Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Athletic Tripawed Dog!Coco is a 2 year-old Malinois / German Shepherd mix who weighs approximately 78lbs.  Coco is just a sweet, sweet boy. Curious, goofy, loving, and energetic - he loves everyone, and sees the best in them. Coco currently lives with two older 4-legged brothers and, while he would love to live with a fur-sibling, he is not part of a bonded pair. As long as he has fur friends to play with, Coco will be a happy boy! When playing with his human pals, in typical puppy fashion Coco can be a bit jumpy and mouthy, but that's easily addressed with a firm voice and a 15 minute walk :-) He's very verbally responsive and wants to please. Sweet Coco has been perfectly house trained since day one, loves car rides, and while he is working on his leash manners, he loves to go for walks and is learning not to pull in excitement when he meets new friends - that is Everyone! Coco knows the benefit of "Sit", "Down" and "Touch" to get his favorite treats, and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. Check out Coco's profile on Rocky Kanaka! https://rockykanaka.com/one-leg-short-but-full-of-heart-a-german-shepherds-inspiring-escape-from-adversity/ Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.   Adoption fees for dogs: http://www.svpetproject.org/info/adoption Stay up-to-date on what our dogs are up to by following us on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/svpetproject Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 6, 2024, 9:13 pm

Story
06/05/24 14:53Is in a half kennel, front of kennel, barking, jumping on to kennel door. Once leashed he walks out but bites at leash and yelps when he feels the leash get tight. When going for a walk he is still barking and jumping on handler. He gets frustrated when he stands still, will start snapping at leash, jumping on to handler and grabbing on to clothes. When going for a restrain he tries jumping out, mouthy, and yelps. When in the yard he does seek attention but will get overstimulated quick (bites leash, bites clothes, jumps on handler).Unable to safely restrain. Adopter must sign waiver understanding that this dog will need training due to his erratic behavior. Making available for adoption with waiver. LB

Additional information about this animal is available as of August 10th, 2024. It will be provided to an interested party or rescue. Dog Day Out notes from last week: Today, I was so happy to get out of my kennel! I got to put on a collar and harness, and I got to go in a car!! I love the car! I wanted to help drive, but my new friends said I should eat cookies instead, so I looked out the window. I love going for walks! We walked a long way! I wanted to be in front, but my friends would stop, so I got to give them snuggles when they did that – I like snuggles more than cookies! We saw so many things! People and dogs and lots and lots of bikes! I don't worry about those things though, I have my friends! I almost tried to catch a squirrel, but it got away. That's okay; I gave more snuggles to my friends! Oh! And on the way back, I took a nap – I loved the quiet time. Three Words to Describe Me are affectionate – snuggly - and friendly. Notes from My Walker: Traviesa is such a delight! She pulls on the leash, but it seems like she just never got a chance to learn how to walk on a leash before. She did amazing on the busy trail – we saw bikes, walkers, and dogs, and she was non-reactive to almost everything. The small, barky dog got her attention, but he started talking first, and she displayed interest, with no reactive lunging or barking. She is not a cookie girl, but she LOVES to snuggle. We love it when dogs on the trail check in with their human friends, but Traviesa was at another level; she would stop and lean in for a hug before continuing the walk! She is a sweet, gentle, loving dog who deserves a home that will let her learn and give her the chance to be a fantastic companion dog.

Story
Meet Ginger! Ginger is an adolescent GSD mix that came to the Shelter as a stray. Since being in the Shelter, she has been going out for walks and adventures with staff. She also attends playgroup regularly with other dogs that enjoy a game of chase and wrestling. Ginger went into a foster home recently and we are learning so much valuable information about this gal. Here is what her foster reports: -crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night-house trained with access to a doggy door and sliding door for easy access outdoors at all times-loves having a canine housemate to play with (resident dog is an XL neutered male dog)-still learning life skills and house manners like `don`t run around the house with slippers or put paws on the counter`GOOD NEWS.. she is really food motivated so behavior change is a breeze with this smartie.-loves walking on a long line. does pull on leash when on a short line-can be a little mouthy when hyped upGinger is loving being out of the Shelter and in a foster home but what she would love even more... a home to call her own! Interested in her? Come to the Shelter to set up a meet and greet today.
