good around kids but still has puppy tendencies. She knows how to sit, shake, down and stay. She is very driven by treats. She does not have a high prey drive and loves going on walks and car rides. She also loves scratches under her arms. Sheba will be two in August of 2025. I think sheba will do great with a family that is active and has a backyard for her to release her energy or someone who can at least walk her daily
