Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. Meet Joe. He is currently at Paws in Prison (read more about that below). Joe’s story- Joe was adopted from a shelter (not from us) in 2022. His owners put him on chain in the backyard. And there he stayed. For years. Alone and neglected. Their excuse…because they unexpectedly had a 3rd child. No reason other than that. They did not keep Joe on heartworm prevention, so of course, he is heartworm positive, and is now undergoing treatment for that. Aside from all of that, Joe harbors no ill will. He loves people, wants to learn, and is eager to please. He deserves so much better. Joe is 4 years old and weighs 30 pounds. He’s some sort of Hound mix…Beagle? Foxhound? We don’t know for sure, but we do know he deserves the best home! Joe is good with other dogs. He is your typical hound as far as energy goes-he is a high energy dog! He’s so cute and good that we hope he gets an avalanche of applications. But if you plan to banish him to a chain in the backyard, please don’t apply. He’s not for you. In fact, we don’t have any dogs for you. Joe is currently at Paws in Prison, an 8 week program where dogs are matched up with inmates. The dogs are with their inmate trainers 24/7. They work on house training, leash walking, basic commands etc. They meet weekly with a dog trainer. Joe will graduate at the beginning of May. We hope to have a home lined up and waiting for him!
