Story
*Courtesy post - if interested in this pet please contact the owner Anthony at anthonysegoviano27@gmail.com*  Rey is a sweet girl looking for her forever family. Rey is about 1 year old and full of love. Rey is a Belgian Malinois and would do best in a home familiar with the breed. She loves everyone she meets, though she can sometimes have a hard time containing her excitement! Rey has been around other dogs and did ok with them. We are not sure about cats but feel she could be fine. She is mostly housetrained though does have the occasional accident if we wait too long between taking her out.  *Courtesy post - if interested in this pet please contact the owner Anthony at anthonysegoviano27@gmail.com*      All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
Gorgeous young Kira is athletic and strong. When she arrived at the shelter, she was quite shy and it took a while to adjust to the loud kennel noises. But now we're seeing her true fun personality coming out. She loves to play with toys and can actually dribble balls between her feet (really!). She is loyal and sweet and loves walks and being active. We're looking forward to someone seeing just how special she is. Her perfect match will have to keep up with her need for high physical activity and drive. If you're up for the challenge, come meet her during our walk-in hours Friday and Saturday or by appointment Monday through Thursday, 11-3. Adoption fees are $50 and include microchip, spay, and all up-to-date vaccinations. Adoptions are always free for veterans. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
We initially got Laika as a foster, but she was so wonderful we ended up adopting her after her spay. We have two cats and were hopeful that if we continued slow introductions they might end up getting along. Unfortunately, even after working with a trainer and a behavioralist Laika is too fixated on chasing/herding the cats to live safely in a house with them. She has some reactivity on leash to dogs and unfamiliar men but has done great with all people once introduced. She is gentle taking treats, tolerant with grooming, and has done great with kids. She did get along well with her roommate in the shelter. Laika is a fantastic dog, and we would not have put so much time into trying to make things work otherwise. She is house broken and we are able to leave her loose while at work during the day. She is affectionate, whip-smart (with a repertoire of 10 commands so far), and eager to please. She is very chill for a Malinois but would still do best with daily walks and a fenced yard.

Adoption Fee:  $100.00 Sasha is a female Belgian Malinois that is approximately 10 years old.  She came to us when her elderly owner passed away.  She was an outdoor only dog for the last half of her life. Everything inside her foster’s home was new to her. She has very quickly learned about the creature comforts of being indoors, surrounded by people, and what treats are. Sasha sleeps in a crate at night, and has learned to use the doggie door to go outside and is housebroken.  She is fostered in a home with two other female dogs, and does well with them.  There are also grandchildren who regularly visit and she does well with them.  She loves to give hugs to everyone. She knows basic commands like sit, lay down, and she is working on wait/stay.  Sasha is looking for a home who will help her explore the new world and continue training. No cats or small critters. Level 2 As a senior, Sasha's adoption fee is sponsored through 12/31/24.  Submit an Adoption Questionnaire to meet her soon. Understanding Dog Levels Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels. Story
Meet lovely Veronica ! This gorgeous Belgian Malinois is an amazing find here at the Shelter. Besides being a looker, this young Mal already has some significant training under her belt. Her fetch skills are unmatched, and she is extremely agile and athletic. She patiently waits for you to throw a ball,  will even sit while waiting, if you give her the command. Then she`s off like a shot to retrieve it, catching the ball in the air or mid-bounce. She races back and immediately drops the ball and goes back to a patient wait. She responds quickly to a sit and is happy to lay at your feet with a down command, soaking up any attention you want to bestow on her.  Even though she is estimated to be one year old, she seems to have a maturity about her, and a wonderful temperment. Honestly, she`s captivating. Veronica hopes you will ask to meet her ASAP, let her show you everything she has to offer. If you don`t know anything about Belgian Malinois, they are an extremely intelligent working breed. They will thrive with adequate excercise and mental stimulation. Please consider if this breed fits your lifestyle.Veronica recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine.  She wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as she gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, she’ll be ready to show us her silly side with other dogs.