Story
Meet Hans! He is the most loving dog you will ever meet. The definition of a VELCRO DOG! We are fostering him because he was 2 days away from euthanasia. He is very intelligent but does need training, which we are working on with him now! He is working on potty training, but almost has it down. He does well on leash but does get reactive when he sees other dogs. He is not aggressive AT ALL. In fact, quite the opposite. He is very scared and flinchy of a lot of things, likely due to whatever his background before the shelter was. He is about a year and 3 months old and 64 lbs.

Leah IS AVAILALBE (updated 08-23-2024).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Leah, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22329&name=LeahLeah came to us a terrified, shut down, feral dog whom animal control had confiscated from a very bad situation. She was so shut down, it took a long (long!) time to get her to allow any type of interaction with humans. We spent month after month earning her trust, socializing her, and teaching her to overcome her many fears. Around 6 years old now, she moved from the training facility into a foster home and is doing fantastic, but will need a special adopter. At first, she was scared to enter the house, the tile scared her, and it took coaxing for her to enter. Leah now seeks affection, is playing with toys, plays with her human foster, is totally comfortable being inside, crate trained, potty trained, and is learning that the world isnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t such a scary place. She went to the beach for the first time and loved it!While she&#39s your normal, energetic Maligator in her foster home, she is still figuring out the world outside of those doors. She spends time every day being exposed to new things, but when she&#39s scared she does try to bolt. She used to hit the end of the leash and frantically chew to break free (which is why she wears a long fur saver), but now, when something new and loud is that scary, she bolts and stops when she hits the end of the leash, even going into a sit. Leah is a jaw snapping, toy playing, chew obsessed Malinois in her home and is going to need someone who understands Mals, who can supply structure, who is patient, and who can slowly build trust with her. Because she&#39s such a flight risk, we are going to be very careful about where we place her, because she means the world to us.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.September 26, 2024, 12:22 am

They were being given away &#39free to good home&#39 and were rescued by an animal lover who didn&#39t want to see them land in the wrong hands! Fiona settled into the kennel life very easily and charmed her way into the hearts of all of the volunteers. She needed treatment for a cancerous tumor that she likely got when she became pregnant with her pups. The good news here is that she is done with her treatments and has been cancer free for over 6 months! Yay for Fiona! Fiona would love a home to call her own. She has been to obedience training, knows all her basic commands and walks well on a leash. She would do best in a home with older kids and no other dogs or cats. She loves car rides and would love an active lifestyle! If Fiona sounds like a fit for you, please let us know. This handsome boy has basic obedience down, is crate trained, walks well on a leash and loves being with &#39his&#39 person. He is a little cautious when meeting new people but warms up quickly if he&#39s given the space to get to know you. He has a medium prey drive when it comes to toys, but does well with other dogs, big and small. We are unsure of how he is with cats in a household, but he hasn&#39t shown much interest when he encounters them out and about in town. He loves his daily walks and runs and would be the perfect addition to an active household. He could also make a good candidate for low level sport dog work as he&#39s showing good drive in his training. He will need a secure yard as he can jump upwards of 6â&#194&#128&#194&#153 fences. He&#39s neutered and up to date on his vaccines. Please inquire only if you have experience with Working Dogs and/or the Belgian Malinois breed. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. Story
Tall and lean, Rufus is an athletic and intelligent boy with short tiger striped brindle fur, expressive ears, and a loyal heart. He is a little over a year old and he is a mix of Belgian Malinois Shepherd, Terrier and possibly Greyhound. True to the Malinois breed, he is very smart, bonds closely to his person, and is active. He likes to play with other dogs and does best with other dogs that can match his rough play style. He is housetrained and crate trained in his current foster home. Rufus takes a moment to warm up to new people and does best when he can approach you on his terms. Once he gets a chance to know you, he bonds very closely and is very affectionate. He is eager to please and loves to go to training classes. He has already learned 10 commands and would be a great dog for a person that wants a working breed. He would love to be your new running buddy and would be a great agility dog. Rufus would benefit from a more active family and one that will continue his training and socialization. If you think you are ready to add to your family by adopting Rufus, then fill out an adoption questionnaire on our website today! We recommend completing the questionnaire and connecting with an adoption coach before looking for a dog or puppy you'd like to adopt.