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out her playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/12/23/sox Looking for the most loyal best friend? Johnny Knoxville (aka Knox) is your guy. Knox’s dream person or people are simply just committed to him! He is a 1.5yo malinois/cattle dog mix who loves structure, routine, training, and playing! He is a petite guy at around 40lbs, easy to fit in the car or in your lap on the couch! Knox is still very much a puppy; he is treat and toy motivated, and is a velcro pup once he gets to know you. He has had extensive professional training since his trainers LOVE to work with him. He is leash, crate, and potty trained. A home setting is a must for Knoxy and a yard to play would be a HUGE plus. Knox has moderate exercise needs and a high drive for training. He loves learning new things, and is sharp in his commands. These breeds are not a match for a home with small kids. No cats in shared indoor space because he will chase if they run! Knox is currently in a foster home with 5 other adult dogs ranging from 25-100lbs plus small foster puppies and is thriving! Knox has now done 2 long road trips are is a rockstar when crated in the car. He sleeps like a baby! He loves his crate & is crated during a typical workday. When you arrive home you are met with an uberly excited boy who can't wait to do something fun with you like trick training, playing with his bite tug, or chill sniff walks. He is not a dog that needs heavy exercise to thrive, but he needs direct interaction with his people everyday to thrive-- did we mention he LOVES his people?? Knox builds a really strong connection with "his" human/humans and will make you feel like the most special person In the world. It is an honor to be loved by our sweet Knox! $150 adoption donation includes vaccines, microchip, neuter, and up to date on monthly flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Interested in adopting? 1. Story
Dogs don't come any cuter than Daffodil! Daffodil is an approximately 2-year-old bundle of fun who is eager to find her forever home. She is the sweetest girl who will happily make herself comfy in your lap and cover your face in kisses. We haven't had the heart to tell her she is slightly too big to be a lap dog. Daffodil is fully grown and weighs around 60lbs (although she could benefit from losing a few pounds). Daffodil came to us after she was found as a stray. One of our foster homes agreed to take her in until an owner was found, but an owner never came forward. A couple of weeks after she was found Daffodil gave birth to 9 puppies! All of her puppies have been adopted, so now it's her turn! Daffodil is a wiggly goofball and loves to explore and go on adventures. Now that she doesn't have to care for her babies she is ready to enjoy life and soak up all the human attention for herself. Daffodil has been doing great learning her basic manners and has learned "sit". She is very food-motivated, which makes training a blast. Her new family will need to be prepared to dedicate the time to continue to work on her basic manners to help her be the best girl she can be. Daffodil would do best with someone who has large dog experience as she is a strong and enthusiastic girl. Daffodil is a moderate-energy gal. When she's at home, she is happy to chill on the couch and enjoy movie marathons, but she also has the energy for long walks and hikes. She loves car rides and hops right in and is ready to go. She loves making new human friends and has been a popular girl at our adoption events. She is quick to walk to cover your face in kisses and lean into you for a hug. She oozes happiness and can't wait to find her fur-ever family! Daffodil has done well living with other dogs but also would thrive as your one and only canine companion. She does best with dogs around her size as she is a wrestle-mania type of girl and would likely be too much for a small dog. She needs a kitty-free home. Due to her rambunctious nature, Daffodil would do best with an adult-only home or with kids 12 years or older. Daffodil has been doing very well with her house and crate training. She sleeps through the night in her crate and has done well hanging out in there when her foster mom is at work or gone for a few hours. Daffodil is such a sweet girl and she deserves her happy-ever-after. If you think that might be with you, submit an adoption application today!   Daffodil's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
If you're not careful, Houdini might just steal your heart! Houdini is 2-3 months old and is the happiest little boy. He is an adventurous guy eager for fun. He is looking for an active family who can make sure to keep his busy mind and body happy with lots of enrichment and adventures. Houdini weighs about 17lbs now, and we estimate he will be at least 60lbs when fully grown. Houdini came to us with his sister and four brothers from a family in rural Yolo County. The family didn't plan on having the litter, so rather than sending them to the shelter, we were able to place the kiddos in foster homes until they are adopted. These kiddos need individual homes with large dog-savvy families who are equipped to take on smart cookies. Houdini, hence his name, is the trickster of the group. He is a goofy boy who loves to have fun and has a little mind of his own. He loves to learn and figure things out and would thrive with a family who wants a dog to teach lots of tricks.  He has been doing great learning his basic manners and needs a family dedicated to continuing his training and socialization to help him be the best boy he can be. He would be a great candidate for group puppy classes. Houdini has done well meeting new dogs and would love a playful dog in his new home to help mentor him. He could also do well as an only dog with lots of opportunities to socialize with dog friends. Houdini has done well meeting cats and could do well living with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision.  Houdini could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years or older. Houdini has been doing well with his house training, but he is still learning and needs a family who can be patient with him while he is learning and continue to be consistent with his training. He has done well being left alone in a pen and is doing well being crated overnight. He hasn't spent too much time completely alone and would do best with a family who has a schedule that will allow them to slowly acclimate him to being home alone. Houdini   is such a darling boy and he can't wait to meet his fur-ever family. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Houdini 's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application.
